I guess it can be worth a shot but it's extremely difficult to get into a small tight-knit community. As time goes on it's harder to invite people because only a fraction of the people here still participate in activities on SPUF (I don't like calling it bigSPUF, the two SPUFs are SPUF and subSPUF). The general consensus of people who do still participate on SPUF will say things like "I don't think there's really anybody who would fit in and belong".
I'm the last person to join that actually posts (Gen. DeGroot doesn't really post all that much, - Britt doesn't count either) and that was over a year ago. I feel like I only got the approval of some because I was actively participating in Hello! at the time (If I wasn't participating in Hello! at that point, I feel corv's answer here would been a bit different...). When I showed up, I recognized a few names (Oh hey look it's Huff he's the fireaxe guy, there's also Medic, Corv, Davjo, DrEvilBrain, XYTWO, Moose) but other than that it was all people I saw but I didn't really post at that point so nobody knew who I was. Even then with those names, I wasn't really connected to any of them (except for XY because he added me straight away and we connected extremely well).
I guess the bottom line is: do they care about the SPUF regulars from 3 years ago? A lot of people on that list go to SPUF to legitimately debate tf2 things and not dick around and post reaction images. That's pretty much how I was before Hello! - posting only when people needed tf2 tech support. I only had like 10 posts in all the itsurblogs combined and the only other notable event I had on SPUF was dominating corv and getting the Col Roule (though I suppose that's only notable to a few people). I've never really had to experience new blood on this forum so what do I know.
This is mostly rambling (I've rewritten this like 4 times) but this is just one of those situations that is odd and probably needs more discussion than just a status post. A lot of people don't check status posts anyway.
