    So while tf2 is wonky...

I still cringe when I hear TF2 being referred to as a free game.

Still one of the largest in the world, and if there's peace, why bring up war with religion? This thread has evolved and the less said about my childhood the better.

Like a savings account or stock market investment? A huge army and nukes aren't enough for you? Certainly the backing of one of the most powerful nations of the world means more than a stupid mineral. Nothing lasts, and you don't seem too concerned.

Oops, disease, your chickens died. ♥♥♥♥ing harsh. There goes your finances. Yeah, you can just do so much with useless ♥♥♥♥ing metal, can't you?

"You give me bill, I give you shit."Not that different than bartering.

It's a theory now. At least money is tangible and justice rather basic.

And that clears religion?Either way, if the world had no religion, or one religion that never quarreled, it would probably be a lot more advanced and peaceful. One war based on "he has a different god than me" is more than enough. There is nothing pettier than a religious war.

WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam weren't caused by religion directly.Pretty much any conflict in the Middle East ever have religion in them. And any war ever, only really ceding to nationalism and economic reasons in the mid 18th century. But we've had a lot less wars since then, really.

I'll assume the first one is WWII because it says "iwo" in the file name. That's the 40s, 50s, and 60s-70s. 9/11 was in 2001, which is much more recent than the others. "Everything (well, almost everything) you know about Islam and the Crusades is wrong because most textbooks and popular history books are written by left-wing academics and Islamic apologists who justify their contemporary political agendas with contrived historical 'facts'." Sounds like something written by a nutjob on the religious right.

Well we don't have them anymore, so why reminisce about it? One person doesn't mean much to a government.

Gold and oil are too valuable to be used as a basis for currency. Never been to Somalia, have you? A prison kingpin with outside connections orders a lowly thug to kill a nosy guard or else he'll have his family killed on the outside. If the guy automatically dies, we'll never know now will we? Do I even have to tell you about the shitstorm that would cause? The ACLU and other groups would decry the government for this "blatantly unconstitutional action".

In an optimal system, the appendix would do its "job", then wither away as it is useless and consumes energy. My dad had his appendix removed 10 or so years ago, and he hasn't changed at all.

There's actually an argument about that. If I'm all-powerful I think I can make a stupid fucking bat or bird fly regardless of its bone structure.

Don't forget: We use the same passage for breathing and eating, leading to choking. Our need to breathe is controlled not by O2 levels, but by CO2 levels. This means in low-oxygen environments, we can die without even knowing it, and this is actually being exploited as a humane way of execution. Telomeres have an unfortunate tendency to shorten leading to inevitable gene damage. And I only really know about geology concerned about biology, which is one of my passions.

Hardly any organisms are fossilized. The conditions have to be JUST right, and fossils are generally regarded as the weakest form of evidence for descent with modification. Biochemical similarities in all organisms (DNA is universally accepted by all life, a bacterial cell can make human insulin), analogy (birds and bats both evolved wings for their environments, but aren't that related to each other) and homology (humans, bats, and all other mammals have virtually the same bone structure), and drug resistance in bacteria (natural selection happening very quickly) all show hard evidence of evolution, more than any fossils ever can. This is going to blow your mind, but we actually have more support for the Theory of Evolution than the Theory of Gravity. But you don't deny gravity, because you can see it happen. 50,000 years is really, really, really, pushing C-14. That is the absolute farthest it can be used, and it will likely be extraordinarily inaccurate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleomagnetism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amino_acid_dating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tephrochronology I'm not very versed in geology however.

One of the flaws about teaching evolution is this: It doesn't work like that, with drastic changes. Minute changes, over millions of years, add up to create such distinctions. A "fish" (no fishes existed then, a common ancestor related to what we can call a modern fish) can become a cat rather easily if given enough time. The ocean gets crowded, so the "fish" learns to waddle on land for short periods to evade predators. The "fish" with good "legs" will eventually get better and better, growing lungs to breath oxygen. Over time, it spends less and less time in the water, until it no longer needs to swim, and becomes a mammal-like creature. It gets quite simple from there. Of course this probably didn't happen as I haven't studied it much, but it could have. What, my word isn't good enough? Isn't the Bible just someone's word? I assure you, they are not. Even if they miss by 500,000,000 years, that still makes Earth ~4 billion years old. C-14 is NEVER used to test anything older than 10,000 or so years with accuracy. There are other, more advanced ways to date rocks and fossils.

Yes, if they believe creationism, they must also believe I can make gold out of water overnight. Both aren't science, and cannot be tested. There is a difference between not believing in the current evolutionary theory and believing in creationism, one is skepticism, the other is blindness. These aren't stupid preteens. Most of those people have gone to school to learn about biology for 10+ years and know more about biology than you or me, so when they say they are fairly certain something in biology is right: Maybe if I were an idiot.

When they say "undeniable proof" they mean "I am 99.9999999% sure this is correct."I don't see the proof religion has, other than to believe in God. However, science has a lot of evidence, it's complicated as hell but it's there. And by the time we reach the end of the book, we'll all be dead anyhow.
