http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow2pvuJOnE8 I'm lame and lazy, so here's a luck airshot I got today which took me 15 minutes to record and 2 GB of hard drive space despite being only ~15 seconds long. Hopefully it'll upload before I'm awake.

You made the horrible mistake of telling us what not to do.
We will do it now that you've told us not to.

Likely what happened was the server's time got messed up after an unexpected reboot this morning, and time didn't get synchronized until later.
-
I don't see any issues on my end...

Basically this was how the old forum was... when you "deleted" something, it was merely hidden from view and was still viewable by mods. Hidden posts here work the same way. If we find a hidden post while browsing we'll just delete it.
-
I changed it. Members should be able to hide their own posts but NOT delete anymore. That was the intention.

New Humble Weekly Sale with Cities XL Platinum, Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition, Divinity II: Developer’s Cut, R.A.W. Realms of Ancient War, Confrontation, and Game of Thrones. European Escalation and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes for $6. It's tempting, but then again if I wanted to start buying Weekly Sales again I should have started with the last one.

Please use the following template to do so: [NOPARSE]Name: Position: Known for: Links: [/NOPARSE] Please do NOT post more than once in this thread - instead, edit your post as needed. You're free to do anything you want in your intro post as long as it follows the template above, isn't very much false, and the links are personal links for you and not about anything else.[/spoiler2]

So, as I hinted, we're now opening up the ability for normal users to have titles (proposed by binary, executed by me). Rules: [*]You must be eligible for the normal title "Tyrone" (i.e. have 500 posts), OR be eligible for the reputation rank "Mildly Menacing" (i.e. have 150 rep), OR have a join date greater than 6 months ago. [*]Titles are not allowed to have any color, icons, formatting, etc. [*]Titles must adhere to forum rules and may not be offensive, misleading, etc. [*]You may not change your title too frequently. [*]Titles must be preapproved here before being added, and may be modified or revoked at any time if necessary by the mods. If you're requesting a special title (for a good reason like the subSPUF Awards, which gets fancy colors and icons and formatting), you'll have to talk to me some other way. This is ONLY for titles through the Custom Title Initiative. Current titles: [*]l'interguy - Local Black Guy [*]alexgndl - The Plant Whisperer [*]Rynjin - Opium Peddler [*]ConfusedCactus - binary's Neck Fat [*]DCP_16 - Artistical Baghead [*]Teddster - The Pigmaster [*]Comeau - Bird Hitler's The Word [*]thebattywhoeatsbattersons - Senior Vegetable Consumer [*]Expresate - subSPUF Titled This For Me [*]ScampSixteen - Resident Jukebox [*]The Irish Demopan - Choo Choo [*]Kayohgee - Archduke of Pootislovakia [*]Napkin Dust - Hermaphroditic Bear [*]Gold Standard - Shiny [*]2500x1600@120hz - Goooone [*]Just a Gigolo - pinkiegasm [*]DualJay - Scribe [*]Cell - RNGenie [*]Splosion - Captain Cockblock [*]Raison d'être - Insignificant Layman [*]Jordax - Jackal [*]LadyBernkastel - Witch of Androgyny [*]A 1970 Corvette - Maid of Androgyny [*]Stackbabbin' Bumscags - Token Gay Guy [*]Verumae - Swagmaster General [*]DrEvilBrain - I Want To Get Off Mr. Bone's Wild Ride [*]Huff - Hoppy Frood [*]Simon - The GIF Linker [*]Buddhazilla - SPUFserver Dominator

That is probably it. I'll check for sure and make any necessary adjustments.
-
Wait, that's not working? ... I didn't change the permissions for that IIRC.

Well, the Dota guys decide they're cool enough to have a 1v1 tournament, and I figure that we should probably have one too, so let's do it. Rules: [*]Matches preferably held on the SPUFserver, but upon agreement of both players can be held in any server running mge_training_v8_beta4a in a non-KOTH, non-4-player arena. [*]Matches are best of 3 games. Players alternate in picking arena for each game with higher seed picking the first game. [*]As always, first to twenty kills wins one game. [*]Each player gets up to 1 unilateral ban in a game. Scout, soldier, pyro, demo cannot be banned unless both people agree to ban it (and it won't count against unilateral bans). Medic, sniper, and spy can be banned unilaterally by 1 player. Heavy and engineer are automatically banned unless both people agree not to ban them. [*]There are no weapons banned on the server. You should agree not to use certain weapons with your opponent in a gentlemen's agreement. [*]This is up to a 16-player double elimination player. The first 12 people were seeded by Steam playtime, and any players wishing to join before the first round is over will be added in the order of their join. [*]Some prizes from me. http://challonge.com/spufpoweredmgetournament Who's interested? I figure with Labor Day, we might have a great change to set a day and get most of it done as well, but that means signups would have to be quick.

In order to encourage donations that help keep this forum as well as a variety of services alive, we offer certain benefits to people who donate. Current donation privileges include: expanded limits on the forum like avatar size, PM inbox capacity, etc.special colored title + rank imageaccess to a donator forumability to change username infrequently Donation privileges operate on a subscription model where every $2.50 donated toward the forum earns one month of donation privileges. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about donation privileges, you may address them below.

The Government was shut down...
tsc replied to Mersopolis's topic in Current Events, News & Politics
My biggest beef with the Republicans is that they're trying to negotiate Obamacare by threatening a government shutdown and debt default, even though it's not at all going to be affected by either. Remember the last time we did that, our credit rating got downgraded? Yeah, let's not try scorched earth tactics again. -

This. If it weren't WTA, we'd probably be in much better shape as a country with politicians actually having to compromise to get things done. -

It's called "Republicans-hate-Obamacare". -
That makes sense. In probably oversimplified terms, it doesn't recognize your static IP because it didn't give you the static IP. Unfortunately, that means you can't guarantee yourself a static IP, and that pretty much kills the point of having a TF2 server because your IP will change.

Raison opts to forfeit since he keeps forgetting to do his match. That opens up a few more matches in the tourney to do.

Do you have forwarding set up and your ports open?

It's... not that simple. The problem with having a dice tag is that the content should not change every refresh, which sorta is the way that BBcode is designed. It may be possible to make a bot that reads the dice codes and posts the results, but that's a major project (considering my unfamiliarity with IPB), which I don't quite have the time to do right now.

Alright, here's my rationale behind a periodic as opposed to one-time donation: the ongoing costs of running the forum are much more significant than the initial costs. That's not something I can easily pocket myself - neither I nor any of the other forum staff as far as I'm aware have any form of stable income with which we can fund the forum. While any form of donations are great - don't get me wrong - the simple truth is that encouraging people to donate once and forget about it flies in the face of the fact that I cannot possibly pay the costs once and forget about them. I don't want donating to seem like a paid product, and it shouldn't. The incentives are admittedly not that great, and I would prefer that people donate because it helps keeps the lights running. The benefits should only be icing on the cake. In addition, I don't want to have to run drives for funding every time it comes to pay a bill - I don't like it, and would prefer to set the benefits down and keep the option up for all time. As for the costs - yes, I am probably going to decrease the monthly cost down to $2.50 per month from $5.00 - I think $2.50 is a reasonable amount to donate. I don't foresee ever having permanent donation benefits due to the reasons I just articulated. I am intrigued by the word filters idea, but given the recent outcry that we had over our last word filters I am not inclined to ever revisit the issue ever again. As for the claim that it's being exclusive rather than additive, it's a matter of perspective. Limits definitely lean toward additive since they're just adjusting what's already available. Profile customization and name changes - they aren't essential for participating, and I don't see a reason why they would be to the point where they need to be made free. The donator forum is probably the most controversial aspect of it, and while I do get that you guys fear that it will split the community, I don't buy it. Some changes are happening with it, but I don't think I'm going to remove it unless they're some good argument for not having it.

I was told it was a home PC.
