    Jurassic World

Don't think there's a thread for this, and the trailer released today: Discuss. Because I'm a little mad about it and I want to know what you guys think first before I go off on it.

...You do realize that the Spinosaurus was by far the most unforgivable sin of JP3, right? Motherfucker killed my t-rex.

Juraasic Park 3 didn't already fuck up the franchise? I'm pretending JP3 and Phantom Menace didn't exist here. Every franchise gets one.

Jurassic World trailer coming out Thursday, now this...guys I can't take this stress. They're going to fuck up my two favorite movie franchises and I'm going to have to take them both at once.
  5. Got my order of MtG cards in the mail, found $20 on the sidewalk, and it's like 65 degrees out. Today's been a damn good day.

    Game Grumps

Idk how I got here, but apparently r/conspiracygrumps is no longer just a joke and is actually like...a legit thing now. There's some really neat detective work and theories being posted, mostly in the past month or so. Jon and his girlfriend have posted on there a few times too. There's some really interesting shit there.

    Game Grumps

So I haven't watched GG in about 6 months, someone catch me up-who the fuck is "Kevin"? He posted on the Grumps subreddit today and it somehow made it to my front page because this is the first time (and I'm paraphrasing here from the thread) that an actual Grump has been on there in ages. So who left-Danny or Ross? I'm betting it's Ross.

My roomate got Smash for the Wii U. I have no idea what I'm doing but the Villager is so much fun. Riding those rockets into battle is fucking awesome.

Nobody worry-they confirmed the other day that the new Battlefront game will have both third and first person perspectives available. Also they're aiming for a holiday 2015 release.

South Park did a MtG episode last night. It featured girls volleyball, roosters, and Randy shooting his dick off. Best episode in a long time.

    hi

    Welcome!
  14. So my family back home got 4 feet of snow in 10 hours...and they're looking at getting another 4 over the next few days. My hometown is literally blocked off-the plows got stuck and there's no way in or out. Meanwhile in Rochester...nothing but sun. Lake effect snow is fucking weird.

Goat Simulator getting expansion, an MMO Expansion, to be precise.

I personally can't wait for the inevitable RTS Age of Goatpires expansion.

    Magic The Gathering (TCG)

Won a game with Marchesa that I really shouldn't have yesterday...a buddy of mine was playing the white C14 deck (which is RIDICULOUSLY strong, btw) and let my other friend (who was at 9) hit for like...54 life, which put him at 2. He got cocky and then took a Boros Charm to the face. And then on my turn I overloaded a Cyclonic Rift and swung in for lethal with Rakdos and Marchesa. I'd had such a shit boardstate all game, I accidentally manascrewed myself early on and didn't hit any land drops for about 8 turns. Such a bullshit win, but hey-I'll take it. Also, I found that you can order all 5 Nephilim for less than $2 (including shipping/tax) on TCGplayer. And since my group's said that we can use them as commanders...needless to say I bought them all.
  18. Successfully made a roast chicken without fucking it up. Hell yes.

  19. World War Z as an HBO docuentary-type miniseries. It'd blow the Walking Dead out of the water, I guarantee it.

Oh god no. We already have the movie for that. I'm talking a more or less direct remake of the book. You know, the one with slow zombies that looked at the social and political aspects of the zombie apocalypse? It'd be sick.

  20. Well, we don't really actually know all that much about the actual composition of comets. They're not quite asteroids-aka big balls of rock or metal. They're sometimes described as big space snowballs, which while being a gross oversimplification is kinda close to the mark. But besides that, we didn't even know if we could even land on a comet until yesterday-there were worries that the probe would simply sink into the surface, or any other number of catastrophic events. Now that Philae's up and running, we're going to get so much stuff about what makes these things work. Like Kay said, it was also practice for other things. The probe carried an experimental harpoon landing system. Basically you fire at the object and reel yourself in with it. I don't think it actually worked (I believe it failed to fire?) but it's an idea that's been suggested to use when landing on smaller bodies. Remember, shit like asteroids or comets have negligible gravity, so even if we can get into an orbit around one, that doesn't necessarily mean that landing is going to be easy (or even possible) with the aid of what little gravity there is. This is a system designed to land and attach probes (and maybe eventually spacecraft) in situations where you can't trust the object you're landing on to keep you stuck to itself.
  21. I'm so stoked about this. It's one of the coolest space-related things that has happened in years, and it's good to know that there's at least one space agency out there that's still working well. Gives me hope for the future, you know?
  22. I really wish NASA wasn't more or less dead. Landing a space probe on a fucking comet...how fucking cool is that?

    Doctor Who

To be fair, the same logic could be used with the Master's escape from Gallifrey-it was never shown, we were never told about it, so therefore it never happened.
