    Doctor Who

Nah. Here's what I think is gonna happen- [spoiler2]Smith and Clara go to Trenzalore. Unknown to them, this is actually where Gallifrey's hidden. Shit goes down, the Silence come back, and Smith sacrifices himself in an attempt to both stop the Silence (who have known all along that Galifrey's really just hiding and have been trying their damndest to stop it) and bring back his homeworld. Enter Capaldi. A newly-regenerated Capaldi and Clara go to the returned Gallifrey, expecting to be lauded as heroes. Instead, they're arrested. Seems that the new President of the High Council of Time Lords has had enough of his shenanigans. As they're about to be put on trial, the President himself comes to greet them. He's the only High Council survivor of the Time War, the rest of them having been murdered brutally by what seemed like lightning only moments before Gallifrey was blinked out of the universe. However, nobody knows who it is-he's got a face nobody's seen before. Not even the assembled Time Lords really know who he is, just that he came out of the High Council's chambers wearing the President's clothes, and holding his tokens of power. As Capaldi looks at the man, realization begins to dawn on him. He knows this guy. We ALL know this guy. Just as the audience begins to wonder "Wait. No. No way." the man grins, Capaldi's face drains of all color, and the new President of the Time Lords begins to tap a beat on the table. A rhythm of four. The heartbeat of a Time Lord.[/spoiler2] Also, I just wanted to say how impressed I was-I wasn't able to watch it on TV yesterday, so I watched it live on BBC's Iplayer. I'm betting that millions of people in the UK tuned in online, and the broadcast didn't so much as stutter. Bravo BBC, thanks for doing livestreaming right. It was absolutely brilliant.

So how's everyone feeling about the 50th special? (Don't forget to spoiler tag)
  3. Huh. Seems I got into the Planetary Annihilation beta. It's not TESO, but I'll take it.

    Game Grumps

Ok, the Skyrim playthrough is VERY quickly becoming my favorite series ever done on the Grumps channel. This is absolutely hysterical.
  5. I've had really good results with Avast-it's completely free, too.

What do you guys think of the Gunslinger?

I'm going to go out on a limb here with what will probably be an unpopular opinion and say that in a perfect situation...yes, it is in fact balanced. Seeing as the name of the game is TEAM Fortress, something that forces some classes (Scout and Pyro) to work in tandem with others (Demo, Soldier, etc) in order to take it down. Is it spammy and not really skill-based? Sure. But I feel that it's still balanced, as it actually can encourage teamwork in the other team. Of course, in 98% of the games you'll get the pants-on-head people who can't get it through their heads that they're supposed to work together with other people and thus get annihilated by it. In this case, it's not balanced. But yeah, with a good team that actually works together well, I feel that it's fairly balanced.

    Game Grumps

I stand corrected. Wasn't expecting him to skip literally half the main quest...

    Game Grumps

I went into the Skyrim video really, REALLY apprehensively, but goddamn if I didn't start grinning like an idiot as soon as Ross glitched through the wall with the bowl. I'm betting they next go to the secret chest underneath the Skyforge, or whatever the hell it's called.

    Game Grumps

See, I never actually played wind waker, so all this is new to me. It's OK with me if they take their time.

  11. If I ever have kids, I'm showing them Star Wars in the Machete Order. They're never even going to know that there was an "Episode I".

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Bought the Face the Hydra deck today because the Magic scene here kind of sucks and I've been wanting to play for ages. And a challenging deck that you can run by yourself seems to be just the thing I need for testing out new builds. But I digress-my Rakdos deck fucking annihilated it. It's all very much based on just how you draw stuff (especially for the Hydra), but one game I was just beating on hydra heads with a trio of unleashed Rakdos Cacklers. Which was hilarious. Also, deathtouch and straight-up removal spells (Doom Blade, Dreadbore, Hero's Downfall, etc) are seriously useful, especially against the bigger heads. All in all, it's quite a fun deck, and I'm pretty glad I bought it. It's good to know that I'm doing something right, deck-wise. Especially because Wizards claims that the difficulty level for the Hydra deck is approximately that of their event decks. So...yeah. I'm ok with that!
  13. So I just watched Paul...if you haven't seen it you totally should. I freaking love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

  15. I have drank far too much rum and cider tonight. Especially when you consider that I have a field trip in...10 hours. Yay Halloween!

  16. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

      Who's getting taken down today?

  17. Tell them something real-look up the Lost Cosmonauts theory. There's a LOT of evidence that the Russians launched dozens of people into space and then erased them from history. There's audio records of military bases catching radio transmissions that said stuff along the lines of "Hello? Will someone answer me? The ship is dying...I don't want to be forgotten. Help me..." before losing the signal. Freaking creepy.
  18. So I just found out that in a few weeks, I'm going to Stratford-upon-Avon to see Richard II, starring David Tennant. Yeah. Be jealous.

Honestly, I don't give a shit about Shakespeare. I'm just stoked about seeing my favorite actor perform.

    Civ 5

That subreddit has pretty much doubled the amount of stuff I know about the game, I love it. Also, the Yogscast has played a few rounds of Brave New World. They're not very good, but they do a fairly good job at showing basic strategies and stuff like that.
  20. After 12 hours of trains, planes and walking around, I'm finally back home in England. Fucking exhausted.

  21. You say that like it's a bad thing. The Iroquois are fucking beasts-Mohawk warriors are like my favorite unit in the game. No iron cost (If I remember correctly) and they're literally unstoppable in forests. Which just happens to be their start bias.
  22. i just saw the Northern Lights, guys.

If it's any consolation, they were really dim and I couldn't get any good pictures. So I'll have to try tomorrow at the local beach.

  23. Actually, really early rushes are integral to many civs-Germany, Rome and the Huns especially excel at ancient/Classical warfare. It's a bit of a dick move, but its a completely viable strategy.
  24. I'm in Norway with no computer... count me in for the next one though!
