Id say this is not about how the poor widdle muswims are being literally oppressed in current year but more about how the few ones that actually are terrorists just killed 128 people Im not sure what the exchange rate is between discrimination and being lined up and shot in the back of the head but Im inclined to say that islam is not the big victim here Also going on record that I do not agree with Verumae being banned over this -

I'll just re-iterate what I said on the subject elsewhere, that a "war on Islam" simply isn't feasible. Muslims make up roughly a third of the world's entire population. So you really have two choices: 1.) Focus on the actual terrorists, and MAYBE get something done. 2.) Blame it on the religion itself and spin your wheels trying to figure out how you're going to wipe out the religion when that would mean killing or converting over 2 billion people (good luck with that). Blaming the religion gets nothing done. There is nothing you can do about that even if it were true. It's a pointless line of thought to follow because it leads nowhere productive. At this point the religion in itself is irrelevant except that it's the excuse nutjobs are using in a concerted effort to start World War Three and bring on Armageddon. Which is, really, the IS's main goal. Convert as many as possible to their cause, stage a bunch of battles, and otherwise "fulfill the prophesies" that will signify the end times and hope Allah wipes out all their foes like the Quran says he will. Whatever plan comes out of all this needs to keep that in mind: Full on war is the goal they are trying to achieve. They'll fight to the last man. Whether that means a swift and merciless response is required or some other solution is called for, who knows. The former seems to be what everyone's leaning towards. -

1 pointThis is awful, and my heart goes out to the people of France. However, in response to a topic this thread is quickly turning to, quick thing of note for all those about the whole "no true Muslim" or "religion of peace", just be aware that the Quran does explicitly command violence against nonbelievers. Insofar as I know, it is the only scripture which, under the current explicit doctrine commands violence. (War has been commanded in the old testament, but that was under the Abrahamic covenant, and I believe violence is commanded in a no-longer-recognized part of Hindu scripture, though my memory is fuzzy.) There is a problem with Islam, and that problem is that people are supposed to emulate Muhammad, who was a warlike and very dangerous man. As long as that is true, there will be Muslims - arguably the "true Muslims" - who commit acts of violence in the name of Islam. I have a fair amount of context on this whole systemic issue, as my family is directly involved with several families of missionaries sent to Iraq and other parts of the middle east where Islam is the dominant religion.

1 pointI agree with this. I don't usually care for his opinions and I am certain that his statement regarding Islam could have been articulated better, but did he really deserve a ban? As for the Paris situation, my heart goes out to France and her people. I also think people are getting caught up in the debate about Islam as a whole way too quickly. Must we go through all the usually regurgitated knee-jerk responses to muslim extremist attacks that we always do? Of course anyone with even the slightest amount of sensibility realizes that terrorists =/= all muslims. Can we calm the defense squad down ever so slightly. This isn't about Islam as a whole, currently it's about establishing the facts and recognizing that something terrible happened in the heart of a European nation and that it could happen again. Arguing Islam on an international scale isn't going to solve anything other than stating facts and coming across as daft. Keep in mind though, that this is about the third major series of terrorist attacks to happen on French soil this year alone, with another batch of smaller terrorist attacks throughout the land. That Thalys shooting would have been a massive bloodbath too had the perpetrator in that case not been subdued in time. I won't be surprised if France is going to crack down hard on every form of muslim extremism in the following months. They about completely fucking had it with their shit, and rightfully so. I bet if we would jail everyone in favor of the backwards-as-fuck shariah law in Europa, that the terrorist threat is instantly lessened by a huge margin. The religion isn't the biggest factor. The rampant extremism within the religion is.

Here's my two cents on the matter. I don't know fuck all about what's happening in Syria, but evert war is just a conflict of beliefs. The Syrian/Islam/Muslims have one set of beliefs based on their religion and so do western countries that are involved (it's just their beliefs are less based on religion and more on what they believe to be morally acceptable) Each side looks at the other and thinks "X thing about them is horrible/wrong/shouldn't happen" and makes it their purpose to try and fix it. We think that we're right, they think that they're right and to be honest that's not something that a war or attacks on the opposing side can just change. While I don't believe that we (the west) should just go "nah fuck it its their problem they can deal with it themselves" I do think that we're applying our standards and beliefs to a place where ours just don't make sense to them, and the only people who'll change their beliefs are the people from those countries. I'm sure you can all pick holes in my argument but that's just how I see it y'know -

Muslims are absolutely involved with Islamic terrorism, don't try to paint them as a scapegoated minority on the level of Jews. How the hell do you talk about Islamic terrorism without talking about Islam? At worst people will start to question why exactly they're letting in millions of Muslims who aren't assimilating to their culture. That's a good thing. Not every Muslim kills people for their religion. Not even the majority do. But quite frankly enough do that something needs to be done. Just restricting immigration and thoroughly vetting those you do let in is a good first step. Never forget that immigration is a public policy issue - same as any other. You should do what's best for the citizenry, and I don't think importing refugees by the literal boatload is helping your citizens much. At best you'll have a bunch of low-skilled workers that will probably be replaced by machines in a decade or two, at worst you let in a lot of people that hate you and your culture. -

No. Fuck off. It's not "the Muslim world." It's a bunch of lunatics. And people calling Islam as a whole, or the Muslim world, responsible for this is why more people become jaded and join these lunatic movements. Because assholes say shit like this and propagate the cycle. I reiterate: Fuck off. You're right, Mohammed in his bombed-out shack in Syria hears Verumae saying "Fuck islam" and decides THIS is the last straw. Or maybe Abdul, in his comfy European home infinitely better than the constant war and sharia law in his fucked-up homeland hears Verumae saying "Fuck islam" and decides "This man is so insensitive it just makes me want to slaughter a hundred innocents!" By that logic Piss Christ should have inspired massive slaughter of atheists by Christians. But that hasn't happened, has it? Also the WBC comparision is laughable because they're literally 40 people that say mean things that everyone everywhere just laughs at. If this is the worst most extreme modern Christian group you can think of then shit, do I even need to say anything? -
