You can get the Scars version for about a buck. I was kinda surprised about that, actually. EDIT: I should probably clarify that I was at my LGS when I got my copy of mindslaver. I guess that's the only card they sell that's actually below the current going price because it's currently much more online.

    Ingress

I'm enjoying it. I may also have a kind of unfair advantage, seeing as there's approximately 1 bajillion portals on my campus.
  5. I mean...it's better than naming your kid Khaleesi. That was her TITLE, people. Not her name. That being said, Daenerys is actually kind of a pretty name.

Same way people have been trans in historical cultures that didn't have access to modern medical procedures. They said "hey I know I have a dick but I feel like there was a clerical mistake and I should have a vagina instead kthnx."* *Disclaimer: Alex is not a gender analyst and actually has no idea if this is the case even in modern society please don't dox me

Oh, definitely. Whatever, it's not a big deal. She still kicks ass and is gonna make a fucking awesome commander.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Eh. It's not THAT far off the mark, I'd say. I'm not too sure about the Mongolians specifically, but many nomadic tribes that were historically similar to the Mardu (Steppe people like the Huns and Mongolians, some plains Native American tribes) were actually pretty cool with people who we'd call "trans" today. In fact, some Native American tribes actually placed enormous religious importance on these people, who were seen as being closer to the spirit world because of their dual nature. The whole concept of your birth gender not being your actual gender isn't just a modern European one.

So in the latest Uncharted Realms (basically short stories that they use to expand the lore) they revealed that Alesha (the Mardu khan in FRF) is actually a trans woman. The article went up about 20 minutes ago and there's already a shitstorm going on. Hoo boy, here we go.

If your playgroup's cool with the Nephilim as generals (they're the only 4-color creatures in the game and have ridiculous effects) then Ink-Treader Nephilim is insane.

    Guild Wars 2

Oh yeah, if anyone still plays-add me, my ranger's name is Timuk Beardude. I've also got a Charr Necromancer and a human elementalist, but the ranger's my main.

    Game Grumps

Yeah, Jon all but confirmed that something happened between him and Arin at E3 2013. Seems like they may be moving past it now

    Game Grumps

This picture, along with their announcement that this February was going to be mostly devoted to them finishing games they've already started, is making people on Reddit think that this means Jon's gonna maybe come back for Sonic '06. I doubt it'll happen, but hey-could be fun.

    The Moon God Has Fallen

Never actually occurred to me that we as a community would have to deal with something like this. I didn't know him very well, but he really did seem like a good guy. Hope his family's okay in the coming months.

    Game Deals Announcement Thread

Bunch of old Star Wars games released today on GOG.com, including Empire at War, Galactic Battlegrounds, Rebellion, and Rogue Squadron 3D. All pretty cheap, too.

Your Selesnya deck seems...odd. You have next to zero token producers, but a shitload of populate cards and Emmara Tandris.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

You know, I completely forgot about the archetypes, those're fantastic. Also, I'd never heard of reconnaisance, that's an amazing card-Gatherer pointed out that if something has first strike (like Alesha does) you can have her deal damage to the blocker, then pull her out before their damage hits her. Fantastic. Also, no-my friend's the one with the Kruphix list. I'll ask him if he has it online when he gets home later, but it's basically your run of the mill "stack mana up and then hydra for a billion" deck. Plays a lot of stuff like Doubling Cube and Prophet. You know. Simic bullshit. EDIT: Holy fuck, Duplicant exiles ANY creature? Wow, ok that's a fuckload better than I thought it'd be. Unconditional removal that gets around indestructible and then you get that creature. Why am I not playing this in every deck ever?!

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Edh brainstorming time-today's theme is Alesha, who smiles at death and her immortal army of 2-power minons, with anthems. Think Mardu hatebears/good stuff. Go.
  19. Is steam being really, really slow and clunky for people lately? Like, I can't even send messages anymore because the chat window just freezes.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

I was talking about this with a friend-I definitely saw Treasure Cruise getting banned, but the other two came out of nowhere for me. Not sure how exactly I feel about it. EDIT: Somebody on reddit pointed out that this is kind of a unique ban-Treasure Cruise got banned/restricted in every single format at the absolute earliest opportunity. The only other card that's even comparable this way is Mental Misstep, and that's still ok in Vintage.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

I'm still not sure if I like manifest. I only used one card that had it (rageform) and the one time I played it, I manifested a typhoid rats. So it wasn't really worth it to flip, and it got removed the turn after anyways. The one other time I had a card manifest under my control (some opponent's card that gave me one, I think), it was a burn spell that would've won me the game if I'd actually drawn it-the guy brought out Daghatar and just beat me up with it. I needed that burn spell to get rid of him, but it just didn't happen.

You can get her for $2-3 right now and she's not even technically out yet, I don't see her being much more than that. Warrior tribal seems like it could be fun with her. Most of those guys are less than 3 mana, although you'll be hurting a bit by missing out on stuff like Raiders' Spoils and Brutal Hordechief-without them, you'll need to find another decent finisher for the deck.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

I did SO GOOD at the prerelease. Well...not really good play-wise, but with pulls I did fantastic-I pulled 2 Brutal Hordechiefs (one of which was my foil promo), a Ghastly Conscription, and Tasigur (the new Sultai khan), which I then traded for the new Mardu khan and the red/green legendary dragon. Also bought a Voltaic Key, Scuttling Doom Engine, a French Darksteel Forge (it was the only one they had in stock) and a Mindslaver. Very happy with what I got today. Also went 2-2, so that was cool too. I built just straight Rakdos aggro and it was actually really fun.
  24. Can confirm, was once Christian and was triggered by math in school.

    Star Wars Thread

Yeah, I understand that it's basically technology constraints that did it. I still hate it though. Also, I want an alternate universe where Obi Wan and Ventress were the same personality-wise, but were bounty hunter partners instead of Jedi/Sith apprentice. Kinda like a buddy cop thing in space with so much more snark.
