I predict a 75% chance of the game being dumbed down compared to the older ones, but I predict only a 30% chance of that actually affecting how fun (or not fun) the game is. Not happy with those odds, but let's face it, what other stealth games do we have? Like, actual stealth? There's Dishonored, which I've beaten at least half a dozen times, and Deus Ex Human Revolution, which is mostly great for stealth but drops off at the boss fights and the last few hours of the game. The alternatives beyond that are, like, Splinter Cell (which is about as stealthy as Call of Duty Ghosts nowadays) and Metal Gear Solid, and let's face it, if you like Metal Gear for whatever reason, you're probably not reading this thread because you're watching that trailer where Snake hides behind a horse for the fourteenth time.
So simply put, the game can have awful story, awful graphics, awful sound, awful everything else, but as long as it does the stealth right, I'll be happy with my purchase. Even Garrett having a different voice actor now is forgivable if I can pacifist run the game.
Don't apologise, it's very obvious. Although as someone pointed out, Dishonored was inspired by the original Thief games. So Thief inspires Dishonored, and then Dishonored inspires Thief.
Ain't that some meta shit.
