Dumbing down the story into a 'its a slice of life, also zombies, but nevermind that', adding unrelated and unneeded episodes, removing important stuff and adding more moe and fanservice isnt for that? It was more of a bunch of bad choices hinging on an ending that didn't work out. Either that or maybe they were trying to pander but they sucked at that too

I suppose I owe nobody in particular a long rant about Gakkou Gurashi and its adaption, since I just finished the series. There might be spoilers (especially at the end of this little rant) so read at your own risk Whoof. If the anime was an original piece it probably would have been okay. On its own, it was still entertaining and whatnot. But looking at the manga and then to the anime, it made me really wonder why they did what they did, and more importantly why they thought it would be a good idea.0
