Whew! Finally made it to Platinum in comp, now to never touch it again until next season. I'm also really enjoying the loot box system right now. The weekly rewards for arcade is nice boost for useless cosmetics, though at the cost that initial surge after every prestige, due to the EXP changes.

    The Eternal Adventures Season 1

IT BEGINS! Welcome to the first season of what could be called the replacement for SiS (results may vary), the Eternal Adventures. This story focuses on the perspective of the dynamic duo of the Eternal, John and Rakarl, mine and Napkin's characters, respectively. Some things to go over that you may be wondering: - Why? Well, SiS seems to be dead at this point as no one is writing for over 3 good months. It was saddening to see as the story had humongous potential. Why it failed was probably the lack of an interconnecting plot and too big of an area of play. I mean, several individuals spread out across an entire galaxy wouldn't be interacting very much wouldn't you think? But since I liked my character a lot as well as the overall plot potential in SiS, and I'm sure a lot of you guys as well didn't want to see your characters wasted, I've decided to take it upon myself to write my own stories to push the plot forward. Depending on feedback, this can be the spiritual successor to SiS so not all of it is wasted and carry on its legacy. The biggest benefit that this will bring is that SiS can live on in some way and people don't have to lift a finger as I will be the one doing all the writing. - How will it work? Simple. I will tell a narrative of the adventures of my ship as the plot of SiS unfolds. It will be divided into seasons with each season having it's own story arch. For example, season 1 will be mostly exposition and character development between John and Rakarl, while Season 2 will start picking up the plot with the second Drac-Sectonian War which sparks off the rest of the galaxy. I also have plans for a season 3 and 4, whos archs will be secrets due to potential spoilers. The biggest thing to note here is that this is just purely story, not a forum game such as BFNY. That means no movesets, no restrictions, that means a character can use any of his/her powers as many times as he/she likes, and they can be amplified slightly. The flip-side is this: death is permanent. That means once a character dies, they die for good. No respawning, or cloning, or anything like that. On top of that, natural weaknesses are made to be more realistic, so if someone gets shot, they'll react accordingly and will have to seek medical help depending on their regenerative abilities, if any. Basically what I'm saying is that there will be more realism involved instead of "game rules". - What about canon? I will try to be as canon as possible, this means I will significantly follow the historical background of Aetzyl, the locations of the planets and various major galactic powers, description of species and planets, the personalities of characters, all of it. - Deadlines? I'm not gonna lie, there will be no deadlines. Chapters will be done when they're done. Since this is low priority compared to my studies and other real-life stuff, I cannot guarantee a stable schedule for releasing chapters. Sorry. I know some of you may be at this point now placing bets on when it will die again, and I don't really blame you on that. - What about the various characters that people worked so hard to make? This was a difficult thing to face. I was just originally going to focus purely on John and Rakarl and not have them interact at all with any of the characters, but that would be boring and open to plot holes. It would also be dangerous, because it meant potentially destroying another person's hard work. A solution I came up with is that it will be an opt-in sytem of character inclusion. That means those people who care about their characters and wish to not be wasted out may ask to be part of the story and I will eventually include them as cameos or recurring characters depending on what the plot needs, while that those who's lost interest in SiS and don't want to be a part of it don't have to be. - An opt-in system? Yes, in order to be part of the story, a character creator may post here and ask to be included. I will then open a PM channel to that person so we can collaborate when, where, and how I'll incorporate their character into the story. As for those who have abandoned SiS, they won't have to worry about me "stealing" their character. I will only include characters to those who request to be included, all they have to do is just check the other members of their ship crew and see if it's alright leaving them. A little something extra as well I'm also up for requests of remaking characters through this incredibly stupid, yet surprisingly fun thing that Cactus showed us earlier in TIAM. I will only make characters who are already opted-into the story. Now, let's start off with all of thre previous chapters I've created in the SiS story thread in order to get reoriented as to where we are and move on from there. Wake-Up Call (John's intro) Spoiler "Goooood Morning Dracium! This is your galaxy's favorite radio station 97.7FM, The Morning F’taghtn, wake-up calls for every solar system! The forecast for the Dracium system is the passing of the Alias Comet as it enters the atmosphere for a dazzling spectacle tonight, don't want to miss that." The message woke John from his nap. *snort* "Huh, wha- ohhh." "You're listening to 97.7"- *click* John let out a groan. "What part of 'nocturnal' do these idiots not understand? Rahhh." John took a big stretch of his arms and wings and yawned. "Got to hand it to them though, they don't call them 'wake-up calls' for nothing." He checked the fuel gauges and saw that they were full and proceeded to head out to the station. The light shined bright in his eyes and he put on his goggles. "That's better." he said. As he approached the cable fueling the ship, a stranger scoffed in disbelief, "Can you believe this?" John turned his head to the voice. Standing next to him was a Dracon about 70 years older than John, staring at a holographic screen. The news was on. "This just in, a Sectonian battleship has been spotted near Draxxus. Dracon citizens accuse the Sectonian military of performing spying operations in the area, while the military denies the accusations and insist it was only 'weapon testing' of said battleship. Both the Sectonian and Dracon planetary governments open up negotiations to reduce the tension and work out a peaceful solution to the situation. However, it is not currently known how long the government can keep the peace between the two planets. Now on to sporting..." "Damn Sectonians," the stranger said, "at this rate we'll be at each others' throats in no time." "We already are," said John, "it's only a matter of time before someone starts squeezing." "Indeed,' the stranger agreed, "I've been through 1 war with the Sectonians, I don't want to live through another." "You and me both." "Hm, is that your ship? Are you part of the military?" the stranger asked. "Heh, well yes and no." John said. "I'm actually ex-military, I bought the ship, and now I do mercenary work." "Hmm, if and when Dracium goes back to war, will you serve for us?" "Of course." "Even if Sectonia paid you not to?" the stranger asked nosy. "Are you questioning my loyalty?" John rebutted offended. "Just making sure, good day and good luck." The stranger said and walked away. John mulled over what the conversation with the stranger. 30 years it's been since the Drac-Sectonian War. By Dracon standards, that's no time at all, the wounds are still tender as many Dracons that lived through it remember it as only yesterday. Many of them are still smoldering ready to get back to fighting for vengeance. And with recent events as of late, any spark could ignite the powder keg brewing that could even probably set off the galaxy. "Master Caveson," the voice snapped John out of his thoughts, "I have received a message for you to come to the Draken system. Rakarl is ready for pick-up." It was only the ship's AI, Mara. "Shall I set a course for Draken?" "Uhh, yes would you kindly, Mara?" John said. "Set a course for Draken, time to go pick up my partner." Packing Up (Rakarl's intro) Spoiler Rakarl's decision to investigate the strange happenings elsewhere in the galaxy, instead of journeying to Nexus were met with mixed results from his peers. Some thought he was insane to deny that the greatest of hunts would occur on Nexus, while others told him to bring as many trophies as he could carry, should he not die in the unknown. Most, however, simply told him to slay any who dared to attack him in his travels, and to protect his crew mates with his life. Rakarl would take the last remark to heart, and as for trophies, well, he'd try his best. The departure bay was fairly empty, many of the Draken with plans for leaving Mikros had left for Nexus nearly the week it was discovered. He'd wished his friends and acquaintances leaving for Nexus good hunting, and to bring him back a few Aurin tails. Now, the departure was empty save for him and some who finally decided Nexus was the place to be. Rakarl's seat gave him a view of Mikros' arid surface, though no wildlife was to be seen. Seeing nothing of interest, Rakarl returned to pondering his upcoming adventure. From what he could remember from the information he was given, he would be traveling with a Dracon, a winged, nocturnal humanoid. He remembers most vividly that they had a penchant for blood, and given his love of it, Rakarl judged that it would not be a problem at all. In fact, it may even prove to be a wonderful bonding experience! The thought of sharing a couple pints of blood over a slain foe's kicking corpse made Rakarl's mouth start to water. He quickly recomposed himself as he heard the tell-tale signs of an arriving ship, and prepared himself to meet his future traveling companion. Trust (John and Rakarl's first meeting) Spoiler "Master Caveson," Mara said. "We have arrived at the Mikros system. Prepare for landing." "Very well then, let's see what we got here." John uttered. The Eternal touched down on the landing platform, nice and easy. The sun was setting, so no need for goggles. As the ramp lowered for John to exit, he spotted a figure just outside. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he could see more detail. A scaly, horned creature with orange hair and....seemed to be slouching. Rather primal looking, but if John has learned anything from his years of experience, he shouldn't judge books by their cover, especially if he was going to work with him. "Greetings." John said welcoming, "You must be my new technician, I assume?" "Yes," said Rakarl, "that's right." "Well then, let me just get a good look at you here." John pulled out a holoscreen. "Mara, bring up his file please." Suddenly, the screen flashed and a picture of Rakarl appeared along with a bio. "Alright, let's see here. Name: Rakarl Species: Draken Homeworld: Mikros Bio: blah blah blah.....brash....stubborn....quick to anger.....loyal....hmmm........bloodthirsty....mmhmm. Well then, let's have a closer look then, shall we?" John then examined Rakarl closely and circled around him. He then noticed the tube on his back. This puzzled John wondering what could be flowing in those tubes. John sniffed and realized it wasn't blood, and had a disgusting smell, he then retracted and stepped back from the Draken. "Interesting." Was all he said. He then started to turn away, but suddenly whipped out his pistol and aimed straight at Rakarl. Surprised, Rakarl quickly responded by unsheathing his sword just in time to block John's shot. Enraged, Rakarl charged John as John quickly took flight and fired at Rakarl as he either blocked or dodged his shots. Out of shots, John landed and took out his rifle and tried to take aim, but Rakarl was quickly on him and cut his gun in half. He then kicked John in the chest, knocking him down. John rolled out of the way before Rakarl could stab him. John juked around him and used his tail to disarm Rakarl and threw his sword away. This enraged the Draken even further as he took out his claws and scratched up John's arm and chest. At this point, John started to take flight, but Rakarl grabbed John's tail and threw him down, before John could get up, the Draken leaped on top of him. The Dracon pulled out his second pistol and aimed it directly at Rakarl's head, while he had his hands around John's neck, ready to squeeze as hard as he could. An intense staredown lasted a good 10 seconds. John could see the killer in Rakarl's eyes realizing that the Draken was prepared to fight or die trying. John started to chuckle which then became a full-out laugh. "Good, GOOD! I'm impressed." Confused, Rakarl snapped out of his rage and slowly got off John. John started to cough and gag, when he regained his composure, he reassured the puzzled Draken, "Now that was a good fight, hadn't had one like that in a long time. Exactly what I'm expecting from in a partner." John dusted himself off and approached Rakarl, who was still suspicious and prepared to defend himself. "Perhaps we started off on the wrong foot, allow me to introduce myself. John Caveson of Dracium 9, at your service, you can just call me John." John extended his hand and Rakarl, still suspicious cautiously shook his hand. "Welcome aboard!" John exclaimed. "Name's Rakarl," he said, "What was the meaning of that?" "Just a test," John answered. "Your reflexes and fighting skills are commendable, they will serve you well." "Thank you...." Rakarl said, still confused. "Sorry about your gun, you did try to shoot me though." Amused, John said, "Forget about it, I have plenty of spares on the ship." "What about your arm and chest?"Rakarl asked, now worried. "Oh, this? This will heal quick enough." John noticed it was already a quarter way to healing. "Heh, I have a feeling this is the beginning of a beautiful partnership, haha. Come, let me take you on a tour of the ship." Goodbye Old, Hello New (the "lost" chapter that I posted before making this thread) Spoiler The main door hatch opened, and Rakarl and John walked inside the Eternal. "Watch your step," John said. "Mind if I just call you "Karl"? "Ra-karl" just doesn't have a proper ring to it. *groan* "Hhhrrr, fine," Rakarl reluctantly agreed. "Good," John said, pleasantly," First off, allow me to be a good host and give you the grand tour. Might as well know the ship you will be repairing right? Anyway, let's get on with it. As you can see over here right away is the cockpit; the left seat is yours. Through this main hallway here to your left is the kitchen.....don't eat everything at once. To the right is the lavatory; please don't make a mess of things I just cleaned up. Towards the back you'll find a flight of stairs and a ladder, the ladder heads up to the man-able turret, while the stairs will take you down to the cargo hold, hyperdrive and fuel storage, as well as the weapons cache so you can store your extra equipment and weapons. And way in the back are the bedrooms, two main rooms and two guest rooms. So, just make yourself at home." John paused and said, "Now before we depart, are there any last goodbye's you would like to make to friends, family, etc.?" Rakarl shook his head. He made his goodbyes to his friends and loved ones before arriving at the landing platform. "Very well then, let us be on our way. I've already lined up our first job on Volrom on the outer rim of the Alliance of Free systems close to the border. I'll brief you on the way." John and Karl sat in the cockpit and fired up the engines and the ship took off. As it was rising towards space, Karl peeked to take one last look of his home planet, already missing home, not knowing what the road ahead lies for him. John noticed and looked on with sympathy. Then, after a few moments of silence, he called upon MARA, "MARA, plot a course for Volrom please." "Yes, master Caveson," MARA acknowledged. The Eternal breached the atmosphere and steered towards Volrom. New chapters coming SoonTM. Post what you think and let me know if this is a good idea.
  7. The problem with Federalizing the entire country, aside from the obvious opportunities for major corruption and tyranny to occur, is that, in a country as diverse as ours, different regions have different problems, different people and ideals, and different economies. Federal law is supposed to be a "one size fits all" deal. But some laws just hurt some regions, while propping up others at a cost. For example, immigration is a major issue along the border. People in that region care about who is coming into the country or not. Meanwhile, the rural area formally known as Kansas has no such problem, because it is so far away from any borders, it doesn't feel the effect of immigration law as much, if at all. Then one day, the all-powerful federal government decides to hold a national vote on whether or not to have open borders. Now let's say the rural Midwest is full of progressive-minded people who have never seen firsthand the problems that might cause, not just for the border region, but the country as a whole, and get it passed. Doesn't matter to them, they won't be affected for a while, but the border regions will see drastic and immediate consequences, that might displace a good number of citizens, all because the rest of the country didn't understand what the border region was going through. Another example would be that the government pushes through a law (no voting this time) that heavily restricts water usage, for both private citizens and businesses. In the dry West, this is already common practice, and actually needed. In the East however, there's plenty of spare water, and the restrictions only drive down business and economics growth. And private citizens wonder why they have to restrict water usage, when there's plenty to go around where they live, just because the West is thirsty. That hardly seems fair. Weird examples, I know. But you get my point. Rarely is there a law or regulation that fits the whole country without screwing over a particular region or multiple regions. On top of all that, it's just more efficient to govern when you have State governments doing most of the work, as they can address their own region's problems faster, without having to affect the rest of the country. It's not easy, believe me. Never know when those dirty Blues might sneak up on you and take your guns away. The Red Resistance is staging an offensive on Sacramento, but first we must break through Blue stronghold of Hollywood, before moving up into the dreaded Silicon Valley, straight into the heart of the enemy. We attack at dawn.
  8. OMG, what am I even reading anymore. I can't stop laughing. Everyone in here has just made my day, rep for all of you, seriously. The Triggering of SubSPUF: 2016 Election Edition. How anyone thinks either party gives a toss about them is beyond me. They only want more power, both D and R. At least with Trump, the Repub establishment killed itself.
  9. And these are the same people who are for stricter gun laws. Kek. Seriously, it feels like a third-world democracy here, where the loser's supporters just riot and try to overthrow the winner. That's what really destroys democracies: sore losers. As far the Electoral College goes, I say we compromise, with every state being like Maine or Nebraska, where the votes are split. That might help dispel the need for relying on swing states so much. California, for example, can get pretty red once you move away the coast. Seems pretty unfair that all 55 Electoral votes automatically go to Democrats every election, especially with how many Republicans/Libertarians/etc. have no say here.
  10. Oh no, I'm with you on that one. Both of the videos actually share the same basic theme if you think about it: Democrats shot themselves in both feet with this election.

    The Eternal Adventures Season 1

Brexit passed, the Cubs enter, then win the World Series for the first time in over a century, and Donald Trump won the election. Truly, these are the end times. And what better way to top off the apocalypse before Hell itself freezes over and pigs fly, than with a new chapter of Eternal Adventures!? And not just any chapter, but the season finale!!! Hope you enjoy. SE 01 CH 18 Familiar Feeling Location: Dracium 9; Shuttle en route to D.R.F. Imperial TL;DR And with that, Season 1 is done. I thank you all of those who enjoyed reading these as I enjoyed making them. As we wrap this up, any final thoughts or feelings, criticisms, etc. on Eternal Adventures? I would certainly appreciate the feedback. Thank you oh so much. Please stay tuned for Season 2, which have major improvements and additions coming its way. Until then, see you around.
  12. My thoughts summarized basically. The ranting is icing on the cake.
  13. Not much denial here. Though if you followed Fox since the primaries, even they were reluctant to get on the Trump train. Only after he took the nomination, did they just said "fuck it" and begrudgingly supported him. And even then, they were highly critical of him. Again, I agree with you here. If Clinton was elected, it would be the same song and dance with Fox hounding her all the time and the rest of the media just skirting around her mistakes like for the past eight years with Obama. The thing with Fox though, is that they normally appear to be the only ones really scrutinizing Obama compared to CNN and the rest. They are the only conservative cable media station on air with a real dissenting opinion towards his policies. Meanwhile, during this election, the sheer amount of negative-focused press towards Trump, just simply caused people, even those on the left, to wake up and be fed up with the circus unfolding in front of them ganging up on the man. We'd be all day arguing about policy, so I'll spare both of us the trouble with that merry-go-round. Though there is one thing I'd like to clear up. My party? No, no, no. You are mistaken. I don't consider myself Republican. I actually registered this year as a Libertarian thank you very much. Even then, party name means little to me. In fact, I was planning to vote for the Libertarian candidate as the Libertarian party is the party that lines up with my beliefs. But then Donald Trump happened. So I went Republican on this special occasion, because he seemed to be the one of the more libertarian of the Repub candidates. That and he is truly an outsider who stole the nomination from the establishment Republican party that was almost no better than the Democrat party at the time. I felt his nomination would stir up a much-needed change in the party. The same thing could have happened with Bernie Sanders, who was also like Trump in that regard, if it weren't for him being both a.) a coward who handed the nomination to the establishment, and b.) the DNC being cucks. No, no I didn't. I'd be pretty pissed if that were to happen, but I have yet to see a sign he will, especially with a conservative Congress and (assuming) conservative Supreme Court on his side, he won't need to. My dear boy, that is called "gridlock", which is generally good for laws, as then, only the most scrutinized, bi-partisan laws get through the process. The problem I have with executive orders is that it allows the Executive branch to completely bypass the Legislative branch when a bill is denied by the Legislative, which is a critical check in the balance of power. The only silver lining is that Executive Orders can be repealed by proceeding presidents. However, it can be difficult if an order has been in place for a while to reel back all the legalities. What "progress" is there to be had with more government control over the private sector and normal citizen's lives?
  14. The funny thing is, Trump had like ~%15 chance of winning. Clinton and crew were all basically smug and confident about near certain victory. He had to win ALL of the states Romney won, almost all of the swing states, and one or two traditionally blue states. Even after ALL the negative news and stereotypes from the liberal media, Hollywood, and academia. On top of all that, he had to win over his own party and get their shit together. All without having any political career before in D.C., facing off the personification of "entrenched, corrupt politician". Last year, when he announced his candidacy, everyone thought it was a joke. Well, guess he's laughing now. And even then, he still has a long 4 years ahead of him., as the media will probably be on his ass 24/7 looking for ANYTHING to throw in his face if he screws up. Something they would never do to Obama or would have done with Clinton. Whether you like or not, you do have to respect that is quite the underdog story worthy of being in the history books. Also, for those of you saying it's all over for America....just....stop. I mean what is the worst is he going to do? Build a wall? woopie doo. Same with Clinton. She would be Obama 2.0 + a touch of feminism. Would I like it, no, but I know it's not world ending. The fate of the balance of the country never relied on one election, in fact it's scary thinking about all the people betting such a thing on just one man (or in this election , woman). The president should not be relied on for the country's future. That's a sign he/she has too much power. The reason I voted Trump is that he is reversing all of the crappy, abusive executive orders being tossed out on critical legislation as a way to bypass Congress, therefore lowering the power of the executive branch, which is a good thing in the long run.
  15. The memes have won boys.
