  1. Watched the new Dune movie. I really feel sorry for anyone watching it without reading the book because it leaves off on an area that would make someone who got engaged by the rest of the movie (without prior knowledge of the overall plot) jump up and say "What the fuck, now I have to wait forever to see the rest of this?!"

I liked a lot of the designs, it had a nice aesthetic to it that felt like it fit what I imagined in my head pretty well. There were a few things that were a little out there, but overall it looked great. I think they did a decent job of condensing things into a movie length, but you lose out on a lot of little details that the book had (but that's a given). Definitely interested in seeing the part 2 now, I came in expecting it to be mediocre so it was a pleasant surprise.

The real downside is that it made me want to read the book again and man that's a long read. But I guess it's not the worst thing to revisit since it's been a while.

  2. I kind of want a flip phone just because as a child they were so cool but by the time I was able to get a phone they had already fallen out of vogue

But I really don't wanna give up the big screen and I don't want a huge brick of a phone either

  3. I've just been using chinesium moto phones. They can play FGO and don't die too fast, though their screen is kinda fucky and at a weird aspect ratio that I think causes issues with certain apps I've tried.

Also they randomly drop reception and I won't get texts or calls until I send a text or make a call myself... Actually maybe I need a new phone too

  4. Really hoping the next trend rolls in soon.

Unfortunately I mainly watch shows in a specifically tiny bubble of the overall anime sphere so I am not equipped to really predict where things will go. Hopefully it's robot girls.

    Where did you go to?

Alaska. Part of it was with my brother (dog owner) part of it was at a family friend's vacation home.

Said vacation home I may have talked about in the past, it's seriously awesome. Riverfront property, plenty of rooms, awesome entertainment center, wi-fi, set in a beautiful area, the works. You know how in sitcoms or slice of life anime there's sometimes the rich character who conveniently has a vacation home whenever the writers want to switch up the location? It's almost literally like that.

The temperatures in Alaska were almost half that of Vegas's temperatures, which was fun. Sometimes they were exactly half

All I can remember from last night's dream is that at one point there was a family reunion at my place and one of my relatives was high out of her mind.  She then said she was going to do the ultimate drug: bees.  I thought she was joking but sure enough she took a big jar of bees out of her purse.  I managed to wrestle the jar away from her before she could open it, though this of course only pissed off the bees more, and to make things worse there wasn't a proper lid but only a piece of cardboard that had been tied to the jar and which the bees were bumping against.  I took the jar, ran to the door, threw it as far as I could, and then closed the door.  This worked in that no bees got into the house, but there was a loud buzzing sound for the entire remainder of the dream, and in the dream I just accepted that I couldn't go outside ever again.

I can't wait for the cyberpunk future where genetically modified bees with psychadelic stings run wild on suburban America

  7. Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song was pretty good. The last half definitely dropped, but the first half was really good. The show definitely seemed like it was designed to bait me, being an anime original sci-fi show with a light idol theme and a robot girl MC, but what can you do.

Nothing else in this season seemed worth finishing except Vivy and Mashiro no Oto. Well, probably Thunderbolt Fantasy, but I haven't caught up to that point yet. But I'm keeping the spirit of sunk cost seasonal anime watching alive, gosh darn it, even if nobody else will

  8. You know that video seems almost designed to throw out something weird every time a viewer is about to click away due to it looking generic

"Oh it's just a pokemon clo- Wait, they have a gun?"

"Oh it's got like weird crafting stuff? Whatever, that doesn't sound very interest- Wait why did that squirrel have a gun? Oh, she's using them as a living shield? What?"

    "Huh? Slave labor??? Redneck fishing?!"

All that would change is that we would have tutorials on how to create shortcuts to access it.

Honestly even setting up a batch script would filter a sizeable portion of people. I mean, not really enough, but still.

Unfortunately the march of progress dictates that interfaces get worse over time. Even using a forum like this is over five years out of date, and we complained even back when we moved past that old BBCode forum setup ages ago.

I've noticed that companies that keep oversimplifying their logos are the ones that will:

    - quickly jump into the monthly trend to profit over a group (pride month, black month, et.)

    - be related to a controversy like higher-ups being pedos or near slavery of workers

    - run by ancient fossils that will focus their market to be "hip" and "cool with them yongesters"

    - have a meme Twitter account

    - hiring graphic designers that only use 4 colors and kindergarten shapes

Honestly a lot of those are just what companies seem to be gravitating towards a lot nowadays.

Well they don't gravitate towards being pedos, but it's seemingly literally impossible for people in any kind of place of status, fame or power to not be pedos for some fuckin reason

Anyone else look back at themselves ten years ago and wonder how they got to today? Those days seemed much simpler and now life just is messy (at least for me) in all sorts of ways.

I kind of feel like the opposite (I feel like I'm a lot more together than I was as a dumbass teen) but I am still freeloading off my parents and going to college and that could immediately change when I go into the work force
