it has been a while since I shared something on these forums...

Few weeks ago while I was looking for teammates for some Destiny 2 activities I ran into a Team Fortress 2 modding community legend.

    Anyone still remembers FlaminSarge?
YES! the same guy that coded part of the original VS Saxton Hale gamemode and created the infamous TF2Randomizer, the one server mod which allowed your wild dreams of crazy loadouts to become reality (now I miss being able to literally backstab people as a Scout).

Unfortunately he's now retired from the TF2 modding scene and has moved over to Destiny 2 and other games.

Definitely made my day to know that those guys that made popular source engine community gamemodes are still out there.

Reminds me of the incredible story of Counter Strike Surf that blew up on reddit a long time ago.

I might even setup a nostalgic interview for the TheDailySPUF if anyone ever wanted to know what was FlaminSarge's favorite loadout on TF2Randomizer.

    Speaking of that game...
    Super useful advice:
You can actually purchase Outer Worlds on the Microsoft Store... or literally play it for free* with the Xbox Game Pass. Excellent choice if you feel like dodging Tim Sweeney's Chinese store.

Meanwhile the "Fallout of Fallout 76" still has not ended apparently. Even someone snagged Bethesda's new service domain because they forgot to register it

Hey at least the new website looks pretty appropriate in my opinion. Quality of this piece of sh*t "premium" service is as good as you might expect.

*Xbox Game Pass is still a paid subscription service for access to a huge game catalog.

Poker Night 1 was way better than Poker Night 2. I felt the characters got along better despite their insane differences, each of them had a thing in common with each other character.

Today's article a brand new writer (Spoiler: me) joined the ranks of The Daily SPUF and presented the today's perspective of Destiny 2.

As of now you grab the game for $12 bucks on Humble Bundle. The only caveat is that it does NOT include any DLCs, only the vanilla product.

Ohh... and you can also read Medic's thoughts on the beta if you haven't already.

    Here's something unexpected...

Destiny 2 got a free trial version released today.

Despite being a long time Destiny fan, I still would not recommend purchasing Destiny 2. Play Warframe instead for a more salt-free experience.

Current state of the game is bad if not worse than Ubisoft's The Division at launch (at least there are no hackers roaming around).
The distinctive lack of stuff to do, loot to chase after and transparent communication have been the reason why the Destiny community is covered in salt lately.
Not only that, but also there has been a whole PR sh*tstorm regarding the XP gain on which you earn the cosmetic loot boxes (Jim Sterling also stepped in).

The game's first expansion is also set to release next week. Unfortunately the provided content has appeared to be major disappointment so far.

Oh well... given what is available on the trial version, I'd say 50% of the game is basically free now. At least new players will be able to find out the meaning behind #twotokensandablue without having to spend money.

I still regret not being able to finish writing my article on spuf.org regarding Destiny 2 due to time and personal reasons. I should probably get it nicely finished by the end of December.

Medic goes to Cyprus Comic Con 2017 AND goes back to basics in Warframe! Double article day!

I love these rare articles that are updated throughout a day :D It's fun popping back to see what's happened since... Also, reading the article on Volt made me feel bad for my own I played from a year or two ago. In the same way you feel bad when you return to your town in Animal Crossing after WAY too long.

That's the reason I quit Overwatch competitive mode.

Worst part is, you have no idea how toxic the environment becomes after you reach Diamond.

You will get mercilessly (pun not intended) reported by:
Not playing the season meta. Being too good on some instances (enemy team will most likely file a report under "cheating") Being the only Platinum ranked player while all your teammates are Diamond and above, and your team loses. Picking Bastion. Picking Hanzo/Widowmaker without a golden weapon equipped. After season 4, I stopped recommending Overwatch to pretty much anyone. Specially after the salty competitive tryhards decided to vent their rage on Quick Play and start to judge casual players by their competitive rank or lack of golden weapons.

Its utterly disgusting to say the least and Blizzard is taking too much time do something about it.

    Amazing article as always.
Been wondering for a while how the game would be seen from the eyes of someone who never played it before.

From day one, I feared Destiny 2 might scare away potential new players, specially those on PC, with poorly introduced stuff right from the start.

I will probably try writing a follow-up draft from the perspective of a veteran during the weekend. Gonna have to set up my Ol' Xbox so I can source some screencaps from Destiny 1 (don't think articles with zero images will make a good first impression).

Still a shame that even long dedicated Destiny fans like myself consider the new game a risky investment right now.

If you've never tried mobas like League or Dota (or have and disliked them), try Heroes of the Storm.

The learning curve is not as steep for several reasons, foremost being much simpler in-game progression via talents as you level instead of a shop and that XP is shared for the entire team so there is no "last hitting".

Additionally, teamfights are longer meaning there's more interaction and games are shorter meaning there is less of a time commitment per game. Additionally, the "laning" phase is much shorter than in other mobas, meaning you get to the action faster. Finally, there are different maps with various objective phases that help whichever team takes them win the game (for example, Braxis Holdout has points you must hold that eventually will summon a large wave of Zerg to attack enemies).

Dear lord! We literally got ourselves Battleborn's successor. It might even share the grave with For Honor sooner than I expected.

As a long time Unreal Tournament fan I had high hopes for Lawbreakers, quite a shame to see how things turned out. All it needed was a bigger playerbase.
Let's see how long it takes until it turns Free to Play.

    No.

Anyway... to bright things up, Bungie has officially released today more details regarding the Open Beta of Destiny 2 on PC.

The Open Beta on PC will be available on August 29 until August 31. Pre-orders can access the Beta on August 28.

Spectre got a reaction from Silent in Introduction of an ancient lurker
As tempted as I was to introduce myself in the "SPUF Refuge thread", I thought my long story deserved a separate thread instead.

Over the period of almost eight years I visited spuf on daily basis.

However, unlike most users, I've only stayed there to read about the discussions of the community without sharing my thoughts... until now.

Back when I discovered spuf, I was a high school student, and TF2 was on its golden age. Now I'm an old college student who aims to graduate as a Game Designer.
Needless to say that the first memory that still comes to my mind when someone mentions "spuf" was when some guy named "Huff" decided to bring the TF2 community together... or else. Then a year later this happened.
After that I started to lurk the forums even more, specially after I found out a masterpiece written by SirActionPants known as "Discovering the secrets of the Tradeamous-Ignoramus tribe: an expedition" (now forever lost in the dark corners of time ) which I used to point out every time someone asked about the early days of Steam trading.

Years later, CS:GO took over. And since I wasn't fond of the franchise I migrated to Destiny and other games. In the meantime, I've also learned what "Reddit" was and started lurking there as well. On occasion I would also check Facepunch.
However, every now and then I would still check spuf to read how the community was doing and the news The Medic would come up with on spuf.org. What motivated me into opening Chrome and heading into spuf, even after I stopped being a regular on TF2, is a mystery to myself.

Either way, its good to see that spuf's story is not over.

While I can't say the same about TF2, there are many games out there to discuss about.

If any of you are wondering if that game called "Destiny 2" on PC is worth a look ask me away. I would highly recommend it if you enjoy a more community driven experience.

"Atheon's Spuf's story is still being written. The wielder holds the pen."
