We have alternate threads for a purpose. The point of a board, even as casual as this one, is to organize conversations. If "everything goes in whatever thread" was true, then we would have one long-ass confusing thread, that would be impossible to hold conversions on. A random reaction image or relevant copy-paste is fine, but if it's just two people parroting random things at each other, it shouldn't be here. 
 
This isn't "stifling" or abuse, these requests are merely to keep this place working and readable. 

There's a reason that I'm not particularly fond of the shitposting thread: it's about as interesting as a piece of cardboard floating in a puddle of distilled failure.
 
However, it does have a few redeeming qualities; for example, it is not a long, tedious series of flamebaiting posts, and it does not actively drench other threads in the aforementioned liquid failure.
 
Marcus' posts- and the replies to them- have gone above and beyond the call of duty, not only reminding me of everything I detest about rampant shitposting, but also all the things that I don't detest about shitposting. Since the mods don't seem particularly interested in doing anything, I'll be the backseat driver and ask that people kindly quit it. It's filling up space and accomplishing nothing of value.

I feel like such a tragic event deserves more than a simple acknowledgement, so here goes.
 
For as long as I've been on the Internet, it's been natural to see people come and go, some quietly and some very loudly, but that's just how everything in life goes. Even I myself didn't expect to be a part of this community as long as I have, knowing my own history, but I've been around long enough to see plenty of members come and go.
 
For all that I've been a part of, I've never had to confront the possibility that someone would so suddenly depart, permanently and with no chance to return. Of course, nobody ever does because of the nature of the Internet, where nothing ever truly dies, but is simply forgotten to most. It feels even more surreal because of how separated the Internet is from real life, leading most of us to believe in them as two completely separate realms.
 
That brings us to now, where one of our own has had to depart life suddenly and at a relatively young age. I can't claim to have known XYTWO too well beyond the server I once ran and the forums I still run, but from the times I did have with him he was always a great friend to have, committed, active, and fun. He made more than enough of an impact here to make the members of this forum acutely aware when he disappeared during this tragic course of events.
 
It's no understatement to say that he's made his mark, and his presence will be sorely missed. His passing reminds us that at the end of the day, all we can hope to do is have made enough of a good impact when it is time for us to finally move on.
 
Thus, we bid farewell to you, James "XYTWO" Lebowitz. Your impact on the people here will never be forgotten and will continue with us to the end of time, and when it is time for us to join you beyond the mortal coil, all that we can hope for is to have measured up to you.

It's sad what happened in France, and I wish stuff like this did not happen, but it does sadly. I'm a muslim and I'm against terrorism, and I condemn the attack.
 
Since this seems to be more about this being another attack by "muslims". I'll just say that these "Muslim" terrorists also kill other muslims, as well as children. There was an attack at a Pakistani school last month, killing 145 people, most of them children, which is forbidden in Islam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Peshawar_school_massacre

These terrorists are also just damaging Islam. These attacks are causing more uproar against muslims in general, but the majority doesn't do this kind of shit, and the attack is being condemned by other muslims as well.
 
As for caricature drawings, I personally just ignore them. I don't like that it happens, but I can deal with it. Some react with violence, burning of flags and such, but that really just ruins it even more for us.

So I've finally gotten around to playing Dragon Age: Origins, and I'm enjoying it a lot so far, but damn it Morrigan, NOTHING PLEASES YOU.
