    Quiz: Political Parties

Saw the Democrats coming, but didn't think I leaned that much towards the Greens. That was interesting.

Those're fightin' words around here, son. No but actually though Rakdos > Golgari > Orzhov > Everybody else > Selesnya (only because Emmara Tandris exists). I'm a Rakdos fanboy and proud.

Melek's one of the few commanders (along with Narset, actually) who could actually be used in a completely creatureless deck. I mean, it's best to run at least a FEW, but it's definitely doable with him.

    Star Wars Thread

Yeah, I want to say they touched on this in the Republic/Imperial Commando series? Basically the master set of DNA from Jango Fett deteriorated over time (and there may or may not have been some sabotage involved) so as the clones started hitting the end of their hyper-shortened lifespans, the Empire needed to start conscripting actual soldiers, as well as cloning from other, non-Jango sources. Basically the average lifespan of a clone was something like 25-35 years, but the rate of development exponentially grew towards the end of the clone's life. So basically old age took a clone in a year or two, instead of a few decades. This was something they were trying to circumvent when Imperial Commando (the book series) got axed. It's heavily implied (if not outright stated) that they had some degree of success, as Jaing Skirata, an ARC trooper, survives to 40 ABY and shows up in the Legacy of the Force series.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Heh. It begins...my friends and I started playing EDH last year, we each made one deck to play with from time to time. That was the plan, at least. Now I'm the only person in my group who even has a complete 60-card deck, and everybody has at the very least 3 complete EDH decks ready to go, with someone usually trying out a new proxied one every time we play. In my opinion, it's a LOT more fun than regular Magic-the games are more in-depth, and the sheer amount of cards available to play with (literally ALL of them, with the exception of like...20) means you're never ever ever going to make the same deck as your friend. It brings out the creativity in some, the asshole in others, and when you really start playing you'll realize just how balls to the wall insane this format is. Good luck, and welcome to Commander. You're gonna be here a long time.
  10. My bedroom's about 20 degrees cooler than the rest of my house. This is a good thing.

Dude, TCW Grievous literally made my little brother cry when we first saw that episode. Movie Grievous was a letdown for us all.

I'm so onboard with the whole Jar Jar hate thing. One last question-is TCW Grievous closer to the other cartoon version (aka the biggest fucking badass around) or the pussy movie version who spends literally the whole movie running away until Obi-Wan "suddenly I'm actually a good fighter, who knew?" Kenobi guns him down and then complains that he didn't do it sportingly enough?

OK, so I stopped watching after season 2. Be honest with me here, is it on the same level as the 2003 series? Because that's the standard I hold all the prequel materials to, and tbh nothing else really stacks up with it.

Aww, TCW got canceled? I enjoyed it during the first few seasons.

    Doctor Who

See, the thing about Moffat's writing is that he always tries to be super clever with it, and rarely succeeds. The Wedding of River Song is a perfect example of this. The "twist" about what was happening on the moon was pretty obvious. The Doctor's reaction? Not so much. I saw lots of parallels between this episode and Waters of Mars (one of my favorites) here, and I liked that. Fun fact-this has actually been mentioned before. In the very final scene of The Big Bang, when they're all on the TARDIS, 11 gets a phone call from someone and talks about "An Egyptian goddess on the Orient Express...in space" before they take off. Sounds like they're finally going back to that, or something similar.

    Doctor Who

Kill the Moon was incredible. Capaldi's really starting to edge out Tennant as my favorite doctor, something I NEVER thought I'd say.

Just had an amazing game of EDH with my Erebos deck. I had Underworld Dreams out (whenever an opponent draws a card, they lose 1 life) and managed to drop two opponents simultaneously to 1 life each, so they died on their draw steps. Then afterwards, with a full Bloodchief Ascension out, I played Life's Finale to kill the other two guys. I was on fucking fire today. I've missed playing with Erebos, he's such an asshole in EDH and nobody in my group can do shit about it.
  21. Did anyone buy Alien:Isolation? Reviews have been all over the place and I'm interested to see just how good it actually was.

you fucking idiot they're not moving images they're a series of images quickly transitioning from one image to the next very quickly, it's really what makes it game of the century.

  22. It was initially a joke, but when everyone became convinced, it was painful to watch. There are some benefits to the fact that you did take it seriously, though, in valuable feedback on forum systems for the future and in other things that we learned. Are you even serious right now? Half the forum's calling you out, people are calling for you to step down, and you're acting like this is just some data that you were able to collect? I'm sorry, but I have serious reservations about letting someone run this forum who just admitted to saying that he deliberately took something went too far, but golly gee I learned some interesting things about people today because of it, everyone! Frankly, it's mildly disturbing. Nowhere did I say it was justified by that, and nowhere should I be taken to say that what happened was acceptable because of the slight benefits accrued. But then why didn't you stop it once you realized that shit was hitting the fan and stuff was spiraling out of control? To say that you know that stuff was getting bad but then doing nothing to curtail it implies that you had some sort of other motive to let the thing continue.
