All I can remember from last night's dream is that at one point there was a family reunion at my place and one of my relatives was high out of her mind.  She then said she was going to do the ultimate drug: bees.  I thought she was joking but sure enough she took a big jar of bees out of her purse.  I managed to wrestle the jar away from her before she could open it, though this of course only pissed off the bees more, and to make things worse there wasn't a proper lid but only a piece of cardboard that had been tied to the jar and which the bees were bumping against.  I took the jar, ran to the door, threw it as far as I could, and then closed the door.  This worked in that no bees got into the house, but there was a loud buzzing sound for the entire remainder of the dream, and in the dream I just accepted that I couldn't go outside ever again.

If the BL3 writing was already atrocious, a whole game centered on Tiny Tina with the same writer of BL3 will surely bring the end of mankind.

I have no idea why they still didnt kill this character. They already ruined or killed all characters from the other games, just one more wont make any difference.

Recently I've noticed that the older the web design style of a site, the more likely I am to trust it.

I never really noticed that until you mentioned it. Around the 6th generation of consoles (Gamecube, PS2, Xbox) there was like a huge focus on destructible shit and explosions. Like there were entire games where all you did was destroy cities. I guess because it was so new and exciting at the time, but you'd figure that nowadays, with graphics basically plateau'd and so much more advanced physics and destruction simulation technology available, there'd be some sort of renewed focus on destructible environments. But the biggest destructible aspect of any recent AAA game I can remember is Doom Eternal's zombies, or like...I think The Last of Us 2 had realistically-breaking glass and that's it. Might've been Half Life Alyx.

I recently finished a rerun of Red Faction: Guerilla and it makes me sad that it came out in the time it did. Because it had a lot of issues that are kind of rookie sandbox mistakes now, and there's just NOT ENOUGH OF IT

Sandbox is tiny and some areas are just dead zones where no gameplay happens Upgrade system is pretty flat and upgrades are rarely interesting, mainly +ammo or +damage Ironically, the remastered edition gives you a bunch of upgrades that have interesting drawbacks and upsides But they're only unlocked on NG+ mode and they're recycled from multiplayer Not enough enemy types and all enemies are fought in the same way (shooting a million bullets in their head) Not enough weapons, and despite having four weapon slots there are two "must-use" weapons and a dedicated melee slot Vehicles handle like they're on mars- wait, working as intended Core gameplay depletes playable areas of the map (liberating areas despawns all enemies and removes most missions) Utilizing the unique selling point of blowing up buildings also shrinks the "playable" area since outside of specific missions, destroying an area means it's gone forever This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it could have been tied into area control, maybe having EDF rebuild strongholds/checkpoints unless their control level is below a certain point, or maybe be tied to the "pop-up" missions that trigger at random, idk It really pains me that nowadays there are these bog-standard sandbox games that can drag on for twenty plus hours and have no unique qualities and then red faction guerilla feels way too short and small. It ALSO pains me that despite AAA games having a hard-on for spectacle, destructo-physics are still relegated to cutscenes or specific set piece areas. I hate it!!!!!!!

It also pains me that the series got smothered early because Guerilla's sequel crapped the bed.

I've made it a point to watch shows from a variety of time periods and if you go back to the 50's-60's you'll see people saying the same thing about Civil War veterans.  In particular on Andy Griffith an old veteran character will be a veteran of the Civil War or Spanish American War, since WWII vets are Andy's age with WWI vets being older, but not elderly.  What all this means is that the Civil War to people then was about like WWII is to us now, still in living memory, but just barely.  This also means that in ten or twenty years it will be like the Civil War was portrayed in the 70's and 80's, i.e. something from history books that is too distant in the past to truly imagine.

A 1970 Corvette reacted to Razputin in TF2 general
I wouldn't want TF2 to make many more big balance changes this late in its lifetime. I'd like to see some stuff touched up but honestly, TF2 is probably the most balanced it has ever been right now. There's a lot to complain about but they're all nitpicks, there's no class that I think is truly overpowered or underpowered. Like I complain about the Kunai abuse but Spy is still the weakest class, it's more just obnoxious to see your team get eaten because everyone is apparently deaf to death screams.

That being said, in the fantasy world where we get TF3 I'd like to see sweeping changes:
-#1 with a point , an alternative to medic as currently even in a 12v12 game one team having a single medic greatly increases the odds of that team winning, like giving engie or heavy some kind of improved healing abilities to offset how powerful Medic is
-Spy and Sniper should probably be the same class, also Sniper quickscopes oneshotting half the cast gets pretty insane at high levels. I've seen several people argue uncharged headshots should deal 120, and then still charging up to 450 damage max charge in the same time.
-Demo somehow getting the melee class taped to him is super weird in retrospect and seeing an actual dedicated melee/tank class designed from the ground up would be great
-related to the above, melee hitreg not being complete yank would be great
-pyro serves no purpose and the few things he is good at currently are super obnoxious (airblasting ubers, countering spy way too hard with the homewrecker, also somehow countering himself???)
-In general I'd like to see some classes getting some kind of way to play around their hard counters, like scout becoming utterly useless once sentries get involved and spy getting bullied by half the cast (why the hell did scout get an anti-spy secondary???)

And of course remove random crits and get an anti-cheat that works, but those speak for themselves

The skinny that I heard was that Wizards had planned to do Ikoria style tie-ins permanently after the Godzilla cards being somewhat well received.  According to this idea it was too late to try to get anything to work for Zendikar Rising but they tried to scramble to get the God of War license for Kaldheim (which, if they actually tried, also fell through).  Story goes that the decision to get the license for Harry Potter at the same time that the set was beginning design, meaning that it would essentially be designed as a Harry Potter set.

However, I don't think it was ever meant to be at its core Harry Potter in the same way that the upcoming core set is apparently a D&D set.  They would have their own versions of things if for no other reason than being able to put their own trademarks (much like how Theros was a set with blatant characters from Greek myths which were given OC names that no one remembers rather than just being called "Trojan Horse", "Hades," etc.)  Then certain cards would be given alternate Harry Potter forms afterwards a la the Godzilla cards.

That being said my info on this is rumors that were been thrown around around the time of Kaldheim's release.  Haven't paid attention to what's going on in Magic since then and I didn't know anything about their "Universes Beyond" crossover sets.  And to try to figure out what that was I ended up looking at the official twitter and now I have AIDS, thanks.

What I remember from Crisis is a really exciting introduction with fun stealth combat vs human soldiers, then a blinding white haze of hot hatred and then a cinematic ending sequence I desperately wanted to end

I didn't want to make a thread about it, but I want to stubbornly cling to traditions that I don't even think anyone bothers with upholding anymore.

What did you all think of 2020? I did the chart just because I was bored and planetside's servers are dying.
