It was pretty much the same as Brotherhood until for about a quarter to a third of the way through, maybe? After that it caught up to the manga at which point they just made shit up and the plot went completely bananas. You aren't missing much if you've only seen the second one IMO, even though certain things in the original series (especially the music) were executed a little better.

Yeah, I bring the GL40 on day 2 as well. It's an excellent weapon for HM although I still have some trouble hitting snipers from long range with it. I'm also playing with the idea of using a Reinfeld modded for HE rounds or slugs because of its decent ammo to damage ratio (and the fact the I like the 880 and want to use it for something) but I haven't brought it to anything major yet. I'm guessing it'll just be outclassed by the GL or the R93 which is my other go to weapon.

And admittedly, this is the part where I fucked up. I ran down in between waves to find the hostage by myself. Huge mistake. I get lost. When I finally get close to the hostage I suddenly see both guys on the top floor go down. I think they both got nabbed by snipers. So now I'm running back up, I get lost again, they both go into custody as I get to the top floor. I go back downstairs again in a bit of a panic since I'm the last guy standing in the middle of the next wave and I'm shooting and stumbling around this fucking maze of an apartment trying to get to the ground floor. Finally I get down there and the hostage is across the goddamn courtyard. Someone literally tied this fucker up in the second room we were in. I have no long range weapons so I have to just run through the courtyard getting shot at by snipers both ways to do this hostage trade. And of course, the guy I trade in for is this low level player who fucked up by tying the hostage down there in the first place. We end up going back upstairs and taking a hostage each. He's on the opposite "wing" of the floor. Another wave starts. We decide to just camp on the hostages we've taken and ride out the assault so we can get the other players back in ASAP. For a couple of seconds he attempts to lead his hostage over to my position so we can be close by. I don't know what the fuck happened over there but according to the guys spectating the guy just says "fuck it", executes his hostage for no reason and then almost immediately after goes down. He disconnects before I can get to him. Luckily another guy joined shortly after and I traded my hostage in so we had three. He had Dominator, so we got the fourth guy too. It seemed like we were doing that heist for ages. People were just going down constantly. I think every single one of us went into custody at least once. I haven't played HM too many times but I racked up 190 kills in the time we were there which seems like a lot for that job. It was kind of a nightmare.

People who take hostages on the bottom floor of Hotline Miami Day 2 deserve to be eaten alive by bears.

Yeah I just don't even bother using HoxHud. Only reason I've considered getting it is for toggle interact and I'm pretty sure I can just do that with scripts anyway.

I fell asleep to the Halo 2 soundtrack and I napped like a fucking rock for like two hours. It was incredible.

I haven't read through the lore in a while but IIRC the clone theory is still viable - the idea that respawning and duplicates are the result of some kind of cloning machine working off of the original mercs as a template. If that's true then it kind of makes sense for the Engineer to be on BLU. Eight mercenaries were hired to form the RED team and Dell was assigned to BLU, most likely given the task to create the cloning machine himself. RED made up of the original Scout, Soidier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Medic, Sniper and Spy, whatever duplicates they had of themselves, and whatever RED duplicates they had of the Engineer. BLU was just Dell with an army of duplicates from the other side. During the events of Shadow Boxing the mercs still had access to the cloning/respawn facilities. At this point in the comics they no longer do, and I'm guessing most of the clones have been killed or "decommissioned" by someone. It's also possible that given their extremely violent professions and the way they were all basically cannon fodder, the clones were never meant to last. It's been six months. Maybe the last surviving clones had all their organs shut down or dissolved or something, leaving only the current roster of originals. Or the RED Engineer just put on a different shirt. Who the fuck knows with this game.

I wasn't playing last Halloween and until browsing masks on the wiki I had no idea the Brazil Baby mask was a thing. Brazil is one of my all time favorite films. Really hoping it'll be available again this year.

I think it's in the realm of possibility that we'll get a PC version, but not for quite a while, if ever.

If it were coming to PC I would in a heartbeat.
