You have FIVE (5) seconds to explain why you aren't watching Kemurikusa right NOW

fucking sold
EDIT: Just gonna drop my thoughts from my first impressions as some chucklefuck with full-time employment as a sifu/whatever the hell my dojang's equivalent is
1: Good idea using Kung Fu, namely five animals as your martial arts base - There's a lot of diversity in those combined arts which allows for a lot of freedom of explanation - Although I personally found it difficult to read my way through the initial combat scene. Maybe run it through with a friend while trying to keep a straight face.
2: The concept of some esoteric psychonaut-fu that lacks the usage of Qi automatically puts you in my good graces and tactfully covers the Qi energy field bullshit side of martial arts rather well
3: I have taught six-year-olds. The fact they managed to sit entirely silent for what in writing sounds like several hours is what most would consider a miracle. I need to learn this style of disciplinary action that hopefully doesn't involve a bamboo stick.

Haven't been around as much lately, posting-wise. I've still been lurking pretty regularly, but I've been busy with other stuff. For the last year or so I've been working as a freelance writer for all sorts of people, and really wanted to start writing fiction.
So I wanted to post what I've been working on for the last month and a half for everyone's enjoyment: Orphans
It's a web serial/novel I plan to update once a week, maybe twice going into the future. It's got martial arts, and stuff! Check it out, leave a like, comment, and subscribe or something like that. Tell me what I'm doing wrong and how my story killed your dog, I can take it as much as I tend to dish it out, you won't hurt me (too bad).

Current windchill is so low that it doesn't really matter if you measure it in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

I like how Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin are in the "we don't have a color for temps this low" zone.

Back from Iowa. Almost fell on my ass several times because of the snow and ice but it was a nice enough place, even if we were almost killed twice in car crashes because of Dubuque drivers.
Grandpa is going to die in a couple days most likely, but that's what we thought and that's why we went: the main reason was to say hi (goodbye?) to grandpa and clean out his apartment. Which despite being relatively small (one combined kitchen and living room with a small bedroom, a closet, and a kitchen) took about 4 hours each day for 4 days. I learned a lot about him and his life doing that at least. I knew barely anything about him before then, since he was thousands of miles away and family rarely comes up in conversation. He was one hell of a guy. A medic in the Korean War, an English teacher, a provost at a community college, hell he was even the "Masked Marvel" on his basketball team in the 50s. He used to write poems and send them off to greeting card companies for a few bucks each, and he'd write a lot about a lot of things in general. He researched his ancestry; nothing really noteworthy (mom's side was Germano-Nebraskan farmers, dad's side was French-Canadian later Iowan tailors and farmers, and apparently one of the earliest settlers of Montreal was one of them). If I can do even half of what he's done I'll die happy. Which seems to be the way he's doing it, he's at peace with it all. As he said he's 91 and not really dying of anything in particular, and my dad and I think he's just ready to go on.
In less intimate vacation news I went to my first casino, which sucked. I don't know why old people love these things, and I'm not even adverse to gambling. Saw Eagle Point Park and Mississippi Lock and Dam #11, whose tourist placard said it was the only major lock and dam that had not yet undergone maintenance and restoration! Wowwee. Also saw the world-famous Dubuque shot tower which opened in the 1850s and closed within 3 years because the St. Louis shot tower undercut its prices and drove Dubuque's tower into bankruptcy. It's so world famous that I decided that even though I wasn't going to take any pictures during the trip I would make an exception for this tourist hotspot.
Don't be too jealous now, it'll still be there if you wanna book a flight to see it yourself. The casinos are only a couple of blocks away.

hugthebed2 got a reaction from Huff in 2018!
I can never do charts for these because I will often just not watch any shows from a season for no particular reason.
Will I watch more than four seasonal shows this year?!? Hopefully, but I've got an entire year to figure that out. I know I've got Monogatari in the next two months, Non Non Biyori Vacation in probably three months, as well as the Psycho Pass movies later on. My figure collection has grown two-fold since last year - I just hope that doesn't keep up.

JIKAN DESU! JIKAN DESU!
Another year of anime has passed us by and it wouldn't be right if we didn't do a bit of reflection of the year 2018!
Here's the template for our trusty chart!

The first drawing of the new year! Longleaf pines. Really stylized thing. Feat. Cardinal:
And I made a fun alternate version of Lord Valor, the original being up at the top of the page:
Maybe he's imbued with some sort of ancient power or something.
