    "IAMA North Korean Defector"

This. I hate to be militaristic or sound war-mongering, but we should've cracked down on them before they had a chance to develop long-range missiles.

  6. Yes. jk That was more of a social thing. I was referring to the idea of a basic absolute moral foundation with clear standard for right and wrong. Without absolutes, you can't have a trustworthy, stable foundation for morality or moral laws.
  7. Sure, the world has. People haven't. I'm defending their ideals because they're right, so far as I can tell. You'll notice the constitution is, at its core, about roadblocks to power. The founders knew that power corrupts, so they limited it. All I'm saying is that that's a good idea. "Everything"? No, just the thing mentioned in the title: at least in america, most mass media is liberal. Therefore, conservatives are frowned upon by people unable to think for themselves - and please, don't try to tell me that's not a common thing in America.
  8. Yeah, kinda am. Back on topic after this post. Not did, set up. They created a system that's been highly successful for more than a century - maybe we should follow their ideas. ------------------------------------- But seriously, the reason is sheep + media. Some lucky ducky managed to get a bunch of sheep to follow his media-spread opinions blindly. Some sheep spread the liberal viewpoint more, gathering more sheep. Could've happened with conservatives, they just didn't hit critical mass first.
  9. Well, think about it. The idea was the slow things down (thereby preventing rushed or thoughtless decisions - at least some of the time) and limit power from going to one man. With executive orders and various other things, it's all speeding up and a lot of power is going to Obama. Maybe it's not too bad - he's not a bad person, relatively speaking, but it sets a very, very bad precedent. Some guy might come along and get elected and next thing you know we've executive ordered ourselves into chaos and ruin. Why? Because roadblocks designed to prevent such thing - congress - will be bypassed.

  13. Secret police and the Inquisition say hi. Founders trying to prevent things like that says hi.
  14. Sorta yes, sorta no. Many of the Ten Commandments are kinda common sense shit any country will come up with on their own if they don't want to descend into anarchy. "Don't steal", "Don't kill people", "Don't fuck that guy's wife". You'll notice what the Constitution DOESN'T include, however, are all the other bits. Like "Bitch don't be steppin' out on other gods" or "It's illegal to be jealous of other people". Granted. But frsrs: how can you enforce either of those? The founders were humans and had realistic ideas about what humans would do.

  16. We as a country, are very good at being stupid. And, judging by Americas relatively rapid rise to prominence, rather effective in our stupidity. But they make up for it with a blind refusal to see, y'know, the world around them. That's why Obama's sanctions are so effective against Putin. But frsrs Yes, there's some bigotry on the side of Republicans. It's also there on the side of the Liberals. Same with ignorance. The only difference is what they tend to be bigoted against/ignorant about. @Huff: Yes, that's also true. Nonetheless, it was basically unanimous that Christian (that is to say, new testament) virtues were the best foundation for an ethical system of laws.
  17. *grabs a bucket of popcorn* Funnily enough, America was founded on Christian morals, and even the atheistic founders agreed that that was the best way to go about things. *sits back*
