Simple, the game scans your computor for "corrupted" items_game files and if it detects corrupted files, it boots you off. Of course they could always change the (way outdated) way of how items work in the game, but that requires actual effort.

Well, I caved and bought myself some skins for CS:GO. Two for each side, a Glock, M4A1-S, USP-S, and AK. I didn't really care about rarity, as long as it looked good. http://steamcommunity.com/id/JohnCaveson/inventory What, I like blue. EDIT: Huh, for reason it says I have no items, yet I can see my inventory just fine from the client. Strange.

    Halo General

I know that sentiment..... Anyway, found some more gameplay. Enjoy. It seems that the maps that are being redone so far are Sanctuary, Ascension, Coagulation (a.k.a. Blood Gulch), and Lockout. I wonder what the other two are, though I think one of em being Zanzibar, but since Zanzibar already has its reincarnation in Halo 3 as Last Resort, I don't think it's getting a makeover. I could be wrong though. EDIT: Nevermind, yea, it was Zanzibar. So hooray, that only leaves one more map that I've yet to see being remade.

    Halo General

Here's some gameplay footage of Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer at Gamescon 2014. Dude's pretty good.
  19. Alright I've decided to narrow down what exactly I'll be getting with the MCC. The Gamestop's description puts it nicely: Here's the stuff that I'll be basically re-buying with the MCC: Halo 2 Campaign* (which I won't mind) Halo 3 Campaign and Multiplayer** (again, don't mind) Halo 4 (kind of "ehh" on this one) Here's what I won't be re-buying and will be completely new to me that the past games didn't have for me. Halo 1 with better graphics and audio with the option to go back to the original (Anniversary) *Halo 2 Campaign that's received the "Anniversary treatment" Halo 2 Multiplayer (I never got to experience XBox Live multi when the servers were still up) **ALL DLC for multiplayer, which is, like the ad says, over 100 maps to play on ALL of the games will be updated to run at 1080p with 60fps, which will make even the older games seem gorgeous Access to Halo: Nightfall, a live-action digital series that sort of ties in with Halo 5 Access to the Halo 5 Multiplayer Beta+ +limited time only Of course, at the moment, that's all objectively what I'll be getting. This is all for only $60, and so, as I've said before, if I already had an XBox One, it'd be an insta-buy and this thread wouldn't exist, but since I don't, that's where the tricky part comes from. According to Gamestop prices, in order to play this collection, I'll need: The MCC (duh). Price: $60 (e XBONE console (controller included....duh). Price: $400 At least 1-year of Xbox Live Gold. Price: $60 Microsoft account. Price: Free Finding room to put all of this stuff. Priceless. Total cost: $520 Now that might seem a lot for a bit of nostalgia, you're probably thinking "oh wow, yea-no don't get it." And you're right, I'll probably be wasting my money. But that's only if you look at it from an objective point of view. But you gotta remember, everyone has there own unique "value" to everything, not just monetary. So, let's try the more subjective view, try to put yourself in my shoes, try to to see things from my perspective: STORY TIME! (wall of text inbound) Spoiler You are a Halo fan, you've been one since Halo 2, you enjoy the story, the characters, and the mechanics of the game. You sadly, wasn't old enough to comprehend online play and miss out on H2's multiplayer awesomeness. Fast forward to 2007, you are utterly stoked at the release of Halo 3, you pop that baby in and enjoy pure bliss of the epic conclusion of the trilogy. You absolutely enjoy the new Forge mode and the ability to make you're own maps and gamemodes that you can share with the rest of the world. Theater mode brings plenty of entertainment that allows you to laugh at funny moments from the game, learn from your past mistakes, learn new tricks, or boast that one Perfection! you got on The Pit. Finally this time, you have an Xbox Live Gold account (or at least using a sibling's with their permission of course) and it provides you hours, no, months, no, even years worth of Halo 3 goodness with your friends and family. Fast forward now to mid-2011. You've played the hell out of Halo: Reach enjoying it more even than Halo 3 sometimes. You are at the height of your Halo fandom, getting the Legendary Edition for Halo: Reach and pre-ordering Halo 4 to get an Arctic BR skin from GameStop. But, you are exposed to a "new" game....put on the PC? If you haven't guessed by now, yes it is Team Fortress 2. Your older brother got it when it went F2P, but you already vaguely remember it being in the old Orange Box on the 360 back in 2007. You didn't really think much of it, it was such a barebones, class-based, multiplayer only game that had cool-looking Pixar-like graphics that made up the "multiplayer" portion for the Orange Box. You never knew it was on PC, you try it out and instantly become amazed at how much different the game is compared to the console version, all with new UI look, tons of new content, such as a fuckton of new maps, unlockable weapons, achievements, gamemodes, bot support, and more. "Holy crap!" you say to yourself, "why didn't we get this on PC earlier? This is amazing!" You are glued to that game for months figuring out all of the cool stuff, and how it works, and enjoying the CONSTANT updates that just make the game better and better. Then, it's November 2011, time to play the first in a new trilogy of Halo, so Christmas came early this year. You enjoy the campaign, and all the new toys to play with such as the Forerunner guns and shit. You boot up Spartan Ops and mildly enjoy that. Then you move on to the Multiplayer and have a wail of a time. But, something's missing.....you don't know what. You soon realize what it is: You're not having as much fun with this game as with past Halos. "WHAT!? Impossible! Me bored of Halo? That's preposterous." You think to yourself, "Why is this happening? Could it be that game is just too different from the other Halos? Could it be that TF2 is just so much more fun? Am I just losing the flame for Halo in general?" You just don't know. As 2012 comes, you slowly stop playing Halo and console games in general as you become more involved with TF2, Steam and PC gaming. Once in a blue moon you try to come back to Halo, and it's fun, but....doesn't feel the same. Fast forward all the way to mid-2013. You're watching E3 on Spike. You decide to watch Microsoft's press conference showcase, maybe just to see what MS is trying up their sleeves to save their asses from a rough start of an introduction to their new console. Then you see someone from 343i come on stage. "Huh, Halo 5 announcement I assume?" you say to yourself. Then they reveal not Halo 5 but...something called the "Master Chief Collection", just a re-release of all the past Halo games with MC in it. Halo 2 will be getting same treatment as Halo 1 did on its 10th anniversary. That's pretty cool, you become intrigued, but not overly psyched, and you don't think of it much after that. They announce Halo 5 as well, no surprise there. Then comes next year's E3. You watch recordings on YouTube since you didn't have time to watch it live. You decide to watch Microsoft's conference, for whatever reason, probably to see what else they're trying to do to save their, so far, fail of a console. Then again, you see a 343i representative come on stage. "More news on Halo 5 I'm guessing." you think to yourself. Then they reveal more details on the MCC, it's release date, cross-game playlists and multiplayer, forge, a simplified menu in order to play any mission on any game, all DLC included, 6 of the Halo 2 multiplayer maps are receiving the anniversary treatment with a certain something in each one to change the flow of gameplay, such as a button you can push to put up a temporary bubble shield in the middle of Ascension and a red....thing that you can shoot to activate waterfalls on the bases of Sanctuary, and more. You nearly spit out the juice you were drinking in sheer surprise. Could it be? The original Halos all in their original glory, untouched aside from some bug fixes and graphical/audio upgrades? The original Multiplayer for Halo 1 and 2 just as it was a decade ago? "Sweet mother Mary of Joseph!" you exclaim, "I gotta admit, as much a I don't like the XBONE out of sheer principle and MS bs throughout the past year, they do make a good argument when they put something like this on the table." Then they announce a Halo 5 multiplayer beta and Halo: Nightfall, which you can access through the MCC. "OH COME ON!" Several months later, you create a thread in subSPUF asking people their opinions on it. Fin. Now that you've seen what I've seen, maybe that'll give you a new perspective, my perspective, of the whole thing. Now the question comes, what would you do, in my situation? It may not change your mind, it might not, that's fine I just wanted things to be a little clearer. Also do note, if I decide to get an XBONE the MCC will obviously not be the ONLY thing I'll get for it. I'll also branch out and get Halo 5 when it comes out, and whatever exclusives interest me. The MCC will just be, if anything, the thing that gets me started on XBONE. However, there's a bit of a problem wit that. Here's a list of all of the games so far coming to Xbox. Note the lack of exclusive titles coming only to XBONE. Almost none, they are ither on other Microsoft systems, on other platforms such as PC, or only timed exclusives. And the only ones that interest me so far is the MCC, Halo 5, and a as of yet untitled Gears of War game. So basically you could say I'm only getting it for Halo, at least for now.
  20. Alright listen up you maggots. Ol' John here is in a gaming-related dilemma. Xmas is coming up soon and I'm trying to decide whether or not put a couple things on my list or not. As you may or may not know, 343 Industries (the guys who replaced Bungie for making Halo games) are releasing the "Master Chief Collection" for the Xbox One as part of the hype for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians coming out next year. The collection comes with all of the Halo games that have Master Chief as the main character (hence the name). That includes: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (the Halo 1 reboot to celebrate Halo's 10th anniversary) Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo 4 In general, this collection means that all of the games will be updated to have 1080p resolution graphics. Halo 2 itself will receive the Anniversary treatment, with full graphical and audible upgrades to the campaign and a few multiplayer maps (with an option to change back to the original), while the gameplay mechanics remain untouched (even some of the glitches). All DLC from all the games will be included. The most important to me however is that all of the games will have dedicated servers to play online. So for those of you, like me, who care, this means we can relive the glory days of Halo 2 before the servers were shutdown and for the first time ever, Halo 1 will be playable online, which made Halo fans everywhere weep with joy, needless to say. All for only $60. Now why this concerns me is that before I got into TF2 and PC gaming in general. I was a big Halo fan. Halo was one of the main reasons I played consoles (the others being Gears of War and Nintendo with Smash Bros and Mario Kart). I didn't have Halo 1, but I managed to play the campaign once or twice, so I know what happened. I had Halo 2 but never played the multiplayer (aside from custom games with friends) before it was far too late and the original Xbox Live servers were shutdown for good. It wasn't until Halo 3 before I got into the multiplayer and really was at the peak of my Halo fan phase. Reach came out, and I got the Legendary Edition and loved that game to death (despite all the hate it got from the Halo community). And pre-ordered Halo 4 and got the Arctic Battle Rifle skin. Halo 4 was fun for a while, but it was around that time when I was really into TF2 and spent most of my time playing that, so I kinda lost interest in Halo. A few weeks ago I was contemplating going back to Halo 4, so I took a peek at the numbers and saw that the game was basically dead due to the massive community backlash. Now the big question I have is should I buy it? Should I don thy rose-tinted glasses and relive the glory days of Halo 3 as well as experience what I missed all those years ago with Halo 1 and 2, all remastered with cutting edge graphics and sound? Or should I let go of the past, move on, and not let my nostalgia get the best of me as I may realize that Halo was the past and wouldn't be as fun as I thought it would be due to my changing taste? I've weighed some pros and cons and here's what I got. On one hand: I get to relive the best years I've had with Halo 3 I get to see what the hub-ub was all about with the first two Halos I get all of the DLC and stuff I wasn't able to from before On the other hand: All in all, I'll be paying more than $520 just to play Halo again. This includes the MCC, the XBONE, and Halo 5 (because let's face it, if I'm going through all of this trouble just to get the MCC, might as well get Halo 5 when it comes out, because why not), and an annual subscription with Xbox Live (since I don't want to keep relying on my brother for everything) It will be a lot of hassle, I'll have to get the console, the collection, make a(n) Xbox//Xbox Live/Microsoft account, and find a place to put all that crap I'll be essentially re-buying Halo 2, 3, and 4 (however, I won't mind re-buying Halo 2 and 3 since they've more than enough given their worth in entertainment, but Halo 4 is iffy considering it's so recent) It might not be what it used to be and I've lost the "spark" for Halo and would be a huge waste of money as I lose interest Now I know what some of you may be thinking, "Just follow what your heart wants, why ask us?" Well, I wouldn't be making this thread if I knew what my heart wants in the first place. I'm not good at decision-making, ok, leave me alone. Just humor me and put yourself in my position. I'm not saying this poll will dictate what I do, but it will help. Now that that's out of the way, there's still something I'm contemplating on getting. I've recently been curious about Counter-Strike. I've seen a few gameplay videos and read some reviews. Some people compare it to TF2 when it comes to mechanics, calling it the more skill-focused cousin to TF2. That is understandable considering they both use the Source engine. So I ask you, does CS:GO play like TF2 mechanics-wise, and would a TF2 player like myself adapt quickly to the mechanics and gameplay? If so, should I get it and play when I get too flustered with TF2? Or is it like a certain fish and other brown shooters, with faster than a human can react kill times and shit community, and I would be better off sticking with TF2? I highly encourage you to state what you think, and await your response. Thanks in advance. TL;DR Should I get a XBONE and buy the MCC or no? Should I also get CS:GO for Christmas?

I think the game takes place in the late 1980's or early 1990's, so that wage is actually pretty reasonable unlike today's standards.
