I just noticed something. When you click on an item in your BP a list of actions that you can do for that item, instead of the buttons below lighting up. It's pretty neat.

Ah, ok, good. At least there's still something to look forward too.

The only stuff of value that came out of this update is the SFM video, the taunt, and the new unusual effects. The ducks would be on that list, but since you have to pay to play that, no thanks. Also related: So was the whole "competitive matchmaking thing" that was supposedly going with the rumored Engyvs.Spy war actually turned out to be just for the duck thing? If so, all is lost.

Steam Beta just updated. Streamers can now mute viewers, finally. I would like to have a little bit more such as being able to just outright ban viewers from watching and hire chat moderators, but this is technically all we need, and is a very good start, so I'm not complaining in the least.

Some people, particularly the mainstream media, are still stuck in the mindset that gaming and e-sports are for the outcasts of society like nerds and geeks, and that "gamer culture" is too niche for mainstream society, even though gaming as a whole is growing more and more in the casual mainstream audience with 10s of millions of players playing online games and such. As soon as that stereotype is vanquished in the media's eyes, then competitive e-sport gaming will be taken seriously and given the spotlight it deserves.

I just set my privacy to where friends can watch me anytime I'm streaming so y'all can view me whenever I'm playing. I might even go public if Valve implements adequate moderation tools to keep the chat in check from trolls and phishers. Also there's discussion going on whether streaming from the client can lead to screen-hacking by forcefully hacking the client, especially with the whole "view your desktop" thing. Is this dude just being paranoid or do you guys think it could be a major concern?

In multiplayer games, having too high of a bit rate while playing can give you horrible ping. I initially was streaming at 2500 max, but I was lagging all the way to 600-700 on a west coast server. As soon as I stopped streaming, ping was stable again. If you're lagging a lot, try lowering your bit rate, I lowered mine to 1000 now everything is back to normal.

I've set my broadcasting privacy to 'Friends can watch my games'. So any of you on my friend's list can watch and yell at me for being bad at video games without having to wait for permission to watch and yell at me being bad at video games. So feel free to pop in anytime I'm playing something and watch me be bad at video games.

They probably know it'll be abused to hell, but they also know that if it's public, it's right there on the game hub and it'll get reported. Private streams with friends are another story since no one will report it, but at least it won't be as bad as it could be.

And just like that, Twitch becomes obsolete for Steam users. Then again, streamers, can't moderate the chat, or hire moderators for their chat, unlike Twitch. But once that is implemented, then I forsee Twitch being dropped for convenience with Steam.
