So when I came home, I had left the radio on NPR and heard "Talk of the Nation". They were discussing the shooting, and naturally soccer moms called in blaming video games and guns. I caught two different conversations: Caller: I saw a twelve year old girl drown a characther in a video game and she didn't even care. She said it was virtual. Host: Yes, but studies have shown that violent games cause no increase in aggressive behavior with children. It's like comic books when I was a kid. People said we'd turn out to be violent maniacs but obviously that never happened. C: But studies can change. Later, different caller: C: The gun expert you had on earlier, he said Switzerland had no gun control laws. That's not a problem for them because they don't have an army. H: Switzerland, uh, Switzerland has universal conscription for its militia. C: (Silence, then after a few seconds) They don't have wars, it's a problem with America and how we glorify violence.
