I have a problem - a tick which is biting at me. People basically spit at new games for their simplified design and fall on to their knees to worship old games. I myself am a fan of old games (plenty of hours into WCIII, Dungeon Keeper, etc.), and I admit: they were typically harder than modern games. But is a simplified design of games all that bad? Is the gaming community evolving into masochists who only want challenges and nothing else? New games are plenty difficult themselves at times. tame modern stealthers. People are ready to rage at new additions such as eagle vision, or anything of the sort because it's "not like the original Thief". The original Thief was insanely difficult to beat perfectly with overly complicated bullshit. Bad? No. Too hard? Yes. my point boils down to this: is simplified games all that bad? They still provide challenges, sometimes more realistic than old challenges, and appeal to more people.
