It might be a bit intimidating, when each episode is between 10-20 minutes long, but Dota is just a game that requires a ton of knowledge and dedication if you want reach a decent skill tier. No one is expecting you to become a pro of course, but Dota is definitely up there on the "Games with a fucking high skill ceiling" list (Along with Dwarf Fortress and EVE Online).

EDIT:
Oh and my own personal recommendation is to limit your hero pool to begin with. Maybe focus completely on one hero for a while, until you understand the map and the basics of the game. Then you can start worrying about the skillset of other heroes.
 
I had ~5 games of League of Legends, 1 game of HoN and maybe 3 games in the original DotA of experience when I started. I had no idea what the fuck I was doing. I said to harbl (the guy who talked me into playing) "I want to play a supportive healer role" because I figured it would be less pressure. I ended up picking Omniknight and I ran that hero for probably 10 bot games and 20 actual matchmaking games before I tried something different and it really helped me to not get overwhelmed.

I would think that those big Medicine producing industries would be the most opposed against it, because of 'muh profits' like the arses they are. 

Back when I was in college I submitted an article called "A Guide to Undercover Missions on Low-Tech Planets" to the now-defunct Traveller Magazine. They paid me but never published it.

Best way to build waifu-runner in a semi-carry role is go Orchid, then sheep, with phase/tranqs along the way. Force staff is fantastic for general utility, so is Euls, Pipe, and mek. I wouldn't say Dagon or shadowblade are that good on her

Make an All Mid game, no bots, turn on cheats Pick DK Type "-lvlup 25" Level everything up "-item item_heart" (do this 5 times) "-item item_travel_boots" "-allvision" "-createhero dragon enemy" "-levelbots 25" Level up everything for the enemy dragon knight, and dump any of the shit he buys. "-givebots item_heart" (do this 5 times) "-givebots item_travel_boots" Have both DK's stand between enemy's Rax tower and their T2 tower. The creeps will want to kill you, but you're too damn tanky to die so they just stick around you. Wait 10 or 20 or 30 minutes. Type "-refresh" if anyone comes close to death. When you feel you're done waiting, have both DK's teleport out, and make sure they stay in their spawns. Watch the armies duke it out.
