Fifteen minutes of conversation, give or take.

Alright, time to explain what's going on here. The new forum will use Discourse, which is similar to a conventional forum in many regards (sections, subforums, topics, posts). It's a major headache to configure, which is why the deadline is so far off (and why it was started so long ago). Replies to a post are accessible immediately below the post, which makes it easier to follow a particular conversation. All of the posts are still listed in chronological order, which means that the forum provides conventional functionality as well. The main difference between our current system and Discourse is in visual aesthetics and design. It's far less rigidly structured (e.g. board icons spread out to fill the screen). Obviously the color scheme and general design is much different from what we have currently. I'm curious as to how configurable this will be. Personally, I'd be more comfortable with using IPS4, since it's not much of a jump from our current forum. However, change isn't necessarily bad, and I do think we need to give this new format a try now that it's been laid out before us.

Wait, now I've seen a picture of a Reddit clone and a picture of a Discourse board. I'm highly confused.
-
I cannot access the website for some peculiar reason. Screenshots?

Are you trying to sell us snake oil? You've espoused upon the mystical, wondrous properties of this new system, yet are incredibly cagey about discussing its specifics- nay, even its fundamental components. I can't seem to sign in. Is it access-restricted to a certain group?

VERDICT: The heist is pretty good. Day two is a bit excessive on the cops (did it solo on Very Hard and got 366 kills) and has some visual lag (quite a large map). Day one is basically a recycling of a TON of old assets, but it works pretty well. And no, it's not a Rats clone. You have the opportunity to cook meth for extra ducats, though. Preplanning is a joke. You place some meds and ammo on both days, and on the first you can get a sniper or reduce the number of enemies you have to kill for the first objective. 0/10. No idea about the guns yet, finding out now.

Children in Africa are starving and you're worried about only getting half of the DLC? Buy all of the DLC to make them feel sad.

IT'S HAPPENING FOR REAL Downloadan now.
-
It's on steam now, but you can't buy it and it doesn't appear in searches pls EDIT: It's purchasable now.

>Cheevo for cooking six bags of meth oh god it'd better not be a clone of rats

It's more layered, which makes it easier to respond to specific posts than just a line of quotes. Like our current board is linear, one post after another. This has multiple layers all at different times. This is not a better explanation. Are you trying to create a Reddit-esque tree system with upvoting and downvoting?
-
then can you please tell us what exactly it is? I have no aversion to new junk but it would be nice to have specifics on exactly what said new junk is/does. To be perfectly honest, I thought this was satire- and still do. "context-rich thread system" returns absolutely nothing on Google, and "proven software basis" is utterly meaningless by itself. A very much well-thought-out explanation would be greatly welcome.
-
Oh come on Commander, you can't just make decisions because they use a proven software basis! You also need to ensure that the meta-syntactical flow of the forum is maintained by using holistic content-management schemes such as SHP and EFS. I suggest you also look into DTT- it's a very powerful technology that builds upon proven software bases. I would suggest a layout scheme that makes full use of synergy, as specified in ISO 90295-306.a.III.F.(2).iv. Any self-respecting forum administrator can recite the keenly synergy-related contents of ISO 90295-306.a.III.F.(2).iv by heart, so I won't bother reproducing it here. ISO 90295-306.a.III.F.(2).iv is the future of synergy. Also, have you considered making every member a superuser? I think this would effect the cause of user empowerment and help to harmonize the denizens of the forum. You could probably do so by employing agile software development processes that fully eschew the clunky, outdated waterfall methodology in favor of an abstract, spatio-temporal-free system.

Microsoft possibly buying Minecraft for $2 Billion
<Witty Name> replied to John Caveson's topic in Current Events, News & Politics
Ehh, that's a bad argument imo. Of course all the Halo games are going to be "man in power armor shoots bad people in singleplayer and men in power armor shoot each other in multiplayer". That's the core of the game. If I made L4D3 and made it a romantic drama visual novel with quick time events, literally no one is going to thank me for refreshing the series from its tired and overdone "four humans kill other humans which are not actually humans" thing. Eh, yeah, you're right about that. The question that leaves me with, then, is why we have new games at all. Beyond complete engine changes, what can be accomplished with a new title that can't be accomplished with some DLC? -

Of course, to play devil's advocate, what's the point of releasing new games if you don't change the mechanics? As an outsider to the Halo series, I don't see a great deal of variety- man in power armor shoots bad people in singleplayer and men in power armor shoot each other in multiplayer. How do the games differ in combat mechanics? Were Halo Reach / Halo 4 the only major shift in style, or were there other changes between 1/2/3? -
The Muldon stock takes up too much of the screen for my taste. I use the Police Shorty so that I experience no recoil whatsoever.

"Backseat moderating" is a bit of an odd term, though. "Shitposting" essentially means deliberately failing to contribute to a discussion by deliberately making incomprehensible, irrelevant, or facetious arguments. If someone attacks me in a debate with a completely irrelevant point, I can retort by rejecting the notion that they're contributing to the discussion. I probably wouldn't say they're shitposting, per se, but I'm essentially saying the same thing with less force. Where is the line drawn between meta criticism ("you're shitposting") and non-meta criticism ("you make no sense and your points are meaningless")? It seems like a bit of a headache for moderators.

You made..... nothing? It's completely white. Are you trying to view it on a white background? here's a better link

>rifleman Then Speculator Sight is a straight upgrade Let me explain how this works: Speculator Sight: Literally hitler. Absolutely useless in all situations. Disgusting. Vomit-inducing. Solar Sight: The weaponized embodiment of Jesus. Inspires joy. Cures cancer.

Puzzle: Put sword into skeleton until skeleton dies

It's more of a Pay 2 Do Slightly Better (P2DSB) game. The alternate playstyles afforded by unlockable weapons are definitely an advantage, but at the end of the day, a moderately skilled player with no unlocks will still probably beat a low-skilled player whose mum gave him $500 for digital items
