Holy fuck have developers not realized this is literally the last thing you want to do? http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/05/19/wildstar-developer-says-it-wants-to-do-wow-right-this-time/
If you're going to make an MMO consider that you have to compete with WoW, but then don't try and do what it did. WoW has stopped doing things because they just don't suit players anymore. EG: 40 man raids. I like the idea of 40 people all working together, but from what I heard WoW wasn't like that, moreso "holy shit we actually managed to get 40 people together we can actually do the content". WoW doesn't do 40 man raids because people want instant gratification now, not having to collect people together, making sure they have pre BiS items and attunement.
The same goes for PVP, WoW does PVP matchmaking with 25 people and that's enough of an unorganized clusterfuck already, Carbine can either A. Do 40v40 matchmaking and have it just become a deathmatch like WoW or B. Make people organize it themselves and then have players realize it's easier to do smaller PVP battles, since getting 40 people together in a modern MMO is nigh impossible nowadays.
I really wanted WildStar to do well, I didn't want it to kill WoW since I enjoy the game too much but even making it's podium shake just a little would have done wonders for the MMO industry. All evidence so far shows that when you try to kill WoW, you just kill your game. But worse when you try to copy WoW you just end up leading people back to it since it invariably does what you're trying to do better, and you make their confidence in other MMOs dwindle.
