A 1970 Corvette

So I drop in some CSGO to meme with Wicket and I decide to use the ingame voice. It doesn't work. Oh well. Go to Mumble. Mumble doesn't work. Mumble worked last night. That's weird. My microphone seemed to be playing what my headset's speakers were playing. So, it was playing CSGO sounds, or when I went into Mumble, whenever I press my push to talk, it played the sound that tells me my voice engaged/disengaged (a little boop sound). I do the standard bit, check default devices, check drivers, uninstall the device and reinstall, check the official drivers/device manager, update the firmware, etc. None of that works. My mic doesn't pick up any sound when displayed in the "Recording" tab for sound devices. Absolutely no outside yelling is picked up and (since my input just plays the output when used in VOIP) when I put something loud, the bars are incredibly muted. Like, it takes something REALLY loud to even have one single bit come up (and of course only on internal sounds - my voice even when at the top of lungs wouldn't register). I've opened up Sound Recorder and then played some loud music (solely through my headset) and the sound recorder picked up the music at a very much lower volume. There was also a LOT of interference. You can hear some weird whirring noise and even crackling! Crazy shit, yo. What's weirder is that I CAN pick up sounds with a microphone if I reverse the headset and microphone jacks on the USB dongle. The microphone has horrible quality, but it still records. Wicket grabbed a file of me testing it over Mumble and my voice was able to be heard. I've set my speakers to "listen" to my microphone, and I'm getting a fairly standard high-pitched static noise (low in the background, but definitely there). Fiddling with the dongle doesn't seem to change anything about the static. I've not seen anything like this in any google search and I've been looking for the past few hours. The closest I got was a fix involving registry editing and permissions for groups that don't exist and I don't want to bother with that. I plugged my headset into my tablet running Win8.1RT and it installed and did everything and had similar symptoms to my computer, IE mic not working. I didn't test as thoroughly on my tablet but I assume it had all the same problems. My headset's a logitech G430. At this point I'm pretty sure just getting a replacement is a good idea. It seems to be a problem between hardware and software and I am not good enough to figure it out.

​Did you have the exact same problem as me? I tried that specifically and it didn't seem to do anything. I did it for both the headset and the microphone.

Wait, no, I just remembered that I still haven't watched GiTS. I'm going to do that. Mainly because it seems to have everything I want and also there's that one game coming out and I'm too autistic to play a game without knowing something about the universe it's in
