    Star Citizen

After No Man's Sky finally released and seeing all this news about it. I decided on a whim to look at other space exploration games, and so, I have recently discovered this game and am thinking of maybe possibly joining in on it in sometime in the near future probably. I also realized the potential for this game to be a perfect opportunity to roleplay our SiS characters ( big downer is that you can't play as non-humans which cuts a huge chunk of potential lore (possible stretch goal pls devs?) So a few things would need to change). We should do that sometime. However, a few questions, one of being: Where the fuck do I start? As in, which starter ship should I get? I wasn't something to match my SiS ship, so something that is versatile, leaning on exploration and combat. Also what's with all of these macro-transactions? Are they P2W? Finally, is it any fun yet? This things seems to have been playable for a long time, and is still planning to be released in 2016/2017, so at what stage in development is it at, and is it a buggy mess?

I don't know, I think the mechanic of taking Joy™ in order to blend in with the locals and alter your perception of he world is interesting, and the devs have stated they are going to be adjusting all the meters to make them less like nuciances. It has promise for sure.

    Overwatch

Your prayers have been answered, the "No Supports" team tip has been replaced with "No Healers" and they excluded the only support that doesn't heal in that category, so that should help mitigate that migraine. Speaking of which, OW is having its first seasonal event going on as the 2016 Summer Olympics roll on in. From now until Aug 23rd, every loot box you get will be Olympics themed and will contain new cosmetics exclusive to said boxes. These new cosmetics include: - Player Icons One for each hero, I think. - Sprays Just one generic, universal one unlocked by default and another unique one for each character. - Voice Lines One for each hero. - Victory Poses One for: Mei, Pharah, Reaper, Roadhog, Soldier: 76, Torbjorn, Widowmaker, Winston, and Zenyatta. All of them holding a ( and in Zenyatta's case levitating multiple) medal in their own style. Except for Soldier, who is swinging a golf club instead. - Emotes Bastion boxing, Lucio juggling a soccer ball, and Symmetra doing a ribbon dance. - Highlight Intros Junkrat throwing a grenade as a shot-put (and failing miserably), Lucio bicycle-kicking a soccer ball, and Tracer doing a hurdle. - Skins Epic: D.Va, Genji, McCree, Mercy, Torbjorn, and Widowmaker. Legendary: Track & Field/Sprinting skins for Tracer, Soccer skins for Lucio, and Weightlifting/Wrestling skins for Zarya. It's clear that Lucio got the most love in this update, getting one of every category except a victory pose. And even getting his version of soccer as the Weekly Brawl. Considering the games take place in Brazil this year, I'm not surprised. In fact, this makes him tied with Tracer for the most cosmetics at 61, and that's including her Origin skin. On the other hand, Ana, Reinhardt, and Hanzo got jack shit in this update, aside from getting a new spray and voice line like everyone else. Additionally, aside from the new voice lines, NOTHING can be bought with in-game currency, you can only get them from the lootboxes, which means, you either have to grind through ranks, or pay micro-transactions for loot boxes and pray that RNGesus is smiling down upon you. On top of that, the new loot boxes contain old stuff as well, so if you're looking for a specific item, well you're shit outta luck, and you'll have to pay Blizzard to get more of it. Unless of course, you are extremely lucky, and the freebie they give you when you login contains exactly what you're looking for. This, unsurprisingly, has stirred up controversy about the whole update.

  5. Eeyup, after thinking about it for a good couple of weeks, I've decided to scrap the idea of getting a pre-built Steam Machine entirely, and have decided to build my own Windows PC. Considering the nature of the topic, I also decided to make a new thread as well. So as I've mentioned before, I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to specs, so I've always just been a pre-built kind of guy and just went with what sounded good. The thing that kept me (and probably most people if I had to guess) from building my own was the sheer overwhelming headache it would be to research parts, make sure they are compatible with each other, save up the money, then actually build the the damn thing. But you know what, I think it's about time that I grow a pair and learn for myself on how to build one. I've had a nice long chat with my brother, who built his own, and he gave me a few pointers when starting out, but additional help would be appreciated. And with that let's get started. First off, set up some ground rules. I have revised my list from the last thread and reorganised them from most important to least. Price: I have since raised my price range from $1k, to $1200-1300, around there. $1500 is my hard limit, however. GPU/CPU: I generally don't play very intensive games, if you look through my library or wish list, you will find that the most intense on there would be the Tomb Raider reboot, L.A. Noire, Sniper Elite 3, so use those as benchmarks to go off of. Give me something that will play those games (plus TF2 as a special case) at a consistent framerate of 60 at medium settings. That's generally what I'm shooting for here as far as standards go. Storage: 1TB minimum. I don't particularly care about the speed in which a game loads (hence I'd rather prefer HDD to the uber-expensive SSD even if that means stuff takes longer load), so surprise me on this one. RAM: As I've said before, 8 GB is good with 16 being more than enough. Surprise me. Motherboard/Monitor: I have NO clue on where to start with these, plz help. Keyboard/Case/Power Supply: I'm not particular with keyboards as long as it's weird, though since I'm primarily a shooter fan, I've heard mechanical keyboards are better for the high octane precision needed for those. I think I'll manage the case, but suggestions would be nice. As for power, surprise me. OS: Do you really need to ask? Now go make yourselves useful, I ain't got all day. Thanks in advance.
  6. Greetings from my new computer. Finally got it built and it's running pretty damn smooth. I decided to settle on the 1070 instead of the 480. (I was tired of waiting for it to come in stock. Also it turns out, I forgot to buy a mobo when I bought all my other parts, a blessing in disguise actually. So here it is, my final build. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/mK9GGf I'd like to thank you all for your wonderful support and advice going through this. I'm just glad it's over, and I can relax.

    TIAM: General Gaming edition

A good example of this: I recently got an XBONE right? So it was bundled with Halo 5, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Rare Replay. Just looking at the comparison alone between Gears remaster and Rare Replay will show you how big games have gotten. It says on the package that Gears takes 50 gigs, while Rare Replay takes up to 46. So ONE remaster if a game from 2007 takes 4 whole gigs worth of memory more than a collection of 30 games ranging from the early 1980's to the early 2000's. Let that sink in for a moment. One modern remaster vs. 30 old games. Remaster takes 4 gigs more than all the old games combined. Fucking ridiculous. And don't even get me started on Halo 5, as soon as I installed it, I am still, in the moment of writing this, downloading a 40 gig update. Granted, Halo 5 was released a while ago and it has been getting a lot of dev support since then, but still. So if you want a modern gaming rig/console, 500 GB simply DO NOT cut it anymore. I'm so glad that Bundle came with 1TB and not 500 GB. Because that is the new standard for storage memory if you want any sort of longetivity with gaming these days.

Eh, they can keep their servers, I'd rather they allow community servers to revive now that QP is dead. In fact, I see this as an opportunity to revive the SPUFserver potentially. I'd have to check with Commander and do an interest check with SPUF. I might even pay for it myself now that I have a job. But what do you guys think?

Even TB went ballistic over this. I have never seen him this angry. h3h3 explains it pretty well.
  12. It's that time of year again boys. Here's to 240 years of freedom.
  13. And with that, I've ordered my parts, and after a couple hitches with my credit card being declined due to "suspicious" activity, they are on their way. All I'm missing now is the graphics card. And after viewing many benchmarks and reviews, I'm going with AMD's new card. The price for performance ratio looks right up my alley. I'm getting paid tomorrow and will use that money to go towards the card. Can't wait to be an 1337 hacker master, computer gamer, whooo!!

    Brexit Bullshit

As an uninformed yankee, I find myself agreeing with Kraz and Raison on this one. I mean whose to say the UK will be the only one leaving, what if several other big players leave, following Britain as the example? That would certainly mitigate the trade troubles of leaving. It also seems that the rest of the economic downturn is just a knee jerk reaction to the split. I'm sure the pound will eventually bounce back after the dust has settled and people realize it's not the end of the world. Honestly, from these long-winded posts, all I see is some sort of economic over-dependence on some vague, globalist, multinational organization that was gaining too much power on its sovereign nations. But again, I know little of EU politics, I didn't even know Brexit was a thing until just half a week before the vote. So I have a couple questions, two of which being: 1.) What exactly is the EU and it's role in European affairs? 2.) What caused Britain to vote to leave?

You do realize, that among those "thousands of braindead players and hackers" was me and several others on here who probably would have never bothered with the game if we didn't catch the news that it was free right?

    Game Deals Announcement Thread

Still 12 cents shorts of getting everything on my wishlist, gahhhhhh. This wouldn't be a problem if I could sell a couple of steam community cards, but Valve, in all their wisdom decided to hold the listings until July 8th, four days after the sale mind you, because I don't have the mobile authentication on my Steam mobile app. Even though, I had to log into my e-mail to verify the sales anyway. WTF? If you didn't believe it was me when I put the listings up, why don't you think I want them up after verifying, and I want them up NOW! All because I don't have your unnecessary authentication bs? Goddamn it Valve.

    TIAM: General Gaming edition

Went to Gamestop today, and my brother gifted me a physical copy of Overwatch Origins Edition, while we were there, I bought myself an XBONE Spring Bundle that came with 1TB of memory, a digital download code for Ori and the Bling Forest, and physical copies of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay, and Halo 5. So if anyone wants to add me on Xbox, my GT is John Caveson. (duh)

It allows identical names. The ID number just allows you to know who is who, similar to Steam, though you can't change names. (Minus the freebie)

    E3 2016

Games that caught my attention from Ubisoft's conference from least to greatest: 3.) For Honor A seemingly intuitive melee game that looks awesome. Also Vikings v Knights v Samurai game made by what looks like a living Viking is interesting. 2.) Trials of the Blood Dragon Trials with Blood Dragon levels of comedy? Yes please. 1.) Steep An open world snow sports game that just looks like a relaxing, scenic game with an option for little challenges and stunts and stuff to play with your friends with. Looks nice. Surprisingly interested.
