That was when I was just starting to get into Blue Oyster Cult beyond their three big hits, so probably:

EDIT: And as for something that at the time was recent, as opposed to me delving through really old music:

One would think that fetishzing guys behind Facerig with voice changers would make every fan a degenerate, but I'm not here to kinkshame anyone.

What I remember from Crisis is a really exciting introduction with fun stealth combat vs human soldiers, then a blinding white haze of hot hatred and then a cinematic ending sequence I desperately wanted to end

I didn't want to make a thread about it, but I want to stubbornly cling to traditions that I don't even think anyone bothers with upholding anymore.

What did you all think of 2020? I did the chart just because I was bored and planetside's servers are dying.

Warning: wall of opinions that none of you care about. What did YOU think of 2020? You don't have to make a chart.

If you want something more substantial though, here's my survey of the Gundam Franchise:

I think that literally the only 2020 anime I watched was BNA.  Almost watched the new Gundam: Build Divers but then remembered how mediocre the first season was and watched Dancougar instead.  Watching a lot of retro anime and non-anime limits my ability to see shows as they air, but also makes it easier to avoid duds.

As for BNA, I guess I can give a short review of that.  It's Trigger, so it's good, especially in terms of visuals.  But I think it suffered from only being 12 episodes.  The early episodes focus on worldbuilding and goofing off, which is fine and the show would have been worse without it.  But the last few episodes had to stuff way too much in them and it felt like the plot was not so much happening as it was being explained.  It also was kind of weird how Michiru only uses her human form in literally one episode.  I mean, I know that there's a running gag about her liking the beast form despite wanting to go back to being human, but it seems strange when the show makes a big deal about the other beastmen making a big deal about spending most of their time in human form.

Doesn't dethrone the reigning champion of Gurren Lagann (yes I know that's technically not Trigger, shut up).  I would put it on the Trigger scale one step above Kill La Kill.

As for retro anime I watched, Initial D and Galaxy Express 999 were both pretty cool.

I just played Crysis 1. It really makes me think of a triple-A science fiction movie that starts off with a cool premise that would make a fun movie, but then throws it away to have a big, stupid action movie ending that just ends up being boring despite everything happening in front of you

The first half is fun, you're fighting human targets that appear to have some kind of AI, and you're in large maps with at least a bit of a combat arena sandbox so you can take things your way, jumping on roofs and throwing dumpsters at people, cloaking around and headshotting everyone, etc. But then it throws it out the window and makes the enemies for the second half weird alien things that don't have AI beyond W+M1, the maps are just straight lines, and the entire game just goes down the toilet into frustrating and boring "set pieces"

The aliens might be the most annoying enemies I've seen around. They fly around, it's fuckin' impossible to really tell if you killed one because their spindly tentacle animations look the same as every other action they have, they explode several seconds AFTER dying which can of course kill you, they have FREEZE RAYS that literally make you unable to move or even look around (sets you up for a one shot by any other nearby enemies too, fun! Or you could be guiding a rocket into the boss and have the boss freeze you, you fall over, and the rocket tracks to the ground in front of you and kills you too, also fun), all of their stupid beam attacks seemingly randomly go through cover... They are a fucking textbook case of what NOT to make your FPS game enemies.

The entire game is also terrible at explaining anything, at one point you can have two choppers tailing you without any info as to how to shoot them down, what to shoot them down with, and even that they're supposed to be chasing you at all (later on in the SAME mission they make a big deal of "THEY'RE SENDING A CHOPPER AFTER YOU, FIND A WAY TO DEAL WITH IT!"). I also have an overall gripe with the suit power system in general; taking damage in armor mode drains your power, so then you won't have the power necessary to escape with speed or cloak, leading to you just dying anyway. Maybe the intent was to stay in speed mode or something, but armor seems to be the "default" for the game. Also there's a ton of bugs but I don't know how much of the stuff I encountered was bugs or just bad design.

When I was doing the commentary for Half Life Episode 1, there was so much talk about making Alyx an NPC follower that didn't get on the player's nerves; I occasionally thought it was kind of silly how much they focused on it, but god damn I hate every NPC in this game, doubly so if they're actually part of the fight. The entire final boss fight was just two dickheads who did nothing the entire game sit in a plane hovering nearby and watch you struggle with the stupid fucking rocket launcher with a single sliver of cover from giant beams that may or may not hit you through them. "NOMAD WHAT ARE YOU DOING, SHOOT THE TURRETS!!" "NOMAD THEY'RE GOING TO DESTROY THE SHIP!" All I could think of is "DOESN'T THAT FUCKING SHIP HAVE ANY WEAPONS TO MAYBE HELP ME FEND OFF THE ENDLESS HORDES OF STUPID WAR OF THE WORLDS TRIPOD KNOCKOFFS WITH THE WORLD'S SHITTIEST ROCKET LAUNCHER SYSTEM EVER"

I mean even at its best the game wasn't really super special; the guns never really feel that good, the human enemy AI was meh, tons of segments were frustrating and made me almost want to yell "waht the FUCK am I supposed to do here?" but the core gameplay of utilizing all the suit abilities to pick apart groups of enemies was pretty fun and could have been so much more.

Oh also the game was locked to 60 (maybe 75?) FOV and had no way to change it without console commands. That alone was a horrible sign and I should have stopped once I saw that. Of course in the forums for the game the official response was "crysis automatically configures fov to your screen size why would you want to change it? :^)" Fuck those devs, I was wondering why the first level of the game felt like I looking through a sniper scope the entire time.

I remember really liking Crysis 2; that was a long time ago and I'll have to see if it holds up. I had never played Crysis 1 before so I was curious about it; I plan on never playing it again

Not quite as good as some of the others.

Quite the upside on that one.

Amazingly the con actually balances the busted upside.

SWAT 3 generates a random name for you when you start a career, but you can rename yourself and I usually do.

This time it gave me the name "Dick Koch".  I felt obligated to accept.

The only real "fever dream" that I had was just a dream of me in my room.  My room was absolutely normal, at least in terms of looks.  But I couldn't stop staring at the red standby light on my stereo, because it was actually a dinosaur that was trying to kill me.  Like, it didn't look like a dinosaur or make noises or even move.  I was just filled with the knowledge that despite it looking in very way like a normal light, it was actually a dinosaur that was plotting to kill me.  And then I actually did wake up, and my room was exactly the same, except now I knew the light wasn't actually a dinosaur.

Only time in my life that I actually wondered if I had gone insane.

    Got an epic length one.

For one reason or another, the government decided to make high schools teaching life skills mandatory, and thus is providing additional education even for those who already completed college/higher education, so I was back in my heavily renovated high school with my old classmates, The school itself had a darker paint theme, and the layout was more of a labyrinth then a school, and had living quarters for some reasons (much like a dorm).

For the first night back, people just kinda caught up with each other, talking about what they did over the years, don't remember what but most people took office jobs so their lives were relatively boring,  I did met up with my old HS crush (who was also single), confessed my love for her, and spent the night with her. Cut to the first day of class, cooking,  they were teaching basic skills on how to make food for oneself, with things like roast chicken, pizza, etc.  I guess there was a magic refrigerator, because I somehow got the ingredients for sushi and made a spectacular platter that wowed everyone. Cut to lunch, with it somehow being the platter enough for more than 700 people.

The afternoon class was automotive repair, with a project of a demolition derby at the end of class, with the instructor giving out the bare minimum of information, so most people did not build/fix enough for the upcoming contest, since I work in the business, I proceed to utterly destroy everyone in fixing, and then the demolition derby afterwards. People got mad at me for some reason, and had a long chase through the school, with even more weird/non-euclidean geometry, then slowly, I got the "running very slowly in a dream" thing going on, and woke up.

Last I read of it, it was made by a secondary team, 2K Australia, which is why literally everyone has an Australian accent and pretty much every character is a bland one-note sociopath.

This is the first boss theme for Exceed 3 Jade Penetrate Black Package (can you tell that's a title from a Japanese company?):

The boss fight is choreographed so that the final attack comes at 1:30, and from that point on there's maybe 20 seconds left in the boss fight.  So the cool new movement that starts at 2:00 will only be heard in game if you really delay on the results screen.
