But what if you decided at some point that cooking wasn't what you wanted to do? Without any other knowledge at your disposal, you wouldn't have much you could fall back on.
 
The idea is to give you a sampling of various subjects so that you can pick the ones you enjoy and do well in, and then can decide what you want to do with that later on. It's better to have the knowledge and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

High school is supposed to give a basic ground of general knowledge. That's why afterwards you start specializing
 
So yeah some classes will be utterly useless for your future but someone else will need them. Plus it doesn't hurt to have at least a small amount of knowledge ready about geography and math

I have said NUMEROUS TIMES that I don't allow the fucking age categories in this. They're not a core assumption for you to be able to do. You can be old if you like, but have no mechanical benefits or penalties.

Back in my day you didn't have this namby-pamby charcoal business! No sir, if we wanted torches we had to walk fifteen miles in the snow* uphill both ways to find some coal! Sometimes you'd go for days without finding any, and you'd have to spend your nights in a tiny, sealed-off cave, with maybe a furnace for light! But we liked it that way! You learned to appreciate torches and all their wonderful monster-preventing properties!
