It does feel like there's not too many "B" games around, and that everything is either a hyper-AAA game with season passes and an online account and a ton of marketing.... or a game made by a dude in his basement.

Codename 47's on Steam, though. It's true both aged like shit, even when I played them nearly a decade ago.

I've heard the new Hitman games called 'Hitman 2016' or "World of assassination"
You could technically say that it's Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, but a lot of people skip straight to blood money and contracts.
So when people Say Hitman or Hitman 2, they're probably talking the new ones. Not Codename 47 where you shoot tigers in the jungle or Silent Assassin where power walking breaks disguise.

I kind of like the recent trend of game reboots/remasters even if they have confusing names.
There's a lot of 360/PS2 stuff that was great but trapped on old hardware.

    Warning: Long Dumb Rambling ahead

So I guess all this to say that I'm glad old, mostly cool, games are getting remade because they were designed (for better or worse) without modern day trends, marketing, or GAAS.
And if they do well enough, they might inspire studios to revitalize that franchise.

Every piece of information that comes out regarding the L4D2 community update in a week makes me extremely excited. As someone who spent 200+ hours fixing up the maps, seeing the tools that I will have access to in the future is extremely awesome.

Why contain it? Let it spill out into the streets.

Decided to do a little fun exercise and "demake" that last drawing using the limitations and stipulations of Flipnote Studio. Two colors, two layers, and a small selection of brushes. It has to be drawn at actual resolution as well, because if it weren't, it wouldn't look like it were drawn with the Flipnote brushes:

Very fun working with these limitations and a nice blast from the past, might do this again every now and then.

I beat Half Life Alyx. I know it's been out a while, I got sidetracked. No spoilers in this.

+Combat against most enemies is pretty dynamic, VR shooting is pretty fun and most of the areas are open enough to not feel like janky corridoor fighting
+Exploring areas in VR is pretty fun, and the environments in HLA are very well detailed and had great atmosphere throughout (even when texture streaming made them all N64-tier blobs to make up for me not spending 1K+ on a GPU)
+The gravity gloves are fuckin' sick and definitely the most useful and fun mechanic for VR's "grabbing things being a pain sometimes" issue. Other VR games are ALREADY adapting them because they're so nice
+Ran great (I had some weird tracking issues but I wasn't sure if they were my GPU, handmedown Vive set, or the game itself)
+Obviously you'd expect this from Valve, but pretty much every area was "fair" and the game never screwed you over
    +Last combat section is awesome
+Weapon upgrades were a good way to reward exploration and provide a power increase over time despite the low amount of overall weapons you get

-The more spooky parts weren't very fun tbh. I roadblocked hard on one mission in particular (if you've seen/played HLA you'll know which one I'm talking about) just because I didn't find it fun and upon seeing how much of it there was I dreaded loading up the game. Maybe that makes me a pussy, I dunno. VR spooky stuff hits much harder than non-VR spook. Maybe if you like horror/suspenseful stuff this is an upside for you.
-Load times on first startup are nearing unacceptable levels unless you have it on an SSD (loads after the first level are fine tho). At first I thought it was a glitch that the first save you load just hangs, but after setting down the set and doing some other stuff for like 5 minutes it actually loaded.
-No overly long vehicle sections, wtf
-ABHing and bunny hopping seem impossible in this one so speedruns most likely won't be as whooshy movementy as HL1 or 2

Definitely a must buy IF you already have VR. Probably not substantial enough to warrant buying a VR set for on its own, but no single VR game is. It's definitely the most substantial VR game I've played, but most of the ones I've played are more arcadey or tech demo-ey. HLA has an actual plot, progression, all the trappings of an actual game. Good stuff.

I'm not even big on Xenoblade but I feel for the fans. Remember that the DLC was decided from the beginning -- Rex got shafted and his game came out a year before Smash, Byleth gets in and his game isn't even our yet for another half year at the time (and that's only relative to the Smash release date, not even dev time!) -- "too early" my ass. From what I understand, Nintendo gave Sakurai a list of characters to work with at the start and he picked a few to make into DLC. There are so many franchises I wish anyone at Nintendo gave half a shit about as much as Sakurai does about FE, just tossing characters in for the sake of there being a new game rather than for the actual sake and merit of the character.

Honestly though, I think the first wave of DLC was pretty good overall. It's just that...why did they save the FE character for the last spot? And not like the beginning or middle or something? It's not like they don't know; there's not a chance in hell they don't know, they literally joke about there being a shit ton of swordfighters in his reveal trailer. Blue-haired self-insert anime swordfighter is just a pretty underwhelming note to finish on.

One thing is eternally constant. I will at least once a month get to a point here I stay up to an absurd time with the end of it being Mario Maker 2 videos of family friendly youtubers I normally wouldn't like.
