<Witty Name> got a reaction from Cretler in MAKE SUBSPUF GREAT AGAIN
There's a reason that I'm not particularly fond of the shitposting thread: it's about as interesting as a piece of cardboard floating in a puddle of distilled failure.

However, it does have a few redeeming qualities; for example, it is not a long, tedious series of flamebaiting posts, and it does not actively drench other threads in the aforementioned liquid failure.

Marcus' posts- and the replies to them- have gone above and beyond the call of duty, not only reminding me of everything I detest about rampant shitposting, but also all the things that I don't detest about shitposting. Since the mods don't seem particularly interested in doing anything, I'll be the backseat driver and ask that people kindly quit it. It's filling up space and accomplishing nothing of value.

We have alternate threads for a purpose. The point of a board, even as casual as this one, is to organize conversations. If "everything goes in whatever thread" was true, then we would have one long-ass confusing thread, that would be impossible to hold conversions on. A random reaction image or relevant copy-paste is fine, but if it's just two people parroting random things at each other, it shouldn't be here.

This isn't "stifling" or abuse, these requests are merely to keep this place working and readable.

The problem is that all of these situations have the same end result:
Somebody walks into a store after it closes. The manager asks them to leave. Somebody walks into a store and has a bad haircut. The manager asks them to leave. Somebody walks into a store and mentions to someone that they're marrying a same-sex partner. The manager asks them to leave. Somebody walks into a store. The manager asks them to leave. A business can refuse service to anybody, and you can't really force them to only refuse service for certain approved reasons (that smacks of a Big Brother state). The same applies to employment - how do you prevent an employer from firing someone for being lesbian without prevent them from firing people for being incompetent?

It's not an easy problem to tackle. I'd rather there just not be a problem, but that's a bit optimistic because some people are dicks.

With that said, providing a broad exception to anti-discrimination laws defangs them, which is one step short of throwing them out entirely - and much less damaging to your public image, to boot. It's pretty obvious what they're going for here.

Yesterday I was driving to work and while waiting for a red light and in the car next to me was a woman and in the car behind her was this guy with a young boy next to him. And this guy was honking like his lofe depended on it and the woman was just kind of waving her hands at her driving mirror like "dude I don't know". Then the guy nudges the boy and says something to him and the boy steps out of the car, walks up to the woman's car, knocks on the window and yells "fuck you you cancerous cunt" before running back to his car again. Then their light went green and they went out of sight

Now I don't know the context but I'm pretty sure someone just asked his 12-ish year old son to go call someone a cancerous cunt in the middle of traffic

People trying to comment on fields of science that they haven't the faintest inkling of knowledge about infuriate me. This man is a non-stop parade of utter failure.

Everything in this video is wrong. Everything in the comments is wrong. Nothing is correct.

This has nothing to do with reality.

Everything in this statement is false. The only thing tangentially related to reality is that the bulbs contain mercury. I've broken them before. You pick them up and don't eat them.

Everything in this statement is false. Full stop.

This sickening anti-science movement among the far-right is why we can't have nice things. All we can have is people holding a radio frequency detector up to a light bulb and claiming it gives us cancer.

(To be fair, the far-left has its fair share of wackos as well. Just bring up "GMOs" and they collapse in pain).

So my computer is kind of busted right now. The "z" key has been intermittently sticking for the past year or so; it was never a physical issue, though, and I could actually double the rate at which my computer spewed the letter "z" by holding the key down.

As of last night, though, it started disgorging z's within seconds of logging on. The same happened in Ubuntu and a live boot of Debian, so it's not malware or something.

I've potentially found a solution that involves FilterKeys and taping the "z" key down when starting the computer, but it's still pretty obnoxious. At least I can use the flipping thing.z
