Did an audit on the amount of entities each map in tf2 has. Unsurprisingly, the maps with the most entities are the halloween maps mostly. The limit for a server is 2048 entities and the map with the most is pl_bloodwater (badwater event) with 1586 without any players connected. Each player, cosmetic, and weapon is an entity so each player at least will count for 7 entities.

1586+(24*7)=1754 entities used up by players alone. Any player with a cosmetic item in their use slot (like a spellbook or duck) will add yet another entity, and certain classes take up more entities (engineers and spies alone can take up an extra 10 each with buildings and disguises). 2048-1754 gives us 294 entities to work with in a perfect scenario. This is a halloween map, which means everyone will have a spellbook equipped (minus 24, 270 entities to work with). Any spell such as pumpkin bombs, skeletons, or monoculi will add entities, can assume 40 would be in use by these at max at any given time. so we only have 230 entities to work with.

This means on the map with the most entities, that if the entire server went engineer and had every cosmetic slot filled AND built all 4 buildings that the server would crash.

Want less coordination? 13 demoman (max cosmetics) laying out 14 stickybombs with the Scottish Resistance, and shooting 4 pills each at the same time is enough to crash the server on their own (without any soldiers launching rockets, or other projectiles existing on the map).

What's that? Want even LESS coordination? How about this? If you can get 6 medics (max cosmetics) to go to an area with a high ceiling (badwater event last) and look straight up and unload their entire syringe gun magazine into the sky, then the server would crash from just your guys' contributions alone. You can queue into casual servers with 6 people.

Basically, what I'm saying is, the fabric of tf2 universe relies on the syringe guns not being popular, since it's the most amount of entities any one player can make on their own (without exploits).

As someone who just graduated college and has been having a lot of introspection these last few days, it's been real weird. I've had quite the reliance on my SPUFriends to keep me sane. My family is about to go through a major change in 30 days, and I don't think literally any of us are prepared for it. The future is unclear for all of us in the Wicket clan, and that's the first time in ten years that that's been the case.

Recently been in a mood of "I should really do those things i promised random people I would do" but I'd have to spend time and effort relearning how to do them. I remember promising a Payday: The Heist Speedrunning guide. Never really wanted to make video content that uses my voice, but I've been livestreaming my L4D2 games for like 2 years now so that doesn't really matter. Broke the ice for myself by uploading an Apex Legends exploit guide with my voice, so maybe I can finally do that Panic Room exploit video so there's more than just me in the world who knows how to do it/why it works.

I think that literally the only 2020 anime I watched was BNA.  Almost watched the new Gundam: Build Divers but then remembered how mediocre the first season was and watched Dancougar instead.  Watching a lot of retro anime and non-anime limits my ability to see shows as they air, but also makes it easier to avoid duds.

As for BNA, I guess I can give a short review of that.  It's Trigger, so it's good, especially in terms of visuals.  But I think it suffered from only being 12 episodes.  The early episodes focus on worldbuilding and goofing off, which is fine and the show would have been worse without it.  But the last few episodes had to stuff way too much in them and it felt like the plot was not so much happening as it was being explained.  It also was kind of weird how Michiru only uses her human form in literally one episode.  I mean, I know that there's a running gag about her liking the beast form despite wanting to go back to being human, but it seems strange when the show makes a big deal about the other beastmen making a big deal about spending most of their time in human form.

Doesn't dethrone the reigning champion of Gurren Lagann (yes I know that's technically not Trigger, shut up).  I would put it on the Trigger scale one step above Kill La Kill.

As for retro anime I watched, Initial D and Galaxy Express 999 were both pretty cool.

What did you all think of 2020? I did the chart just because I was bored and planetside's servers are dying.

    Got an epic length one.

For one reason or another, the government decided to make high schools teaching life skills mandatory, and thus is providing additional education even for those who already completed college/higher education, so I was back in my heavily renovated high school with my old classmates, The school itself had a darker paint theme, and the layout was more of a labyrinth then a school, and had living quarters for some reasons (much like a dorm).

For the first night back, people just kinda caught up with each other, talking about what they did over the years, don't remember what but most people took office jobs so their lives were relatively boring,  I did met up with my old HS crush (who was also single), confessed my love for her, and spent the night with her. Cut to the first day of class, cooking,  they were teaching basic skills on how to make food for oneself, with things like roast chicken, pizza, etc.  I guess there was a magic refrigerator, because I somehow got the ingredients for sushi and made a spectacular platter that wowed everyone. Cut to lunch, with it somehow being the platter enough for more than 700 people.

The afternoon class was automotive repair, with a project of a demolition derby at the end of class, with the instructor giving out the bare minimum of information, so most people did not build/fix enough for the upcoming contest, since I work in the business, I proceed to utterly destroy everyone in fixing, and then the demolition derby afterwards. People got mad at me for some reason, and had a long chase through the school, with even more weird/non-euclidean geometry, then slowly, I got the "running very slowly in a dream" thing going on, and woke up.

I always wanted to play a Pikmin game, but never could, so I was very happy when it was announced, and thus Pikmin 3 Deluxe was my first one. From what I understand, it's less of a huge bombastic expansion on the previous game like the 2nd one was to the 1st, and more of a return to form that anyone could play without previous knowledge or experience. Something I really appreciated was how smart the Pikmin AI was -- like 90% of the time doing exactly what I meant it to do -- and how many tiny QoL things there were. Like for instance, if you're spamming throw, then captains and bomb rocks will get skipped so that you don't throw your captains into danger or kill your entire army of Pikmin with a bomb. Or how if a Pikmin is working and you whistle them, instead of coming straight over, they'll sort of stop and look at you; if you whistle them twice or whistle them once for long they'll get the message and stop what they're doing. All sorts of tiny things like that made the gameplay feel very smooth, smart, and refined.

The campaign was very fun the whole way through but I did find myself yearning for some more challenge in combat, even on Hard, which is why I'm gonna 100% it on Ultra-Spicy. All the Mission Mode levels were super fucking challenging though to get platinum on and they were very fun. The prologue Side Story was pretty short and basic and didn't give me high hopes, but then the epilogue was actually way longer and had some really cool objectives and gameplay twists; I liked it a lot. I really want to play the 1st and 2nd games someday; it'd be awesome if Nintendo didn't do away with Virtual Console on the Switch, but that's not the case, so it looks like I'm getting a Wii.

Games today are separated into four categories or so, and I've found people generally can only take on 2 at a time. The categories I can really think of are:

    1. Live Service games. This includes battle royales, MOBAs, and MMOS. They generally have a battle pass, take up a majority of time. Played by people all the time but are generally not talked about, take up a large chunk of gaming time for a lot. Some play these as their default, and often feel like these games are "crack" and play it even if they hate them.
    2. Fad games. The games played by online influencers, currently would be Among Us and Phasmaphobia in my recent memory. I think Call of Duty falls into here too. Really don't take up a lot of time for more than a month at most.
    3.  "Completable" multiplayer games. Thinking stuff like minecraft, terraria, factorio, monster hunter worlds (is this an mmo?). Kinda replaces live service games for a lot of people, as you can dedicate a lot of time into these for weeks at a time, but you eventually complete a session.
    4. Dense singleplayer experiences. An unsustainable source of gaming, but people make time for if a game is good enough.
Exceptions would be stuff like counter-strike, l4d2, old games with dedicated community servers.

I write this up to ask, what games are y'all dedicating your time to right now? I only really play 4 games right now. SMITE, Apex Legends, Final Fantasy XIV, and a little bit of L4D2. My steam "recently played" list is honestly pretty sad compared to the past.

If I wasn't forced onto being the head admin of a Left 4 Dead 2 league, I probably would've dropped that after the week of the Last Stand update. Talking to the community update team has been fun though.
