That CrowbCat video bugs me because people won't understand WHY all the things they are looking at were changed. The saddest thing was the ditching of w_models and v_models and instead switching to c_models so only one model would be used for first person and third person. It ruined tons of animation mods and made all the guns look different/worse because they generally used the w_models which were less-detailed (holy crap the flamethrower got devastated). This also broke a lot of the animations for the guns as you saw. The reason for doing it is to make it easier to work with only one model instead of two when making weapons or changing things and whatnot. The reason a lot of the guns look shiny is because they forced specular maps on all the guns that use skins (aka all the default weapons barring some) even if the stock counterparts aren't supposed to be shiny at all.
 
The lighting changes on 2fort and stuff are result of compiling the maps differently on hammer. Could be because of different settings used or just hammer being a piece of junk, probably both.  You can no longer move the weapons with explosions because they don't want some person to try and pick up a weapon only for it to get blasted away, probably (also less physics is more performance).
 
Also there's a lot more graphics settings that have been added to current tf2 that aren't in the options that he may have on or off. There's mat_phong and new tf2 limits the use of mat_picmip (originally because it crashed a mac user if they changed it, why they haven't reverted this change after 7 years is beyond me).
 
Yes, a lot of the stuff he shows does look worse and I'm not excusing that because it's sad, but at the same time people need to understand a lot of the stuff isn't intentional (does that matter really? probably not...) or should at least know what they're complaining about.

Are people going to read your mind and detect that you're gay? Hell, even if you go with your boyfriend and hold his hand and kiss him in public, do you think anyone's going to hurt you? Most people aren't deranged enough to actually hurt someone except in self-defense.
 
Okay, it might be a little bit more dangerous. But there's always chaos and crime when any societal upset happens, and I doubt this will be more severe than any other.

What I find funny is that the Ambassador was made to reward accuracy, its weaker on everything compared to the normal revolver AND has increasing spread with following shots, only the first shot being accurate, so its going to get nerfed because its too strong in the hands of a skilled/accurate player.
 
There are other ways to balance that, but what do I know?

On the part about change, I'd say, if anything, the Smash 4 community welcomes change, because they are able to. Diddy was OP as hell, hoo-has out the ass, people wanted that changed because he was far superior to any other character, people wanted other characters to be viable, and so Diddy got nerfed. Every character in the game received balance patches that the people wanted. If anything the Melee community is resistant to that form of change because it's not possible. Melee is out, it's over a decade old, it can't be patched. But from what I've seen, Melee is all for change in terms of practicing and perfecting other characters who aren't the top tier, trying to bring them up and show that they can be used viably. That's exactly what Amsa did. Amsa came out of Japan from fucking nowhere and beat Mew2King (the 4th best Melee player in the world) and he was playing Yoshi. A random guy playing a mid-tier character beat a lifetime pro playing a top-tier character, because he played his character well enough. It caused people to rethink the tier list and how characters are used, and Amsa gets a ton of respect for it.
 
And you call the top dogs in the Melee community childish, but at the same time want to see the winner hurl insults at the loser? Losing is already bad enough, there's no reason to be a dick and pile insults to the guy's face on top of it. Just shake his hand, show respect for your opponents.

this offends me on a primal level as a (former) competitive tf2 player
basically you want to be able to watch an esport without the players getting any of the remuneration they deserve from being at the top of a highly competitive and incredibly skilled game
while I don't follow smash at all, I can tell you that the reason the competitive community doesn't like the changes you were describing is because either they decrease the skill based nature of the game, or in the case of the Project M mod because it increases the barrier of entry to an already small scene.
and if the most important aspect of watching video games to you is seeing people shittalk each other maybe you should find some other hobby

On a more detailed note,
I liked how you were constantly recruiting new party members, and they're all mostly unique move-wise.
There's like 30 I think and you're constantly switching them.
 
I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good RPG.
