I was really lucky today and managed to buy a SNES Classic (without paying scalpers).
The Menu is super charming and if you afk Mario takes over and starts randomly loading games.
 
Star Fox runs bad, which is cool, because emulators run it good and it runs (I assume) how it would on the OG hardware.
Chill Penguin is a wimp.
I am bad at Donkey Kong.
F-Zero starts out easy but then the sand zone blows you up.
And I haven't started yet, but am excited to play Earthbound and SMRPG on something that's not a keyboard.
Also Final Fantasy 3 (6) is on there, dunno anything about it! But it's supposed to be good!
 
There's also this neat replay feature that saves the last forty seconds or so of gameplay.
So you can either load a savestate or pick up just before you jumped into those spikes.
 
I know you can just emulate all these (and a bunch are even on virtual console), but there's just something fun about having a bite sized SNES packed with retro goodies.
 

In more positive video game related things, I got around to play DOOM 2016 this week after missing its release. Absolutely stellar experience, easily one of my new favourite games.

Do you mean spells? Spells stay on an item when you apply them, unless you restore the item. The spells are only activate during Full Moon/Scream Fortress, or if Halloween Mode is otherwise activated. I'm not sure cause I haven't touched the Halloween contracts yet (still busy with the main campaign), but I've heard that the little gift baskets you get from each contract are able to drop spells.

Fireball launcher is fun.
It rewards accuracy with a faster cooldown and ends up as a really fun DM weapon.
Sacrifices the crowd control capabilities of the flamethrowers though, you won't be stealth burning crowds of people with it.
Plus if you miss, you may as well be dead, because it takes two to three hits to kill anyone, more than enough time for a heavy/soldier/scout/flamethrower to unload on you.
And it's missing the +20hp on extinguishes, making it less useful with teammates.
 
Like, getting blasted at point blank sucks when fighting it, but it's pyro. He's supposed to be close range.
So after the pyro spam dies down, I think it'll be a balanced 1v1 tool which rewards aim, but is worse against crowds.
Because it doesn't feel any more lethal than getting two shotted by a rocket launcher, it's just that pyro is actually killing people now.
 
As for the Jetpack, the fast equip time and long unequip seems to be valve trying really hard to prevent Flyro/Pyroknight.
It's an excellent positioning tool that lets you cross gaps and gain positions formerly exclusive to Soldiers/Demos/Scouts, without having to spend health to get there.
The Tackle damage and extinguishing teammates really feel like things they just tacked on because they're wildly impractical. Maybe they're vestiges from an earlier version.
 
I know people were really stoked to have Jetpacking flamethrowers, but it sounds like a nightmare to balance/fight especially when you'd have shit like surprise Jetpack charging Backburners/Phlogs into crowds of people. So I'm perfectly okay with the mobility niche it fills, because giving the Pyro what is effectively a Chargin-Targe jetpack sounds like a horrible idea for everyone who isn't pyro.
 
Gas Can is really meh?
It takes forever to charge, doesn't charge on respawn or on cabinet, and can easily be extinguished.
Probably they did that to prevent people from just permanently gasclouding an area, but right now it's just not very good.
Like, why am I going to use the Gascan once every Sixty seconds (Which is longer than it takes to charge Uber!) to Gas an area for a couple seconds?
Maybe I hit four or five people if I'm lucky, now for the next ten seconds they're mildly inconvenienced by the potential to be hit by regular afterburn. Which can easily be extinguished.
 
If it's going to take sixty seconds to charge and replace the shotgun/flaregun/jetpack it needs to do something a little better than that.
But just making it charge faster is probably a bad idea because then you'd just have permanently gassed areas on payload/defense maps.

Whenever I put on music I have two categories I choose from: Music that I enjoy, and music that I enjoy that I feel comfortable putting on with other people around.
 
One of my go-tos from the latter category is a band called Serpent Throne, and the album I specifically like to put on is Brother Lucifer. That sounds pretty bad from names alone, but bear with me here.
 
 
It's instrumental. No vocals, no screeing or anything. That already keeps it playing for longer than ten seconds. It's still probably a little more heavy than what would play most of the time but it's a far cry from Industrial Symphonic Death-Thrash or whatever I turn on to relax and it helps that there's no guy screaming about Timothy McVeigh. I'd like to imagine that the album has enough of the bluesy side of doom metal to not weird people out. The solos are still a lot of fun too. The last song, Napalm Mourning, is a very powerful song and the outro is fucking amazing, I love it.
 
The album, from the various song names and album cover, has a Vietnam theme. Without lyrics to explicity state it, you can take the songs as they are or imagine RS2 Vietnam gameplay as you listen to it. At the very least, I hope that it's an album that someone can listen to without having to grow out their hair and yell UP THE IRONS whenever they see something "brutal."

Hiya folks. I didn't see a topic on this, so I thought I would start one. Many of you may already know. I'm also a little late to the party (news was broken on Monday by Cisco Talos).
 
If you downloaded version 5.33 of CCleaner recently, you also downloaded a multi-stage payload on top of it. It looks like it was a watering hole attack, so it's unlikely the payload will DO anything to you (they were supposedly targeting big tech giants, including Cisco themselves), but you still don't want a mysterious malware backdoor on your PC. Cisco recommends you not only uninstall CCleaner, but also re-image your machine (or just restore to a date prior to August 15th). If you really want to keep CCleaner, then update to 5.35 immediately.
 
Thank god I didn't install that update (still on 5.23).

I enjoyed the first WItcher, but it's the only one I've played s far. Got a little ways into 2 but there's something about it that keeps making me drop it.
 
Also I don't know what you mean, the graphics and visuals in the original Witcher were great.
 

For those of you who don't know, I used to make a lot of silly little Flash animations and post them here. But after I got a new computer a few years ago, I suddenly was unable to use my existing copy of Flash. To make things worse, Adobe had started charging an outrageous subscription fee for all of their creative software. This, combined with some real-life depression issues, led to me ceasing all Cubimation productions.
 
But now I've snapped out of my funk, and I found a free animation software called Pencil! So I thought, why not make a glorious return? And while I'm at it, why not start drawing with a tablet like every real artist out there? Pencil isn't quite as robust as Flash (it's kinda like what GIMP is to Photoshop), but I want to challenge myself more anyway.
