This pretty much is the most popular use for cryptos. Now, I hold 20k something Dogecoins and I jumped on it at the start because it was a funny joke pointing fun at the countless altcoins (alternatives cryptos to Bitcoin). It managed to become a thing and it's currently one of the most common altcoins, but even then, nothing holds up against Bitcoin in popularity and exchange.
Its a cool concept and all, and I did have fun dabbling into mining and such, but overall, it's petty and next to worthless at this moment. Maybe Bitcoins will remain as an alternative to actual currencies for online shops, but I can't see it going too far from that, even with physical wallets or mobile ones or whatnot. There's "physical" Bitcoins and such, but those are merely QR codes that you can scan to make a transaction from one wallet to the other.
