If you look at it from a pure gameplay perspective, Bioshock is normal at best, and most of the game is repetitive and pretty much shoves you into a cold, underwater city with some toys to play with then goes off, locks you in there, then goes down stairs to the living room to watch late night sitcoms and the Saturday Night Live.
But you can say the same with Deus Ex and Half-Life.
That's true,
I suppose the point I was making, is that people criticize Infinite for not having the same gameplay as Bioshock 1, when the gameplay of Bioshock 1 wasn't significantly better or worse.
Both Rapture and Columbia were fun to explore and unravel the history of.
For some reason most people either claim Bioshock Infinite was a 9/10 or a 3/10 while I'd honestly say it was a 7/10. It was fun and did things differently (which I greatly prefer over the copypasted gameplay of Bioshock 2) but it also had huge flaws. Which one had the better combat is completely subjective since the games were just completely different. Personally, I preferred the combat of Bioshock 1 since it was more freeform and I hate regenerating health from a design standpoint.
