I was lucky enough to get a Back Scatter in a drop. Or not, since I think it's useless.

hugthebed/wicket on bigSPUF seems to play TF2 only to find silly exploits. He was the one who also found out how to crash servers with a spray, as well as how to targeturn even after they removed it (but before they removed it for real this time and added the Turner) How would someone find the time to do that in a normal game? He doesn't, I presume. Why would you not spend time on it when you could make money off of YouTube ads on your popular videos?

Steam raids your Wallet before going to the payment method you have registered with Steam. If you didn't have one registered it wouldn't let you complete the transaction, asking you to add a method or add credit to your Steam Wallet.

This is just going to devolve into pointless arguing. Both Gigolo and Rynjin have now descended into using ad hominems. If anyone would like to present factually supported arguments, you can PM me. Otherwise, this thread shall remain locked.

If the Demo is being outdamaged by a support class, I'd say that's very relevant.

Valve just doesn't have any respect for the scene. Would they pull this on Dota 2 or even CS:GO? No they wouldn't, because Dota and CS are designed with competitive play in mind, unlike TF2 which is the "silly, fun shooter". And I reiterate, they should rethink the TF2 meta to cope with the change. You know, figure out new strategies, rethink class limits and team sizes, maybe have HL actually ban weapons. and 6s allow more weapons for once. You know stuff like that. I don't think they should just put up their hands and go, "Welp, that's all folks!" Or alternatively, create server plugins to revert the change, which I'm betting they will do because fuck creativity. On an unrelated note, these taunts have made up for the tauntsliding fix by giving me something to do during setup, thanks Valve. You're completely missing the point. Yeah, sure, the competitive community can adapt, and it's going to have to. But they did this change IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INVITE SEASON. Since Dota doesn't have seasons, it's harder to make the analogy, but let's say that 6.81b was released right before the main event of The International as opposed to six weeks before. Are you really going to ask pro teams to adapt during the big event? Now, of course, in Dota you can avoid playing with/against some of the gameplay changes through bans and picks. It's still a huge change, but it's more manageable that way. In TF2, you have a similar thing, where you can ban weapons from use, and naturally, all of the new weapons have been banned until they are evaluated (and their gameplay bugs are fixed). A few seasons ago, we had the shenanigans with the Quick-Fix being too powerful in the 6v6 format, and admittedly, that was the poor decision of league admins to allow the heavily changed weapon instead of banning it, but it was in our control to let those problems happen. The problem with this change? There is NO way to avoid it. Teams that qualified for LAN and have been practicing for LAN are now going to be playing under completely different conditions at LAN. All this because Valve didn't feel like delaying their update for a bit.

Well, what the Demo nerf did was basically collapse 7 years of meta in one swoop. What the comp scene should do though? Make a new one. Again, Valve just doesn't have any respect for the scene. Would they pull this on Dota 2 or even CS:GO?

They fixed winbombing. They also broke the competitive meta irreparably in in the middle of one major online tournament and right before the NA LAN final. Why the fuck was this not already the case By default damage rampup/falloff is calculated based on player distance at time of damage taken. So they just fixed the most obvious issue with it.

Looks like our database server is having glitches. Could be something to do with the downtime earlier today.

My expectations were exceeded. Still not looking forward to everything breaking in a few days, though.

I'm not at all excited for this update.

I guarantee that at least one person will have gotten banned by the end of this year.

If you were a sphere I'd think about it. WOW TYPICAL CISGENDERED BLACK MALE SCUM ONLY LIKING SPERICAL GIRLS! #REAL WOMEN HAVE CORNERS! Cube is female now? When did this happen? -
That's a pretty low standard... after all, the people actually qualified to fix your problem are too busy making tons of dosh in real technical jobs.

Nobody runs anything different in Highlander, for what it's worth.

He got locked out again after I merged his accounts. Hopefully we can work out the recovery of that account.

I only just fixed my plugin getting broken because of the TF2 update. Thanks Valve.

Hey, you can hate on pyro, but get your damn facts straight before you do it.

The gliding is over the water, not the wall.

Uh... what's a soldier rocket jumping and using a Market Gardener doing? The Detonator is a source of explosive propulsion, which generally makes classes go faster than they can walk. The only debatable thing is whether the victim is "wet", but the game's coding probably just checks whether the player is in a body of water without regards to depth.
-
It's not an exploit... it operates off the same principle as water gliding, wherein previous velocity is maintained while jumping on top of a body of water. That's a known technique for rocket jumping.

I was thinking about dropping money on getting the game, but it feels so expensive. Given my restricted budget, is it worth it, and what package should I get?
-
Note that usually the promotional price is only for 12 months and when it expires it becomes much more expensive than you expect, and you're locked into a contract so you have to pay that price.
