I think the idea of making the moderator appointment more of a "public" affair is an interesting one, but I certainly also feel that this whole process is a bit unfocused to say the least. You've got people who is nominating "everyone" (I guess for the sake of not stepping on toes? Or a lack of interest maybe), you've got people who have no interest in being a moderator getting nominated and like Raz said, it feels more like a popularity contest than anything.
 
I don't quite understand what the purpose of the whole "Moderator application" thing was, when it amounted to this in the end. I also fail to understand why the current administration team are disallowed their own nominees. I can only draw experience from the previous forum I used to admin, but back there, it was mainly the administrators who were consulted when it came to appointing new mods. The reason being that the administrators had a way better overview of the entire situation. I don't know what kind of permissions Binary and Rammite have here on Spufpowered, but I am going to go ahead and assume that they have full access to both modCP and adminCP and probably also the Report Center. Going on this assumption, wouldn't they be the most "qualified" to help in appointing new mods?

The admins have released a comprehensive administration update. The notes for the update are below.
member registrations are now required to go through a light administration check and approval before being allowed to access the forum all public access to the forum has been blocked, and now requires a login to see anything members are no longer allowed to request self-bans, and all members so banned have been unbanned alt accounts are now not allowed to be made without explicit preapproval by the administration, and all current alts have been banned moderators have been enabled - elected (with admin approval) for 1-year terms - more details to be released shortly forum staff may be requested for specific forums by active users Further updates may be released shortly.

Almost two years ago, I gave away the majority of my Team Fortress 2 backpack, figured I would repeat the process with my Dota 2 inventory... Because I'm bored. I've already sold my most valuable items, sorry about that, but that was ~$40 I would rather have for myself.
 
Anything that is tradeable in my inventory can be yours per request.
 
Regarding the few completed sets I have in there, I'll let you have the entire set if you want it. Not much point in getting one random item from a set without the rest of them.
 
While we're at it, feel free to ask for Team Fortress stuff, if anyone still plays that game. Only things I'm not willing to part with for sentimental reasons are gifted items.
 
If no one wants anything, I'll donate the stuff to joinDOTA so they can put them up for raffles.

Nope, this was started AFTER the SPUFserver, believe it or not.
 
However, it still wasn't technically the server's base until I took the server over last September.

Everyone calm down.
 
Nothing is happening to your beloved subSPUF. It will still continue to be up and maintained (well, as long as the dolla necessary to keep it up remains inbound, but we haven't had an issue with that yet).
 
The projects have been moved off of the forum. Currently the senior management is working out what their future will be, but in the near future most of them are remaining up. The SPUFserver has been taken down and the High Admins Council dissolved, yes, but that's until we figure out what to do with it. We have plans to continue all of them in the future.
 
I'll let you know if anything changes.
