  1. Had a 45 minute rant session about the new Risk of Rain 2 DLC with a friend and all the questionable things done in the update, with the most baffling thing of all being the lack of patch notes.

There's some good content there for sure but the current state of balance in the game is absolutely miserable. The release reminds me a lot of Afterbirth+'s initial release where they just added difficulty for no reason other than "I thought people liked hard stuff!". Literally the only stream of information about the update is in their dumb discord server which I aint gonna join.

  2. I'm still disappointed that after saying multiple times to not get an HP printer, that my mom got an HP printer.

The thing works 40% of the time, and doesn't even print in color anymore despite hours of troubleshooting. HP even clogs google search results and there's so many tiny model differences in number that it's literally impossible to find anything online regarding it.

  3. Question 1

    Spoiler

Gamecube is my G.O.A.T. as the only surviving console from my childhood and the only console I still occasionally pick up games for used. I've got a significant amount of games on it that I've dumped hundreds of hours into each - and some are even brought out to this day when friends come over (like Melee, Super Monkey Ball 2, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System). We had a Dreamcast growing up as kids before we tried cleaning it with Soap and Water. We DID clean it, but as you could guess it uh, died. The main games from that we got on Gamecube anyway (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2). its compactness and lineup of games makes it sick.

    Question 2

    Spoiler

Despite the Gamecube being my G.O.A.T., I think the generation that wins for me is the 7th because I've got two consoles from that era - the Wii and the PS3. This was the last generation where games had to be feature-complete on your disc, with on-disc DLC becoming a thing a bit late into the generation but not the norm. This was also before microtransactions really started taking off, so you'd generally only have to pay for map packs (who doesn't have 10 dollers?). The Wii has me covered for Singleplayer games mostly, and the PS3 has me covered for online games. This question is definitely gonna be the big nostalgia one.

    Scuffed Question 3

    Spoiler

I am having a little bit of trouble understanding everything, but if backwards compatibility is allowed I'd probably cheat and say to use my Wii U as my console of choice. It's got vWii which gives access to virtual console titles and Wii games, as well as potentially hacked-in gamecube game compatibility (but without a Wii to rip the .isos from, it'd be kinda worthless). Storage would definitely be an issue, but it's not the worst in the world.

There's no way I'd say the Switch, as I only really have a handful of games available for it anyway. If backwards compatibility was allowed, I'd probably say my gamecube could be the console I'd take to the end. It's got my biggest library (with the Wii trailing behind by a few games) and I could always take up speedrunning some of the games on there that I have like The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition, Sonic Mega Collection, or the Pikmin games.

The only reason why I'm confident that this was an independent discovery is that he doesn't talk about syringes.

he even ends on a similar joke of "tf2 is fine as long as people don't use the unpopular scottish resistance"

Also had the same text file

Did an audit on the amount of entities each map in tf2 has. Unsurprisingly, the maps with the most entities are the halloween maps mostly. The limit for a server is 2048 entities and the map with the most is pl_bloodwater (badwater event) with 1586 without any players connected. Each player, cosmetic, and weapon is an entity so each player at least will count for 7 entities.

1586+(24*7)=1754 entities used up by players alone. Any player with a cosmetic item in their use slot (like a spellbook or duck) will add yet another entity, and certain classes take up more entities (engineers and spies alone can take up an extra 10 each with buildings and disguises). 2048-1754 gives us 294 entities to work with in a perfect scenario. This is a halloween map, which means everyone will have a spellbook equipped (minus 24, 270 entities to work with). Any spell such as pumpkin bombs, skeletons, or monoculi will add entities, can assume 40 would be in use by these at max at any given time. so we only have 230 entities to work with.

This means on the map with the most entities, that if the entire server went engineer and had every cosmetic slot filled AND built all 4 buildings that the server would crash.

Want less coordination? 13 demoman (max cosmetics) laying out 14 stickybombs with the Scottish Resistance, and shooting 4 pills each at the same time is enough to crash the server on their own (without any soldiers launching rockets, or other projectiles existing on the map).

What's that? Want even LESS coordination? How about this? If you can get 6 medics (max cosmetics) to go to an area with a high ceiling (badwater event last) and look straight up and unload their entire syringe gun magazine into the sky, then the server would crash from just your guys' contributions alone. You can queue into casual servers with 6 people.

Basically, what I'm saying is, the fabric of tf2 universe relies on the syringe guns not being popular, since it's the most amount of entities any one player can make on their own (without exploits).

      Reveal hidden contents

Obviously this is an extreme, since it's the map with the most entities, but every payload map has at least 1000 - so in theory you could crash any Valve server in tf2 if enough medics coordinated and shot their syringe guns into the sky. Some maps it may not be possible to get out 40 (any map with a super low ceiling) and on other maps you may be able to get out even more than 40 (I was able to get out 80 syringes on custom map plr_highertower, and about 50 on pl_upward).

    what da heck

I've generally been a bad brusher and flosser my entire life with my teeth being carried by the fact that I only drank chocolate milk as a kid. I brush once a day at most, and floss like 8 times a year. I really want to get better with it, cuz I don't wanna fuck things up and lose my teeth forever at some point in my future, but it's hard to do it because I hate not being able to eat/drink for a like a half hour after you brush without making it pointless/having things taste bad.

Fortunately I've had the same good dentist my entire life. Recently (within the last year or so) one of the two assistant dentists left the business and they're still trialing out new dentists to try and take her place, so every time I go now there's a 50% chance I'll get someone I like, or someone I don't which kinda sucks. Regardless, because of that I was always confused as a kid when I heard people were afraid of the dentist because I've generally had positive experiences.

  7. Another year, another period of not playing any new games. I guess I can summarize what I DID do though.

Watched my cousin play through Hades, thought it was really enjoyable and it made me want to play the game, but I also felt like I got a lot of the experience being there watching him play. He didn't quiiiiite reach the true end I believe, but enough for my sister and I to get our fill watching.

Played Rogue Company (lol) for a few weeks as a "vibing" game with my cousin and I, and I swear I don't know if everyone who was good at aiming just didn't play that game or they just didn't have any PC players (game was cross platform)/good matchmaking. My cousin and I probably played about 150 matches of that game, and we were in the top 2 for kills in the game in like 90% of games. I'm not someone who generally says "wah wah wah my team sucks" but damn was it annoying for there to rarely be players who were our skill level.

Finished Heavensward in FFXIV, got to the level 69 quests in Stormblood, but the group has taken an unfortunate break from the game. My crusade of trying to avoid spoilers for the story advances ever so slowly. Still an enjoyable experience, even if on the tin it looks like they absolutely demolished every fun thing about my favorite class: the Astrologian.

Had a little fun with a Battlerite inhouse resurgence with some buddies for a week, that was one of the more fun times this year because I was able to play with people I haven't played games with in a long time. It's about the only top-down game I can tolerate.

Played a fuckton of TF2 and SMITE. I've been on a crusade to try and use all the weapons I haven't given a fair shot in TF2, but lately I've been addicted to playing Classic Sniper. It's so fun and has a lot of perks that make it stand out from the rest of the snipers, and everyone dismissing it as a joke weapon piss me off. My sister who got into smite about 14 months ago is finally starting to be a tolerable teammate in terms of not throwing in 80% of games, but I can't say that about another friend for another game...

Practically quit Apex Legends. After one third of my Apex Party quit in January of last year, the remaining two of us continued to play for about 10 months afterward, but I just can't take it anymore. Not playing with a full stack really fuckin' ruins the fun of competitive team games for me a lot of the time.

Played a little bit of Halo: Infinite but audio bugs relating to the game and my headset have made me play it very sparingly. Not being able to hear things behind you really sucks. I also lack Halo nostalgia, so that doesn't draw me in either. Still play it occasionally.

Bought my one game of the year after my cousin insisted I purchase GTFO this last Christmas. We haven't done a lot, but we've only completed 2 missions so far in our group of 4. I wish we could get through the missions quicker, because each one is super draining and losing 2 hours in isn't fun at all :).

I think I got 800 hours out of TF2 this year, so it surprisingly has to be the best game of my year. Still a huge shame that bots have utterly demolished casual, but community servers have been fun like Raz said.

Looking forward to the Risk of Rain 2 DLC later this year - the final boss for that game currently is super unfun and underwhelming for me to finish my runs with.
