It seems that now, however, all gibus drops will be Ghostly. So any Gibi from before this are still Gibi, but everything after becomes Ghostly.
HOW TO PLAY PLANETSIDE 2 IN A NUT SHELL:
GAME-WIDE THINGS TO KNOW
Bullets have bullet travel and bullet drop. Not really noticeable at medium-long ranges.
Day/night system. Changes very slowly. Night is seriously dark, and perfect for ambushes.
You have 4 "Currencies". 3 Resources, and Auraxium. Both collected automatically.
• Resources are collected very fast, capped at 750. Mostly for buying special ammo and vehicles.
• Auraxium is collected very slowly. Currency for buying new weapons permanently.
Fighting well will get you levels. These don't do much.
Doing well will get you Certifications. They are for unlocking small perks like new grenades, silencers, or stronger armor.
SPAWNING
Pick a spawn and a class. Straightforward.
LIGHT ASSAULT - The "Scout". Has jetpacks and the most explosives. Hit-and-run tactics.
HEAVY ASSAULT - Heavy + Soldier. Machine gun, temporary damage resistance, and anti-tank rockets.
ENGINEER - Engineer. Makes mounted machine guns, not automated sentries. Can repair MAX units, vehicles, and crucial base generators.
INFILTRATOR - Spy + Sniper. Invis cloak. Sniper Rifle. Rather simple.
MEDIC - Medic. Heals people. Can project an AoE healfield. Actually has a better gun than Light's or Engi's.
HOW TO WIN PLS
Pretend the game is one hugemongous game of TC.
Split the map into many Areas.
Each Area will mine a certain resource for your team.
You want all the resources.
BASE CONTROL
There are ♥♥♥♥tons of Capture Points.
Cap all the points and kill all the enemies, and your team owns that Area.
Capping a point is as simple as locating the Control Terminal and standing next to it.
HOW TO GET TO THE ACTION
You can Quick Drop to any fight for a small Resource fee. It has a cooldown of 30 minutes.
You can also spawn Vehicles.
Tanks and Carriers are standard.
There are also MAX units - Mech suits where you can only be healed by an Engineer.
You can also get a plane, but flying those is ♥♥♥♥ing hard.
TEAMS
TERRAN REPUBLIC (TR)
• Operates on the motto of "MORE DAKKA".
• All of thier weaponsry/vehicles fire lodsofbullets, but low damage.
• They were the original government, but they are now seen as a cruel dictatorship.
NEW CONGLOMERATE (NC)
• Centers on the idea of "Hit them fast, and hit them hard"
• Everything does absurdedly high damage, but low everything-else.
• The rebellion group. Started off fighting the TR, ended up no better than terrorists.
VANU SOVEREIGNTY (VS)
• Alien technology - "Newer is better"
• They have lasers. Means no bullet drop, but crazy damage-falloff means they can't fight long ranges.
• Usually attack at night, where they can get closer before seen.
• Researchers that embraced alien tech. They believe humanity can only be saved through this alien tech, and violently convert people.
