Winter hadn't quite started, but in the streets of New York, it was as cold as hell. Decorations were hung from skyscrapers, songs played in the streets, and the windows of buildings were illuminated with warm lights. The scent of large meals seeped out through every door, and the windows had shadows of families joyfully dining together. Spufpowered tried to block everything out. He didn't want to hear it, see it, or smell it. Everyone was having a great time but him. He never knew his family. His parents abandoned him when he was just two years old, and nobody ever adopted him. All of those miserable eighteen years in the orphanage made him the cold, sad, quiet man he is today. He was an extremely bright child, but America's education system didn't treat him very well, and since he had no family, he couldn't afford college. All he wanted to do was prepare a nice meal for himself and his dog. He went straight from work to his favorite deli, but when he arrived, it was closed. He wandered the quiet, abandoned streets in hopes of finding a store that would be able to serve him, but he had no such luck. After he was about forty blocks from his home, he sat down on a street bench to rest. He stared up at the cold, grey sky and closed his eyes. Ding, dong...ding, dong...ding, dong...He awoke to the sound of a church bell. Six o'clock. He didn't want to fall asleep. Had he really sat there, on a hard metal bench, in the freezing weather for half an hour? He immediately stood up and started stumbling towards his apartment. After he had walked just a single block, he was fully awake and just as sad as before. But something seemed different about the city. It was still quiet, cold and mysterious, but it seemed...louder. It wasn't the lonely radios playing thanksgiving music, and there wasn't enough traffic to make the noise. It seemed faster, more upbeat, and extremely out of place. He shrugged it off and kept walking, but by the middle of the block, he could vividly hear dance music. He looked to his left and identified the source. A small building stood out from the rest. It was much cleaner, had more color, and seemed very modern and vibrant. It had no windows, but one could easily conclude that there was a party inside. He looked at the sign above the door and it read "Lonelyman's Hideout." The name and lack of windows made it seem very sketchy, but its outward appearance made Spufpowered think it was safe. He waited in front of the door for several minutes. It was obviously open and busy, but nobody came in or out. He stood there, in the cold, getting buffeted by the wind, trying to decide if he should go in, when he started to turn away. He took just a few steps before his eyes focused on a banner hanging from a lamp post: "Take chances. Step outside your comfort zone. Live your life and have fun!" It must've been a message. He turned around, walked right up to the door, took a deep breath, and opened it. Chapter 2: The Big Boys He had never seen anything quite like it in his twenty three years of life. There were men everywhere, of all shapes, sizes and colors. Dance music played as the partygoers talked, danced and drank. He saw an exquisite bar in the very back of the restaurant, and he decided he could go for a drink. He walked past countless men on the way there. They all looked so happy. They were hugging, kissing, or just having a good time, but Spufpowered had never been exposed to gay men. He couldn't quite make the connection. He reached the back and took a seat at a stool. He was amazed at the amount of alcohol they had, ranging from exotic Hawaiian coconut-beer mixtures to ice cream floats made with wine and topped with a "special cream." The bartender looked up from his book and asked, "What can I get for ya, big boy?" Spufpowered snapped back into reality and stared at the bartender for a few moments. "Umm...well...I haven't decided yet." The bartender gave him a smirk, said "take your time," and went back to reading. Spufpowered continued to stare at the menu when a shirtless man jumped onto the stool to his right. After spinning several times, the man looked at Spufpowered and said "I haven't seen you around. Let me guess: you're new here." Spufpowered nodded without saying a word. "Welcome to our place. I'm Steampowered, but you can just call me Steam. So what made you come down to our bar? Just looking for a nice drink, or are you looking for a nice boy to spend some time with?" Spufpowered's eyes drifted down to Steam's chest. He looked like he came straight from heaven. His chest was muscular, but not freakishly big. He had a distinct, beautiful six-pack. His broad shoulders, which were partially covered by his long brown hair, gave way to strong, powerful biceps. The rest of his arms were just as toned, too, with a thick forearm and smooth, large hands that rested on his huge thighs. Spufpowered's eyes kept wandering, and they wandered right between his thighs. He gazed at the large -- no, huge -- bulge in Steam's pants and thought- "Hey, little guy. You there? Don't be falling asleep on me." Spufpowered looked at Steam's chiseled face and felt as his cheeks became as red as fire. "Oh, I'm so sorry sir, I was just...my name is Spufpowered, but you can call me Spuf if you want. I'm really sorry Mr. Steampowered. I really didn't mean to- I wasn't- I don't-" Steam brought his finger to Spuf's lips and silenced him. "Relax, bro. We're all friends here. You don't need to apologize for looking at me." He pulled his finger away from Spuf's lips, but he just sat there with his mouth open for a few seconds. "Okay. Let's try this again. My name is Steam. How are you doing?" Spuf sat quiet for a few seconds, but finally mustered up the courage to speak. "I'm doing good, and you?" Steam looked at him with an expression of disappointment. Did it really take him that long to say something so lame? Steam thought Spuf was a cool enough guy, but he didn't have time for shy betas. "Ronnie. Get me your strongest beer -- no I don't want that -- it's not even for me! Okay, just clean, please. Just get me your strongest beer and make sure it's clean." Steam slid Spuf a mug of extremely alcoholic beer and smiled at him. "Trust me, this will make you feel better." Spuf stared at his reflection, looked over to Steam, and then downed the entire mug without even taking a break to breathe. Okay, that's all I feel like writing for now. Do you guys want to see more of Steam and Spuf? Yes or yes? And don't even try to say you don't want Steam's
