The Thread that Makes you go Hmmm

Depends on the game. For those focused on constant multiplayer quickmatches, no. For those with more single player elements, probably.
  2. I have to learn Polish so that I can stay up to date with the Heroes 3 modding community.

At least the mods'll be quite polished.

And I thought that was russians that were still pushing HoMM 3.

Whatever, post whatever you need and I will help you out as long as it actually is polish.

That's what I thought too.  If I recall correctly Wake of Gods was made by Russians, and the actual Heroes V + were made by Russians, as were the new King's Bounty games.

But recently on a whim I started looking around to see if mods had progressed and found that there were a whole hell of a lot of them, and that like 75% of the discussion is in Polish.  (10% is still in Russian, 10% in English and the remaining 5% is a mixture of other Eastern European languages).

Marty McFly is the Soulreaver of the Back to the Future universe. You can't actually change history unless he travels through time.

    Non-Magic CCGs

I think I had my worst game of Shadowverse ever. Playing a Tenko's shrine combo deck. Needless to say there's a lot of card draw in there to get to Tenko's shrine and I have three of them because the deck can only do about half of what it is capable of without a shrine. Somehow I get down to 6 cards without drawing a single shrine. This means that literally half the cards in my deck were now Tenko's shrines. Nevertheless I'm able to get my opponent's life down, despite him playing a dragoncraft deck that's gaining an absurd amount of life. Totaling it up I believe that he gained 23 life throughout the match (three dragon's nests, four sibyl triggers and one lindworm trigger). But I still manage to get him down to 2 life on his turn, and I even have an amulet that will summon a storm bird for me to do the remaining 2.... but I only have one slot left on my board so when I play it it immediately gets exiled. And then next turn he kills me.

I kind of want to see a Girls und Panzer/Kemono Friends crossover. Would be called "Freundinnen und Panzer."

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 apparently still has active multiplayer servers. Who would have thought.

Looks like Gamersgate now has better quality control than Steam. That's saying quite a lot.

    Non-Magic CCGs

It's amazing how many times a 13/13 for 5 is a dead card.
  10. IT does forced update to windows 10. This breaks some of their software, causing problems using the network. I ask for help, get directed to a start guide page. The startup page has different instructions for different versions of windows. The most recent instructions are for Windows XP. There is a note below saying that they have recently stopped supporting Windows 95. Somehow I don't think that these instructions are going to work.

By the way, if you like Guardians of the Galaxy, watch Farscape.

    TIAM: Entertainment Stuff

Guardians of the Galaxy feels like it's set in an actual (if goofy) universe. In particular, we get the feeling that there is a lot going on in the universe beyond what we are seeing and that even the characters that we are familiar with still do things when we aren't watching them. Doctor Strange feels like it's set in a series of set pieces designed to show us cool super hero stuff. It's hard to imagine any part of it continuing on when the cameras stop rolling.

Is it more or less convenient than playing with a flight stick?

I need D4 season 2 to come out. Just so that I can confirm that the really obvious plot twist is actually the really obvious plot twist.

For some reason Youtube is recommending nothing but Spy videos. And when I say "spy videos" I mean stuff like this:

    ITT Post Virtual Youtubers

Was going to make a list of which virtual youtuber is most similar to which spuffer, got to about 6 people and then realized that I don't know who the hell most of you people are.

    Anime General Discussion

Caught wind of Mamoru Hosoda's new film. I get the impression that this movie may have been created by shredding all the scripts of his previous movies and then randomly pasting them together again.
  18. But if it wasn't on the news, how do you know? Unless.... it was your storage locker?

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

I mean investment in terms of the time necessary to develop a collection, keep up with new rules, etc. There are far more people willing to get into one or two games of a new board game than there are people willing to start a new CCG.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Playing deckbuilding games is a good way to get the feel of CCGs without needing the long-term investment which chases away the vast majority of people (even board game nerds). Dominion is the default entry to the genre. I prefer Rune Age and Eminent Domain. Thunderstone is also fun but mainly in a Talisman sort of way (i.e., that the game lends itself to highly degenerate situations).
