I'd go for different RAM, something with Samsung B-die so it would cooperate better with Ryzens, not certain if they fixed compatiblity issues on other memory. And different case, something with more airflow, but that's me. RAM prices are also super high now, since SK Hynix is only memory manufacturer that doesn't have problems. Micron and Samsung are fucking around with smaller manufacturing processes, and whatever is left on the market, is gobbled up by phone manufacturers.

I'm still on fx6300, which is not entirely terrible, but the motherboard is housefire tier, north bridge and south bridge go above 70 C WITH stock amd cpu fan pointed at north bridge.

I'd just with just R5 1600, motherboard of your choice and a set of fast DDR4 RAM for now. R9 390 is still no slouch, and you will see big improvement anyway, since you will no longer be bottlenecked by CPU.
