2 hours ago, Rynjin said:I thought it was pretty fun. I'm also gonna be honest, some of the complaints don't really track with my experience; I've never needed to repair a gun before I'm ready to craft the next gun anyway. Same with the food meter, which is automated anyway with the feed bag. Honestly it sounds like you might have been playing on an online server where somebody tweaked a few values to make the game "more hardcore".
Armor repair sucks cock though, especially on hats.
I am playing on my own map, all I changed was increasing stamina, exp and health regen on Palbox.
I'm ok with the hunger mechanic and the feed bag, I just feel it drains a bit too fast on attacks. Just a few attacks from my Bushi shouldn't drain half of their hunger meter, and he doesn't has any bad traits to make it so.
Meanwhile, Pals that attack passively like my Dazzi don't drain hunger.
The thing about repairing weapons is more because I had uncommon ones that require ancient parts (also because getting ore is a bitch since you can't automate that). After using my crossbow for a while, I try to repair it when it reaches 50% durability, and that alone costs 2 ancient parts.
Also, I am probably handcapping myself because I have no idea if the Fire/Poison variations of the bow and crossbow do more flat damage, since I had that uncommon. Why do you even have to research a new crossbow to fire the same arrow but on fire anyway?
It took me a while to learn that shields meant "equipable recharging FPS shields" and not "placeable shield domes"

Decided to try out Palworld. Its a clickbait game.
Not terrible, its your average survival crafting with base building, pretty much a bit of Ark and a bit of Rimworld. Really needs some updates though.
There is a serious lack of balance between gathering and consuming. Leaving your Pals out or making them attack drains their hunger WAY too fast, I had a Pal in a fight with a full meter, and a few seconds later he had less than half.
Armor and items have durability, which is by far my most disliked mechanic in a game. There is no option to disable durability in your world, so you are often gathering stuff just to repair the stuff you used to gather.
Upgraded armor requires rare items that you can only find defeating bosses, but armor can break in a few hits because it apparently decreases 1 point of durability per 1 point of damage.
You are already having to gather ore, coal, charcoal, sulfur and other stuff to make a gun and bullets, but you also have to bother with fixing the gun very often with the cost being as high as the crafting cost.
It tries to do what Rimworld does, but the AI is completely braindead.
I had to redesign my base TWICE because Pals kept getting stuck or teleporting into somewhere they couldn't get down. I saw some Pals getting stuck on an OPEN AREA, because they somehow walked outside the base area and their AI went haywire, wiggling back and forth on the edge of the base. I saw a fire Pal getting stuck because it couldn't light up a torch, even if it was RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.
I witnessed some Pals pick up a rock, walk a few meters, drop the rock, walk back, stop, walk back to the rock they just dropped, walk towards a chest, drop the rock again, walk back, walk to the rock, pick it up, drop it in the chest, ONLY TO PICK IT OFF THAT CHEST THEY JUST PUT TO BRING IT TO ANOTHER CHEST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BASE.
There are no work order or priorities, so you can't make a Pal only do one kind of job, they do everything they can and keep stopping to cycle between all their jobs.
Also, there is no slavery. Yes, you can capture humans, but not only they are far harder to capture, they suck as workforce since they are limited to creating items at a slow speed. You can't even force humans or Pals to do stuff, if they are annoyed, they stop doing tasks until they feel better.
That trailer with the weapon assembly line and crying creatures? All fake. The assembly line is just another crafting bench.
Overall, needs to cook more.

Even if you say the chances are a million to one, people will gamble because they believe they will be that one eventually.

Today I saw a real life Karen. You know, the "I wanna speak to your manager" kind of woman.
I was in line to get a milk shake and in front of me there was this 50 to 60 years old woman. I thought she was going to just buy an ice cream or something, but then she said she wanted... to complain. Oh boy.
From what I understood, she tried to buy an ice cream on the stand near the entrance of the shopping, but they were closing since it was already 10PM. By the shopping rules, all stores other than the Food Court and cinema start to close at 10PM.
So the clerk told her she should go to the food court and buy an ice cream at the restaurant, as they were closed.
Apparently that was unforgivable, because she JUST wanted an ice cream, and she had to walk ALL THE WAY to the food court (2 minutes walk) for it. Then when she gets there, she gets in line to complain about that clerk. Her face said it all, she just wanted to complain and try to get the gratification of being "right" and "superior" after being denied something.
She kept repeating to the clerk of the restaurant that she wanted to speak with someone about the other clerk, but they would all look at her with a "this bitch for real" face while trying (and failing) to suppress a smirk.
The manager gets there, hears her and basically goes "but what is the actual problem here?". ALL THIS WHILE MORE PEOPLE ARE WAITING IN LINE BY THE WAY.
Then the manager has to go get this clerk to hear what she has to say, so she can gently
tell her to fuck offexplain to the Karen that the clerk didn't do nothing wrong. While the clerk didn't get there, they finally move the Karen aside so more people can make their orders already.Lady, I never met you and don't even know who you are. But I really hope you step on a really filthy rain puddle with socks on.

I think the only 2000's era FPS that stuck on my mind was Urban Chaos on the PS2.
I actually enjoyed the riot shield gameplay. It was developed by Rocksteady, and it seems it was their first game. And the only one before they started to suck DC dong.
-
I actually never saw any gameplay of that game, all I know about it is the yellow helmet cover and that it was a "Halo killer".

Taking another look at my library, I remembered of a few that I played in 2023, but they were just a blurred memory.
SpoilerNo Man's Sky: Yep. Its a game, alright.
Bit boring. Bit bland. Some cool scenery, cool ships, but eventually you already have seen everything it has to offer, as the planets, creatures and loot just start to blur together due the sameness.
Made a cool base, messed around with some systems, found the best ships and frigates around, upgraded my armor and weapon to really high levels... And then there was nothing else to do.
I could jump from planet to planet to learn all the words. I could try to finish the "story". I could try to reach the center of the Universe.
But it don't mattah. None of this mattah.
Staxel: What do you get when you pick Minecraft, strip it of nearly every mechanic it has, sprinkle a bit of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing and make every block be composed of smaller blocks?
A really boring game.
I was impressed on how little there is to do in this game. There is no reason to do anything.
Upgrading tools is useless because the starting ones already do everything very well. Doing the same quests for NPCs over and over has no point because there is no friendship or marriage.
The map system is useless. There is little customization. Just get Minecraft and download some mods.
Rogue Genesia: You know those Square Enix HD2D games with 3D 2D sprites and lots of bloom and blur? This is the Vampire Survivors-clone of that.
It can be fun, but the difficulty ramp up is incredibly broken. Depending of what you choose, enemies become massive damage sponges. I had the final boss have 300k health on one game and 3 billion on another.
Lots of upgrades are useless, lots of upgrades are the same.
Enemy spawns are also a problem, because they leave you no room to dodge or dash. You can dash through a group, only to land in the middle of another, or the SAME GROUP because they teleported as soon they got off screen.
Shapez: I think puzzle games are not for me. At least conveyor belt/assembly line puzzle games.
You mine the shapes, you cut the shapes, you rotate the shapes, you paint the shapes, then deliver them to the center. Starts easy, get way too complicated. Basically turns into an idle game midway.
Space is limited, so eventually you are remodeling your entire setup so you can mine 6 different shapes, so you can cut them in 4 parts, rotate them in different directions, then glue them back, mix 3 kinds of colors, bring that color to another belt so you can paint the glued shape, to then bring it into another line to mix with another different shape to then deliver to the center.
Maddening.
10 Second Ninja: A little distraction. Pretty much a flash game. You have 10 seconds to kill all enemies, long range attacks are limited.
Find the best path, do it fast as shit.
Was ok. Got bored after 1 hour, but yeah.

Aren't Evangelions just outworldly big meaty beings with a fabricated exoskeleton controlled by humans in a port in the spine?
Kinda like Titans are big meaty beings that can equip or generate exoskeletons and are controlled by humans from the spine.

Is Attack on Titan and Evangelion mecha?

Played Jet Set Radio for the first time.
REALLY tried to like it, but I started to get really angry with the controls.
Turning is really stiff, you take too long to build speed, jumping is delayed and incredibly inaccurate (the direction depends of the camera, and its always moving), moves come out at random, some rails have this huge hitbox that causes you to grind when you don't want, some rails have a hit box way too small so you keep jumping over them, there are only two voice lines per character ("Yeah!") and the soundtrack is mostly bad.
I got past two levels and decided to try to get the sprays, but I just couldn't get a few of them because you need to be WAY too precise to reach them and the controls just don't help.
You need to get the perfect speed, then try to hit a rail diagonally so you can grind in one direction, then jump at the right moment so you reach the next rail without overshooting, then do another precise jump and hope you had enough speed for your jump to get enough height to reach the spray.
After like 40 tries, listening to some trash hip hop, hearing the same "Yeah!" over and over, always missing the jump because the camera turned a bit when I jumped or because I missed just a bit of speed, I gave up, said "fuck this" and uninstalled.
Fucking hell, Tony Hawk already had good controls to avoid this mess and Tony Hawk 2 came in the same year. Why are the controls so bad? Did Dreamcast/Sega fans really had to endure this?

Shut up! (sick backflip) HA HA HA HA H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H- BITCH!
From the stuff I played (not released) in the year, in no particular order of goods and bads:
SpoilerDead Estate: Big booba witch. Her mom is also fine. Lydia is also very fine. BOSS is also great.
Big breasted woman aside, its a great roguelike, handicapped only by the fact that its fucking ISOMETRIC.
Gets as chaotic as Binding of Isaac, but the recent update crippled performance.
Yet, I still like playing it now and then and trying to unlock more stuff.
Warframe Whispers in the Walls: My go to game. The recent story update was nice and there was a moment that I will admit it affected me a bit.
Would be a perfect update if they added the pity system from the past 3 or 4 updates where you can get currency to get the new items without having to suffer through a 5% chance every 20 minutes.
Paper Planet: This one I played just before the year ended, but I was really surprised.
Its a little turret roguelike game with flash aesthetics, but plays really well and the soundtrack is kickass.
10/10 would crash my game by spawning too many bullets again
Unpacking: Cozy. Its a neat way to tell a story but I really didn't give a shit about the underlying themes.
Shoving your diploma under the bed is always the right move.
Last Call BBS: If you are looking to have an aneurysm, this is the game.
What, tutorials? Fuck you asshole, you don't get shit, now figure out how all these sorting/programing games work by yourself.
The games are very interesting, but you need an abnormal large brain to understand even the basics.
Some are easy to understand like not-Picross (although it requires some trial and error), but that food conveyor belt game with all the wires and the chip electricity game just left me confused.
The gunpla game is interesting, I wonder why no one bothered to make a good model builder game. (The existing one looks very bland, as expected of all "poopoo peepee simulator" games around)
Deep Rock Galactic: Didn't play that much this year. Just popped in for the events, edited my save to get the hats I missed and bailed. Barely no updates plus the next season being delayed so they will focus on the other two games means I might not even play this for a while.
Necesse: Its Terraria, but Rimworld. Basic, but I enjoyed it. Has potential.
Late game is a mess with all the RNG layers, but I eventually got there.
Early access, so might become better or worse.
Blasphemous: Very nice animations, good combat. My save file got corrupted 8 hours in and I had to restart because the backup system also failed.
Was fun for the most part. Some areas are too much of a pain in the cock and the game locking you out of quests and endings because you missed a room or killed a boss out of order was annoying.
Outer Worlds: Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh...... Mediocre. I honestly enjoyed Fallout 4 more than this.
Gameplay is simple, weapons are limited, skills are limited, characters are meh, plot is boring.
Core Keeper: I liked it for what it is, but then I reached a difficulty wall that I can't surpass. I learned that on past updates you had more ways to increase health, but then they just patched it out and new players got fucked.
I guess it is supposed to be played with a team, but ugh.
Leveling skills takes forever and walking around the map takes far too long.
Shotgun King: Very interesting gameplay, but FUCK this upgrade/downgrade system. You keep getting "upgrades" so lame that you are basically always getting two downgrades per level.
Its basically pure RNG rather than skill and strategy.
Borderlands 3: Better gameplay, more loot, faster leveling.
Would be the best game in the series if it wasn't for the GODDAMN CHARACTERS. Fuck every single character in this game. I fucking hate all of them.
Fuck the Twins. Fuck Lilith. Fuck Tannis. Fuck Ava. Fuck the writers. I hope this series never gets a sequel so we can be free of this atrocious character, humor and writing decay.
FUCK.
Yakuza 3: Liked it, but jesus christ this game needs a remake. Probably the weakest in the series, both story and gameplay.
Mine is a good character.
Yakuza 4: Now we are getting there. Akiyama best boy.
Story is far better, but the thing with the rubber bullets felt like a meme becoming reality.
Yakuza 5: Yeeee boi, now we are kicking ass.
Oh wait, the story is focused on Haruka again. UUUUUGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
Great gameplay, but I think the game got a bit too big for it's own good. There was no need for 5 different cities (some that are so small that basically just a few roads enclosed in invisible walls)
Introduces the worst character in the series, Park. I actually clapped when she got fucking murdered by her own dumbassery, and got a chuckle when everything she worked for and DIED amounted to NOTHING in the end of the game.
You blackmailed two people, ruined your marriage, crushed your ex-husband dreams, ruined your career for being a fucking dumbass and now want to pull the "oh she had a bad life, she just wants to be a good mom" card? FUCK YOU, I hope you agonized before dying.
Yakuza 6: A step down from 5. The new physics just don't work on a beat em up like this, combos keep getting canceled because you scrapped a wall, enemies block more attacks.
The change in the exp system from one exp to FIVE different kinds was just retarded.
Plot is ok. Same insanity that happens on most games, but this one felt a bit too far reached? Everything happened by coincidence, then mecha-godzilla shows up and immediately stops being relevant to the plot.
Then you beat the shit of not-Iwata and that it.
Not-Yakuza 7: A schizophrenic hobo and his found family reenact the events of Yakuza 1.
Ichiban is great. The change to a JRPG is... okay for the most part. Started to get a bit annoying by the end, when I just wanted to beat the shit out of people but had to wait my turn.
Hard to think this game from an April Fools joke.
Ending is shit.

My Twitch recommendations were mostly Dave The Diver on the first two months it was released.
Either way, Steam Awards were and always will be just a popularity contest. I hoped they would add something to balance the votes based on the number of initial nominations, but they never bothered.
That is why we got shit like Not-Fifa on GOTY, Gorilla Tag on VR, Red Dead/Dota/Rust on Labor of Love, Outlast/Harry Potter on Best Steam Deck, Starfield on Best Gameplay, Overwatch (lol) on Game You Suck, Last of Us on Soundtrack and some chinese dating game on Best Story

A game that didn't receive any updates for the last 3 years.
A game that is just Fallout 4 with less features, which already had less features than New Vegas, with most of the new gameplay copied from No Man's Sky.
Fuck off.

I think that the animated Disney movies that still hold up today are:
- Robin Hood
- Aladdin
- Goofy Movie
- Mulan, for the most part
- Emperor's New Groove
- Atlantis
- Lilo & Stitch
- Incredibles
- WALL-E
- Toy Story 2
I did enjoy others like Toy Story 1, Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, Monsters Inc., but these are not something I would sit to rewatch.
The Nightmare Before Christmas and Book of Life are also good, but these aren't Disney (yet)

Somehow I thought of the rain, which is a rare occurrence out here, but not that we have a swimming pool that would be a much faster way to clean off. Maybe I didn't want to get the water all bloody.
Or maybe that washing yourself with treated pool water would be just as bad.

Had a dream where I was walking around town (a weird, distorted and bigger version of my city) when one of the straps of my flip-flops snapped.
Luckily, I found one of my aunts and she gave me a ride to a nearby store. On the way, I saw this big store that was some sort of school for 3D Modeling/Printing.
I arrive at the store and look for a new flops, but I can't make my order on this ultra-technological machine because this tall guy keeps cutting the line and shoving me back. I get fed up and shove my elbow deep into his stomach.
I decide to look around the store, but the store gets robbed like 3 times, with the security always running off to catch the thief. There is a big fight between security and this long haired, shirtless guy wearing just a white shorts and white sneakers.
I leave the store and end up finding my grandma and Meatwad from ATHF. They start to speak about Jesus and I end up waking up because I was almost sure I was having a stroke at that point.

Decided to give BPM a try.
Holy fucking shit, why is this game so hard? The default difficulty is "Easy" but its still insane! There are two harder settings that I just dread having to play.
Rooms even at the first level sometimes have like 10 enemies so it gets hard to pay attention to everything at once, your health is extremely small (100 hp, but they could just say its 4 because each hit takes AT LEAST 25 hp), you have only 4 passive slots and they only accept one item kind.
Almost every room has a shrine to increase your stats, but they sometimes get replaced by chests or other less desired interactable stuff, so if that happens is one less stat up and you REALLY need them, specially range.
The furthest I got so far was level 6, mostly due luck because of items that regenerated health and lots of range ups, but BOTH TIMES I died because the game decided fun was over and made the level do double damage, then spawn a bunch of shield enemies and suicidal bombers. The suicidal ones deal 100 FUCKING DAMAGE, which is an instant kill if you didn't had luck with HP ups or anything that generate shields.
The shield guys sometimes died fast, sometimes they kept tanking damage for a whole minute, even if I kept shooting them in the head or the back. And you can't sidestep their attacks, oh no, you HAVE to dodge, and if you dodge a beat too late that is 50 damage for you, friendo.
Soundtrack is good. But I am starting to get annoyed because its rather repetitive.
