      I would totally watch a gritty He-Man reboot.

      Digimon is another good one. Barring Tamers (my god, barring Tamers...) the series was for the most part extremely lighthearted but could still easily be used for something much more serious. Something as simple as making the predicament of being stuck in an unfamiliar world as horrifying as it would really be would go a long way.
