    E3 2016

Pretty solid show from Microsoft. I'm getting the Spring Bundle XBONE that comes with Halo 5, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Rare Replay and a digital download for Ori and the Blind Forest for my birthday, and with all these announcements, I am actually pretty hype to getting it as my whitelist is growing. I must say, Microsoft is really getting their shit together lately. Thank you based Phil.

I don't care what anyone says, I am rather excited for the new Battlefield. I've never been this hype for one, in fact, I've never was hype for Battlefield before. The only Battlefield I've played was the 1942 demo way back when I had no idea what I was doing. Also it sucks I won't be able to see Bethesda live because of work. I wonder how they will top last year's show.
  3. Funny you should mention that cooler, while I was updating my build, I replaced my first one with exactly that. Imagine that. But currently my CPU, is not a K-Class i5, so I don't know what good it'll do me. Speaking of over clocking, is it common to over clock with gaming? Or is over clocking reserved for video editing and shit? I mean, I'd be happy to drop it if I don't need it. But it would be nice to be on the safe side. Also speaking of updating, apparently my current build was not compatible with ANY of the motherboards they have listed so, I had to redo my GPU/CPU only after choosing the motherboard and that seemed to work. But still, hnng. Anyway, here's the updated build. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/PvBfr7
  4. WTF as in good tier, or WTF as in shit tier? Also I heard that AMD cards have problems with drivers and such, so I'm hesitant with those cards.
  5. My current build. It seems to be in a good price range so far, but for some reason, it won't let me choose a motherboard. Is it because any motherboard would be incompatible with what I got, or is it simply a glitch with the site?

    TIAM: General Gaming edition

    10/10 reviewing.
  8. So, a couple nights ago, I accidentally screwed over my laptop in a fit of rage, (another topic for another time), and so I sulked about for a day, but later last night, I sat there thinking, feeling sorry for myself, when I realized that now was not the time to fret or worry, but instead take this moment as one of opportunity. Ever since they've been announced, I've been really curious about Steam Machines and the Steam OS. I always figured that one day, once I got a place of my own and no longer relying on my parent's internet and all that, that I'd invest in a Steam Machine for general gaming, and just have a cheap laptop for general web browsing and MS Office stuff for work/school. But I guess that decision is coming sooner than I thought. And with all the variety available, I knew that I'd have a tough time choosing. So, after a lot of research, and some help of this chart (organised by the 'Value' tab from best to worst) and it helped narrow my search a bit, but I'm still having trouble deciding what to get. That's where you guys come in. I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to the best performing CPUs/GPUs and RAM and all that techno crap. I just want a machine that can run most modern games at least 60 fps at medium settings, and you nerds probably have more expertise than I do on this stuff. And so I come to you for a bit more perspective in helping me choose which one to buy. So far, on the list, the Syber brand seems to be dominant, so I'm currently eyeing one of those. But, there are others that look promising, but if you guys have any personal experience with a particular Steam Machine that you'd recommend over what's on the list or something. DISCLAIMER: I do not guarantee that these opinions will influence my decision at all, but it will at least bring a new perspective from someone who is more of a tech geek than I am. Now, I'm not too particular about specs, as I'm not looking for the most expensive, ultra-mega pro deluxe parts, as I don't see the logic in paying $50+ more for one machine that gets me only like 10-20 more fps than another machine that has the same specs, aside from that particular graphics card or whatever. However, I don't want a steaming (kek), overpriced, pile of technological crap sitting on my desk, thus, wasting my hard-earned money. I need a balance of price and performance, though I'm more open to slightly lower end technology if that means shaving off a few $50s. Hell, I was perfectly content on playing competitive TF2 with a fps script that made it look like Minecraft on a Dell laptop. That should show you how low my standards are. That being said, here are a few hard limits as a starting point to go on from most prioritized to least. Price: Probably the biggest (though definitely not only) factor determining my choice. I'm quite frugal (a trait I guess that I inherited from dad) as I just started my first job at Walmart for $10/hr for (so far) 32 hrs/week. I calculated that my net pay for my first paycheck will be ~ $500 as I'm paid semi-monthly. So right off the bat I'd be able to afford the cheapest choices on that list. That being said, my hard limit for price currently is $1k and even that is pushing it. Anything higher, I'd be too reluctant to give up that much cash for. So that already knocks a few high-end choices off the list, (for example, the #2 spot, the Syber Steam Machine X). Storage: As this will be primarily a gaming console, a lot of memory is a must, especially considering how big games are getting these days (Doom 4 is more than 50 gigs alone!). So, a 500 GB console isn't going to last very long. My minimum is ~1TB. (This means that the only non-Syber brand machine in the top 5 of the list can't make the cut, even though it's the cheapest one.) RAM: Not particular about RAM, but I know that 8 GB is good enough for most games. Pretty simple to understand that one. (As mentioned earlier, this combined with low storage space knocks the #4 spot off for me.) CPU/GPU: Now this one is the most confusing parts for me as there is just so much variety in this category, I don't know where to start. All I know is my laptop had an Intel Core i7 processor which was a good one? I guess? I don't know. I just want something that gets me at least 60 fps on most games on at least medium settings, is that too hard? The only reason it's not #2 next to price on my priority list isn't because I don't care enough for it, it's just so confusing remembering which one is which that I can't care enough for it, even though it should be top priority. I just simply don't know. Size: Size definitely isn't everything for PCs, in fact, smaller is generally better as far as mobility is concerned. One of the major advantages of my laptop was that I could take it anywhere in the house and still have fun, the only limitation being it had to be on a charger otherwise it crashes. Though at first glance, it could mean it carries less powerful components. Alienware, and Syber seem to dominate this category, as a single Steam Controller is like half the size of the console itself if you've seen pictures. Don't know about the other brands though. Customization/Upgradability: I'm not much one for customization and upgradability on a machine. If it works for me, then it works, that's why I want to get it right the first time. This category also means that I need some personal testimony on what you can customize and upgrade, and all I could find in that department was from Alienware, so if you have any experience with the non-Alienware machines, feel free to speak up. Aesthetics: The bottom of the priority list for obvious reasons. It could look like a metal dildo for all I care, as long as it runs my games decently, I don't give too much of a damn. I mean, it would be a nice change from the black/grey blocky trend going on with a lot of PCs, so a good look is just going to be icing on cake for me. In advance, thanks for the help. inb4lolsteammachines inb4justbuildyourown inb4justgetwin10pc

Ok now, THAT Battlefield looks interesting. I wonder how it will compete with Verdun though.
  10. .......Works for me.
  11. iunno. He's a fierce competitor and not above getting abrasive obviously. But after the fight is over, he seems very pleasant. It just seems like his personality.
  12. Well if you saw his little speech after finding out Cruz got out of the race, he seemed pretty grateful for the hard fought win. Considering his reaction after the fierce debates, he enjoys a good bout, even if it's a little dirty. Cruz was also very graceful in his loss and advocated for uniting under Trump in order to beat Hillary.
  13. Personally, I wouldn't care if either Cruz or Trump won, I'd vote for either, though I preferred Trump, and I'm glad both were very gracious loser/winner. Though I gotta say, it was a very interesting Primary, and no matter who won, the Republican establishment were shitting themselves, which was amusing to watch. Who would of thought the 'joke' candidate would win the nomination. It's like watching a Jigglypuff main winning a Smash tourney. Let's just hope that the 'anti-Trumpers' of the Repubs forgo their differences and vote Trump for the main race. Now all we have to do is wait and see if Sanders will keep fighting Hillary, or get the memo like Cruz against Trump. Though winning Indiana means that won't happen until California's turn, even though it's clear Hillary was chosen since day one. It'll only benefit Trump though, because he can just focus on Hillary, while she has a two-front battle still. #Raison4Prez2020
  14. Damn, I knew that one was vague. I didn't entirely knew what you meant by 'the decline' I reasoned temperature if we were in context. I admit, that was a mistake in my part. In which case, no, they didn't talk about 'the decline'. Of course you would get those right with such vague statements on the other side of the coin. As a documentary, those topics are bound to come up. It's how they explain said topics is what I'm trying to get at. 1.) Not talked about at all. 2.) Deconstructed. A general statement for science. 3.) Of course, that's the side they were shooting for. I don't deny it was biased, as I pointed out earlier. 4.) Deconstructed. Yet another general statement for science. 5.) (Correcting myself here) Not talked about. 6.) (Correcting myself again) That was just me being a dick, I'm sorry. They do touch upon it a bit, but not much detail. 7.) You got that one right, minus the "pulled out of ass part" I took the liberty to correct you there. 8.) Another general statement. There just happened to be a more specific example in there thanks to "An Inconvenient Truth" 9.) The only specific example out of this list. Due the significance of that meeting in which the whole '97% of scientists agree' argument, which was heavily deconstructed in the documentary. 10.) The most general statement concerning man-made climate change. That's the entire basis of the skeptic argument. How could you not be right about that one. If we were going with what you got 100% correct, I'd go 3/10 right. If you add partially correct ones that were heavily deconstructed, it's either 7 or 8/10. This one does admit that it was trying to simplify the points of their side to the audience. Nonetheless it was of good quality, and it still kept to the facts, and it wasn't all conjecture. It was trying to point out the ludicrousness of the alarmist headlines when it comes to climate change, and how the media and government is taking advantage of that to push their agendas under the guise of environmentalism. I'll be sure to do that.
  15. FTFY The conclusion is that man-made climate change is a myth, perpetuated by alarmist mainstream media and supported by greedy politicians who just want more power over our lives. That's what this documentary has shown me, and with the data provided, that's what I've come to agree with. I urge you to look at the documentary yourself and see if your mind has changed or not. If it isn't, that's fine, at least you gave it a chance and not just scoff it off as just another right-wing conspiracy theorist on a soapbox (which it clearly isn't, I can assure you).
  16. Well, I just watched the documentary quoted in that article at the local mall's theater for a special one-time showing event going on. The documentary in question, "Climate Hustle", talks about the growing skepticism on the scam that is human-made climate change, as it debunks every single point climate activists have down to the letter. It was of good quality, but at times can be a bit cringe-y with the little tidbits of humor it throws in there, but otherwise was a thought-provoking adventure that I must applaud. The biggest downside was that it was basically preaching to the choir, due to the type of crowd I saw there (a.k.a. already conservative-thinking elderly, who were already skeptics themselves), so I was disappointed by the lack of kids my age attending, with a strong feeling of the few young people there either being forced by their parents for preaching one too many times at home about the environment, or they were like me and already mostly agreed with the skeptics. It was probably because that it wasn't advertised enough but whatever. At least we didn't have screaming protesters sitting outside trying to shut the event down. As for Palin, the quote will be better explained in context, you know, the thing this article likes to throw out the window. The comment was part of her reaction to a clip of the documentary's creator interviewing Nye, where Nye himself outright states that he hopes that the documentary shows how bs the skeptic's side on global warming/climate change is after watching part of it and prove him right. In reality, the clip only shows how much of a tool Bill Nye is and the creator just starts cracking up on it. Palin was just pointing this out this in a humorous way by comparing Nye's scientific knowledge to her own, as a sign of the ridiculousness of his statements. I wanted to speak up on that article when it was posted, but refrained due to not caring as much since it wasn't really "news" to begin with. But after watching the documentary, it reminded me of it, and I thought I could add something to the discussion. In conclusion, the verdict for me is that article is tabloid-level horseshit and shouldn't be taken at all seriously, thank you.

It's kinda bittersweet for me. On one hand, a lot of hackers got banned and LMAOBOX is no more. On the other hand, I feel ashamed to play for a league that had all the top players (mainly Snipers) in each div turn out to be hackers. On the bright side, this will leave room for (hopefully) legit talent to come across to fill the void.

http://www.vg247.com/2016/04/20/xbox-360-production-ceased/ Looks like the Xbox 360 has ceased production. A real bittersweet feeling really. On one hand, I totally understand the reason for the action as it is OLD hardware and it's about time to move on to focusing on 8th gen. On the other hand, the 360, as well as 7th gen in general, has shad such an impact for console gaming, for being such a long-lasting, solid console. I have very fond memories of the great games that came out on it, in particular, the Gears of War series, and Halo 3 and Reach, as well as a few others. It may not be the first gaming console I played, but it was the first one that got me onto online gaming, and was the one I used the most out before moving on to the PC. Thankfully they aren't shutting down software and online support like they did the original Xbox. So those that have a 360 will still enjoy Xbox Live and some more software updates until slowly it dies out. Such a symbolic end of an era of sorts.
